arc Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 What sets would you want in a GB theme though? ecto-1, firehouse, stay-puft marshmallow man, the building where the ghostbusters defeat stay-puft, the hotel ballroom, there's many possibilities. Quote

just2good Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 When do we usually see box art for CUUSOO sets? Very close to its release. Quote
StuiterLEGO Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 (edited) Hopefully this is the right forum to post my LXF file. I've never used a forum before. When I saw the LEGO Ecto-1 coming up I got inspired and after spending a couple of hours in LDD, here's my version of the Ecto-1 fromGhostBusters. Hope you like it. ps. 28x 11477 white should be replaced by 14x 15068 white 21108 Ecto-1.lxf Edited April 23, 2014 by StuiterLEGO Quote
gherkin Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 Evening Guys, did try and search for this but for some reason it wouldn't allow me to. Basically does anyone know when we can expect this in the UK, the only reason I ask is I tried to ask in the Lego shop in Newcastle (UK) and was told that they weren't allowed to tell me. Would one presume that it is coming very soon? I even asked her that if she couldn't tell me could she hint (ie in a month or two months......no!!) Never had that before Quote
Cammo Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 ^There are rumours that it'll be available early for Lego VIP members starting the 15th of May. I think the official release is June 1st. Quote
gherkin Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 Ah that could have been why then, I just found it quite bizarre that she wasn't allowed to tell me, indicating that it was top secret and all that!! Quote

Never had that before I would assume it's June as with the rest of the world (though I would guess Australia will be behind as usual though) Also if anyone is interested, I started a facebook page for all things LEGO Ghostbusters, https://www.facebook.com/LegoGhostbusters I'll be posting more LEGO Ghostbusters MOCs, mine as well as others and encourage people to share their own as well. Robianco Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 (edited) The VIP May release is the carousel thing so that's the early June general release. A Lego employee told me last week that Ecto-1 wasn't due until later in the summer. Edited April 28, 2014 by Robianco Quote

I'm working on some stuff but it's hard trying to squeeze it all, I've got my local LUG (BrisBricks) expo in June so I'm preparing for that as well as some other stuff coming up. I did attempt one of the terror dogs but I've had to abandon it for now, I don't have enough parts, it's way too big for minifig scale (what I was aiming for) and the legs aren't supporting the weight atm. Here's what it did look like (reddish brown bricks were photoshopped to dark brown to see how it might have looked) I may come back to it when I have more time, maybe do it as a statue style display thing rather than minifig scale Edited April 28, 2014 by WetWired Quote

It looks very good in dark bricks. The eyes are superb! The almost have a metalic sparkle. Again, well done.! Edited April 29, 2014 by B Rick Quote

Fritzy Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 Perhaps they mean internationally, assuming the June release is for North America. Quote
Fritzy Posted May 2, 2014 Posted May 2, 2014 Comparison pics of the final Ecto-1 set vs. the original submission, courtesy of WetWired: Seeing as how the front of the box hasn't been shown in full (perhaps by stipulation?), I have a feeling this has the new 'Ideas' branding. Quote
Cammo Posted May 2, 2014 Posted May 2, 2014 Very nice preview images, this makes the waiting more bareable. Thanks! Quote
KCMatze Posted May 2, 2014 Posted May 2, 2014 (edited) for the homepage it says lego.com/ideas so I guess it should be new logo, or no logo ;) Nice comparison! WetWired/Brents chrome parts are way cooler, Venkmans haircut, too. But I think it turned out really well in the end. Ecto seems a bit shorter, but the tyres of the official one are really awesome. I am soooo looking forward to get my hands on that. Hope this gets released in Germany on June 1st also. Edited May 2, 2014 by KCMatze Quote

The box looks great, but it doesn't seem final (no set number/ages on it, let alone a name or piece count for the West). You can see the back shows a link to LEGO.com/ideas. Quote
