rollermonkey Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 (edited) Overall it enhances my impression of the fantastic job Brent Waller did on the prototype. Looking at the two side by side it is literally like looking at an actual Lego designers refined final prototype model next to the actual production model. I think the designers were able to skip over most of the pro type and initial design phases and jump straight into production refinement almost immediately. That's probably why it was able to jump ahead of the Exosuit in the queue. Brent gave them that good of a design to begin with. It was an actual viable set prototype and not simply a MOC. And that my friends is an impressive feat. Agreed, 100% about how the Ecto-1 was nearly ready for release at the time of CUUSOO submission. I read somewhere that the Exosuit, although gorgeous, is very flimsy/unstable, and thus has been very difficult to develop a final production model. Also: <3<3<3 how even with great subtlety, those minifig faces for Stanz and Venkman are easily recognizable. Edited May 20, 2014 by rollermonkey Quote
Robianco Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 I just spoke to someone in the Liverpool store here in the UK and they've confirmed to be that it will be available in store on 1st June. Quote
Hulk_Smash Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 I just finished building mine and I love it! Just like the Delorean before it it is smaller then I thought but still brilliant! The figs are great too, each one having there initials of the torso is fantastic. I did have a small problem of seeming to not have enough small black studs at the end but I had some spares so it wasn't to much of a problem. Quote
Colossus Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 I just ordered 4 sets of custom arms with the GB shoulder patch from NACM, so they hopefully arrive the same time the CUUSOO set is available! Quote

bjorn77 Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 I just ordered a copy from ToyWarehouseUK. £49.99 + £12.98 shipping. I have no idea when this set will retail in Sweden and I couldn't wait. Deathstar, Parisian Café and now this on the same month's budget. I'm just about ruined. £49.99 Quote
Hulk_Smash Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 Where did you find it?? My local toys hop had it, even though she shouldn't have sold it till the first. Quote

Deathstar, Parisian Café and now this on the same month's budget. I'm just about ruined. £49.99 You probably did right, LEGO drives up the prices to absurd amounts here anyway - The Delorean had a RRP of 35 bucks/pounds, but we in Sweden got robbed - It was 549 SEK here, or 80 bucks/50 pounds!! Going by that logic, I'd expect the Ecto-1 to be atleast 699 SEK (over 100 bucks) here, maybe even more. Quote
bjorn77 Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 Yes, Lego is crazy expensive in Sweden, and sales are very rare. I buy most of my sets from either bricklink stores or amazon.co.uk. It's usually a lot cheaper, even when considering international shipping rates. Quote
Fritzy Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 For anyone interested, here's the listing for the Ecto-1: http://shop.lego.com/en-CA/Ghostbusters-Ecto-1-21108 Quote
Panthro Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 Just purchased two of them in the Lego Store in Liverpool. Apparently, they have now had permission to sell the set early. Quote

Legoman123 Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 I think I'll just wait until June 1st to purchase mine. Quote
KCMatze Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 Had a phone call yesterday with a storeworker in Essen, Germany. June 2nd is the day here. YAY!!! Quote
Robianco Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 Picked mine up... just waiting until tomorrow to get some build time and to add the NACM custom arms onto the figs to have those Ghost patches! Quote
SandMirror38 Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 Does anyone know what is the likleyhood that this will run out?? I'm going to America in September and wanna buy it cheaper there then in Aus, but I heard that the Mars Rover sold out and they arn't making anymore! What are the chances of this happening with the Ecto-1? Quote
CorneliusMurdock Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 They're still making Minecraft and BTTF sets. It might be sought after enough to make it harder to find than a normal set but it should definitely still be in production. Quote
eldiano Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 At first when they come out it's sold out for a month then they get stock and everyone is happy. Quote
wooble Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 This is not available on the New Zealand lego store either... can't wait, looks really good! Quote
Internets Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 I seen this at a uk independent store Will this turn up at Toysrus like the BTTF set? Quote
Prince Manic Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 (edited) This is epic with the Famous Ecto-1 I could do a special ghostbusters Crossover with the Lego Lone Ranger Train Chase and use just the locomotive as the ghost train and have them bust them ghosts XD or just build it and do a special Tribute, not sure what I'll do with it once I get it. The Joker1 Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 (edited) Went into the westfield store early this morning and saw about 8-10 ghost buster sets on display, When I went back to buy one just after lunch I found there were none left on display. After asking the very helpful shop assistant I was able to buy the very last copy from the back room. This must really be popular if a main london store sold out around lunch!
