1gor Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 I thought i read somewhere that the volvo has around 1680 parts. Mkll has 2600 so its not even close. exactly. IMHO just yellow rims are the reason to buy this set, not to mention panels and green engine and green beams. We must be reasonably and except that bucket allone costs (in production) probably like whole pins from 42009, and mog tires are more expensive than 62.4X20 Quote
Johnny P Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Don't forget the s..tload of pf stuff that makes it expensive. MkII doesn't have this. Grtz Johnny Quote

Finally (when I bought this set) I could make my flagship - it will be lime green with one E-motor (that I need from this set) and some interesting technical solutions... of course this model will be also adopted to yellow rims and green engine http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=535335 Quote
davidmull Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 exactly. IMHO just yellow rims are the reason to buy this set, not to mention panels and green engine and green beams. U would buy a set just for the wheels. Wierd! Quote
Johnny P Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Why is buying for parts weird? I buy sets for parts all the time. i bought 8109 twice because i needed black panels for a moc. and all the other parts will maybe come in handy for something else. in my opinion you can never have enough parts when moc'ing. I have 4 crawlers just because it has a lot of pf. And the rest will come in handy someday. So if it is weird, than i am just a weirdo. Quote
AndroTech Posted February 7, 2014 Author Posted February 7, 2014 I could not agree more. Finally (when I bought this set) I could make my flagship .... http://www.brickshel...ry.cgi?f=535335 Hello Igor .... what are the dimensions of that yellow dishes that you are using on your tractor? Quote
1gor Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 So u don't like the model u just want the parts? U would buy a set just for the wheels. Wierd! I like model the best set after Unimog U400 which is my favorite. But honestly I think of buying two of them and make 3 axles articulated hauler. I've become Unimog as present from my wife and thought great for parts. they I've waited for compressor (it was missing from box) with unfinished model. After a while I've deiced to buy another for parts, because I did not want to tokk it a part. The same was with 8448 convertible and I can not say that with 42030 will not happen... The reason why I want to buy complete model is that it is better than to buy only parts. Remember that wheels from 8264 set were really expensive. for about 10 wheels I could buy whole set in Muller store and If I may say so - it it never enough LEGO parts. As mostly of my models have transmission, It would be nice to put one 9F & 3R transmission in hauler. If you think it is weird, I wont blame you. sorry if explanation is to boring... Hello Igor .... what are the dimensions of that yellow dishes that you are using on your tractor? Hi Neighbor, I use 8X8 dishes, part 3961. regards I Quote
davidmull Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Igor I only buy sets to build and display. Not really interested in parts unless there's something I really want to build like jurgens backhoe which I built last year. I get quite excited about flagships every year but I think it's funny that some people love the loader because it has yellow wheels! There's a lot more too it,I also love Legos designs they look so real life. A lot of mocs look like mocs to me not official. Very rare case like jurgens models are nice and authentic. Quote
EyesOnly Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Well we are all different. Some like displaying their sets, others like me prefer moc:ing. Since few sets have functions that interest me i tend to view sets for the parts they have rather than as sets themselves. As an example i recently bought 42000 since it has some nice parts and i couldn't afford it last year. 42025 seems to have nice parts as well even though i'm not sure i want it, which is exactly what i said this time last year regarding the grand prix racer. But i will wait with that until i know for sure which summer sets i will buy. I still have other non technic sets i'm thinking of and nowhere near enough money. Gotta save up for 42030. David please stop posting those videos. You are making me wanna buy the full scale loader and i can't afford it nor do i have a license to drive it. BTW this set has more parts, functions and motors than the similarly prized 9398 so it would truly make a great part pack regardless of what one might think about the model itself. Quote
1gor Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 I like to make mocs because there is so much arround us that could be great models, not to mention that it is challenge to make good model of a real thing. Everyone hes to decide what her or he wants to make original models or mocs. Due to economical reasons technic models have (imho) mostly unfinished or unusual solutions. Typical example v4 engines - they only exist in motogp, and machinery has usually inline 6 engines. some big douers have v12 and mercedes actros had v6 and v8 engines until last year... to make "copy" of someone else's moc is like plagiat and it is not some special level of creativity, but everyone has a freedom of choice;-) Quote
AndroTech Posted February 7, 2014 Author Posted February 7, 2014 Hi Neighbor, I use 8X8 dishes, part 3961. regards I Front wheels too? Are they inside of the tire edge? Regards. Quote
1gor Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Povratnik, exactly; they are inside tire together with wjeel from 8448 set Quote
SheepEater Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 I'll pass on that one. I'm quite pleased with the 8265 I already have. Quote
captainmib Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Does anybody have good experience with recharable batteries for sets like this one? Which ones do you recommend? (please name a brand and other specs) Quote
MikeTwo9398 Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 (edited) Does anybody have good experience with recharable batteries for sets like this one? Which ones do you recommend? (please name a brand and other specs) In most of my technic models and Lego trains I use the brand GP (Search for GP in NL). There are 2 type I use - Rechargeable - ReCyko+ Rechargeable: they have the most [Ah], the higher the number the longer they last. I use the GP 2700 (2700 [mAh]). ReCyko+ : they stay longer charged when not in use. You can buy them in almost every Electrical store. Edited February 12, 2014 by MikeTwo9398 Quote

They are not even fitted to do some proper mouse work :( Will buy some 2700 mAh.... Quote
jono rocky Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 This will be a awesome set to have and I have ideas on a "c" model to go with it. I agree before that the distance between the front wheel and the bucket is quite long but given the size of legos acuators I gues it has to. I have but one dislike and thats the turn radius, its needs more. I used to drive night shift with a cat 988 at a sand quarry and the monsters could turn on a dime. The green engine is different and why not we need different coloured parts. had to laugh when I noticed the controllers on the box, its one controller copy, paste and that will do it. Hope they fix that image ( yes its sad I still have all my boxes stored away) Ive no doubt missed it somewhere but does anyone know when its available?. Quote
davidmull Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 I'll pass on that one. I'm quite pleased with the 8265 I already have. Im not sure u can even compare both to be honest! 8265 is smaller and not rc. 42030 would eat it alive :) and yes i have 8265. Nice display model only. Quote
