January 31, 201411 yr Why Lego hasn't licensed this cute baby? ;-) This would be a real flagship... can load the Volvo in its bucket ;-) A 14 year old boy/girl would not know what one of those is though..... The Lego group actually missed out a key word in the technic motto "repetitive".
January 31, 201411 yr Saw the first images of this new set this week. I'm quite excited, I'm really looking forward to it. Some parts might be very useful in my scale, like the yellow wheels and the bucket off course. A set I only build once, what's inside is more important for me.
January 31, 201411 yr How big are the wheels? As big as those from the Unimog? The width is about 19 studs, so the same as the Unimog.

Whatever TLG's reason was for putting the servo in this set, doing so without also including the train remote strikes me as a mistake. Alternately, they could have used a PF-M and either linear actuators or a series of gears to do the steering; that would have worked fine. This is one of those compromises that just doesn't work, IMO.

This is one of those compromises that just doesn't work, IMO. I'm sure they taught the servo works best,they don't want sets with gears crunching which is why gears don't make sense. Anyone else think the beacon light on the roof is interesting,it's one of the old light and sound globes I think,I'll have to add a flasher to that :)

January 31, 201411 yr Only John Deere makes green engines. Though, in the construction business, various competitors bought engines from each other. I'm not sure if Volvo made their own engines, but next time I have access to a wheel loader, I'll check ... After all, we might be getting a Volvo WL with a Deere power plant ... Volvo actually makes their own engines, so no Deere there . The Volvo made engines are used in all Volvo brands (Volvo Bus, Volvo Construction Equipment, Volvo Trucks and Volvo Penta Marine and Powergens), and I believe also in some of the other brands owned by the Volvo Group such as Mack, Renault Trucks, Eischer and UD Trucks. As far as color, Volvo heavy diesel engines have been painted green for many years. Don't know exactly, but I'd guess 30-40 years or so. And concerning John Deere engine color, I don't think they use green anymore but silver (at least if looking on the web).

The top view of the machine is ridiculously narrow.

February 1, 201411 yr Where's all the guys that complained about the steering not returning to center!clearly it does in the above video. Works better than i taught. I'd love to see the full dip on the bucket though. Is there any reason we haven't seen any pictures of the dozer yet? It's probably the usual mid size model I'd say.

Agreed, the steering looks ok but its could do with progressive control. (not the laggy train controller)
