Polo-Freak Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 Top Set for Parts, Yeah Red Panels - but the Truck is very ugly Quote
Rishab N Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 I think the 9398 ones work pretty well. The 8110 ones look too big and the 8070 and 42000 wheels look tame Quote
jorgeopesi Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 Anyway or anywheel is the worst set I have ever seen, I looks like a bad B-model, just my opinion of course. Quote
Zerobricks Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 Great set for parts...and thats about it for me Quote
rm8 Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 It is ugly, but not bad as your eyes can see. That's good base set for motorization and modification. I like it. And who is Lars Thygesen? Is he a new member of Lego Technic team? No info about him at lego.com Quote
Anio Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 And who is Lars Thygesen? Is he a new member of Lego Technic team? No info about him at lego.com As far as I know he did 42001, 42027 and 42029. Quote
Sariel Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 Personally, I place 42029 among the best sets of the last few years. Quote
jadedomg Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 I want/need at least two sets just for the nice selection of parts. Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 I want/need at least two sets just for the nice selection of parts. That is how I feel about the set,but I would be probably better just buying the parts I need from Bricklink. Quote
AndroTech Posted July 6, 2014 Author Posted July 6, 2014 Excellent review Sariel ... as always! I also like the truck ... looks awesome, and a lot of potential for MOD's .... bigger wheals, 4WD, motorized drive and steering, .... And we mustn't forget parts pack ... panels, steering arms (which are quite expensive on BL these days), springs, hubs, mLA, ... I love it! Quote
theultimatetoa001 Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 Thanks for the review Sariel. The reason I said I felt like I was the only one who liked this was because everyone was saying it was "ugly" and "it`s only worth it for the pieces". Quote
N-4K0 Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 The reason I said I felt like I was the only one who liked this was because everyone was saying it was "ugly" and "it`s only worth it for the pieces". I like it too. I'll probably buy it when it's released. I do think I'll buy it mostly for the parts, like the many red panels, but I do like the model. Quote
technicfan Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 For some reason this truck reminds me of Trevor's truck from GTA 5... I was thinking the same thing: http://gta.wikia.com/Bodhi I am interested in the b model though, hopefully it is a good looking skidder. I like the truck with the 8110 and 9398 wheels gonna be a though decision. Quote
rm8 Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 (edited) My fast review "on-the-go" and with russian language only. Sorry, dont have access to pc now to do english subtitles. As I said - very good set, good car base for motorized truck. A lot of free space in 5L high frame and under the hood for placing as many power function elements, as you need for motorizing (drive and propulsion) + additional functions as winch and tipper. And there is also possibility for upgrading it to 4wd. Three things I did not liked 1. Too many holes: front fender, door and big hole at the back of cabin behind the seats. 2. Independent suspension on this truck. At least rear should be live axle. 3. Striped front "red-gray-red-gray..." Grille can be full gray without red bushes. Model was built with help of Technicbricks live build event only. Edited July 7, 2014 by rm8 Quote
jantjeuh Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 Thanks for the review rm8, must say it looks better in black. Quote

rm8 Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 Could one of the lucky owner of this pick up truck publish a good quality pic of the part list ? or PM me I would convert it to a Brickstock file bsx No need to try. Instructions for 42029, 42029, 42030 are already available:) http://www.lego.com/en-us/technic/products/new/42029-customized-pick-up-truck Quote
Zimix Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 Oh, and I did not even think to check there first, Some days ago , i checked for the 42030 and there where no BI on the Lego site, so I assumed it would not be for the 42029. Anyway, lesson learned. Will work on this file and publish it soon. Quote
Zimix Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 Still need assitance of an owner of this pick up truck. In the BI part list shows a string cord, but no length, which one is it 50 or 100 cm ? 50 would be my guess Quote
Blakbird Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 Personally, I place 42029 among the best sets of the last few years. We don't call them "big American trucks". To us they are just regular trucks. Personally, I am very glad that TLG chose to use the older suspension arms. They were impossible to find on BL any more, so this will help the secondary market tremendously. I also think the older arms and newer arms compliment each other, so I don't consider the new one a replacement. There is a reason that control arms are "A" shaped. The extra width at the root provides much more support for acceleration and braking forces, and therefore is more appropriate for larger models. The new arms would have to be reinforced with another link (like Crowkillers did with his Muscle Car). Quote
Rockbrick Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 very playable and customisable model but its just ugly and I have never seen a pickup with rear wishbone suspension first modification: rear live axle... This would be a C-model only set - i.e. whatever you come up with will be better than the A+B ones Quote
