BlueberryWaffles Posted May 2, 2014 Posted May 2, 2014 Well there goes any hope of alternate parts for the 1A. But the set is REALLY nice. I only wish we could get the original Venkman hair and dat printed trap. (not to mention I am totally getting chrome parts off Bricklink to put on the new one) Quote
Faefrost Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 That's probably as close to perfect as we will get with a CuuSoo set. Yeah it lost the pop of the chrome parts, but I don't thing any of us really expected them in the production set. The front and rear fenders are a bit different. Not bad, but different. The front on the production model lacks Brent's curves, but it looks like they added some stability and a little more shaping to the sides of the hood. A fair compromise. The only mild disappointment is the rear fenders are much more pronounced in Brent's prototype. Can't really tell the reasons for the change from the pics though. The new approach still looks very good. Just not as good. Some minor changes to the greebling. Probably minor adjustments from available parts, part budget adjustments, etc. Marco's actually improved the details on the wheels, and it really adds to the Cadillac impression. The size and footprint of the model looks to be virtually the same as the prototype. Overall it enhances my impression of the fantastic job Brent Waller did on the prototype. Looking at the two side by side it is literally like looking at an actual Lego designers refined final prototype model next to the actual production model. I think the designers were able to skip over most of the pro type and initial design phases and jump straight into production refinement almost immediately. That's probably why it was able to jump ahead of the Exosuit in the queue. Brent gave them that good of a design to begin with. It was an actual viable set prototype and not simply a MOC. And that my friends is an impressive feat. Quote
WetWired Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 Thanks for the kind words Faefrost. Myself and my friend Cade have done a video review of the Ghostbusters set, if people like what we've done we'll likely do more video reviews for other sets so let us know if you liked the presentation. We've already learnt a lot and have improvements for next time but anyway, Quote

Blondie-Wan Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 It really is a lovely set. Kudos to Brent / WetWired, and to Marcos Bessa. I enjoyed your video. Nice to see you've got a buddy who's as into Ghostbusters as yourself! The "1980-something" theming for your series (?) is great for something launched in the year of The LEGO Movie and Benny the Spaceman, but of course also works perfectly with this set being the initial topic. Congrats! Quote
Ridge Montante Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 Just watched your Ghostbuster video review. Such a great looking set, can't wait to get mine. Since I live in NY the one thing I noticed though was the license plate. I'm wondering why they used the current yellow style instead of the old white one with the Statue of Liberty on it as used in the movies. Do you know why this was done Brent? Or anyone else? Quote
KCMatze Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 (edited) Has someone any information about the release in Germany and the price of the set? Edited May 4, 2014 by KCMatze Quote

It's actually that , it's the 2nd movie that has the white one with the statue of liberty on it Quote
Ridge Montante Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 It's actually that , it's the 2nd movie that has the white one with the statue of liberty on it That would explain it. Thanks Brent. And excellent job on the car once again. Quote
TeufelHund Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 It's a nice enough set but I'm not really enough of a Ghostbusters fan to get it. I do wonder though why they didn't include a Ghost figure...you would have thought it would be a no-brainer because at the moment you've got 4 ghostbusters all dressed up and nothing to catch... They did! You just can't see it ...it's a ghost! :-/ Despite my bad attempt at humor, I am still super excited about this set! Definitely a day one purchase! Quote
Legoman123 Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 Great review, I would love to see more reviews from you guys in the future. Quote
hachiroku Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 It's going to be released in june 1st, but it doesn't apper in the shop. Quote
WetWired Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 Great review, I would love to see more reviews from you guys in the future. Thanks!, we're both a bit busy over the next month so it might be a little while before we get to anything new, we also have the problem of being in Australia which consistently gets sets later than everywhere else. montgocloud Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 I wonder if the Ecto-1 will have a similar release to the Delorean in that its release in the LEGO store is earlier than the official shelf date. I remember coming in the minute the store opened on August 1 and walking out disappointed since they were already sold out as of the night before. And then it was sold out everywhere online for months. Hopefully this won't be a repeat of that situation and LEGO will produce a larger initial stock. Quote
KCMatze Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 I'd be happy if I see a valid release date for Germany anywhere... Even the storeguys don't have a clue (and if it should be in stores June 1st I assume they should have heard about it till now...)! Quote
TheLegoDr Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 I guess I wasn't thinking of them being sold out before the release date again. My Father's Day present was going to be this and a few other small sets. I wanted to order it from LEGO to get the balloon cart also. I guess if this is sold out, then I won't be getting that balloon cart and LEGO loses my money (but gains so much more money from everyone else).... Quote
BlueberryWaffles Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 That's why I'm doing what I did with the DeLorean: order off Shop@Home at midnight. Quote
jonwil Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 Anyone know when this will appear for us Aussies? I want to get one asap to avoid missing out (although I could wait a while and see if I can pick up a deal from Amazon or TRU USA...) Quote
WetWired Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 I can't confirm this but one retailer I spoke to said not til September Quote
jonwil Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 I suspect it will probably appear on Shop @ Home along with the rest of the world in June (at least I hope so) and then September is the date it appears in local shops. Quote
Panthro Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 I can't wait to get my hands on this - it looks excellent. Quote
SandMirror38 Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 What is the Australian RRP? And whats the American RRP? Quote
