BlueberryWaffles Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 Mine came today. ITS SO COOOOOOL. the minifigs are just awesome. I wasn't a huge fan of the brick-built packs and still am not, but I have my Brickforge ones. (which are really good by the way. And they also have PKE meters and Ecto Goggles!) the faces are spot-on. The car is bigger than you think, much longer than the DeLorean. Looks just superb. Only thing is, it only fits 3 guys and 1 pack. I modified it by taking out the middle window support and replacing the tiles with stick...thingies with normal 1x2 tiles. This way fits all four inside, plus enough room in back for all 4 BrickForge packs, Ecto Goggles, and PKE and two or three radios. When you put the front windshield on it's still completely stable. The roof I also did one little thing; put a silver stud on where the pipe is, squishing it together and making it look like two pipes instead of one. So I got that going for me, which is nice. The instructions and box are awesome as CUUSOO standards. Except where it says Zuul in the movie description it should say Gozer. Overall probably the best set I've built this year. Any GB fan should pick it up. Quote

It's pretty nice and I'm get some plate and use it under the ecto-1 so it looks a little bit nicer so yeah, overall it's neat to have. Oh I also done your mini mod with my two extra medium stone grey 1x2 pieces I had - I've noticed it works but when I have the time I'll order up two medium stone grey plates when I have the Chance I'll just have use the 1x2 with sticks until I get some. kevin8 Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 Got mine today, too (OH YEAH!!). If anyone is interested in seeing pictures of the guys with the NACM custom printed arms, here is one! [One with print, one without to see the difference They all have one now, of course] Sorry for the crappy iphone picture. Sorry for the silly question, maybe I should read the whole thread... But, any link where I can get the arms? Quote

Yeah, the one thing is you need two light grey 1x2s or all four still can't fit. As for what to take out, there's two 1x4 bricks that have claw things to hold the windows. Take out the entire middle one. Everything, all the way to the 1x4 tile. Make sure the front windshield is still on as that secures it. Quote
KCMatze Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 They make the set even more awesome, good decision :) Quote
HawkLord Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 Was able to get two this past weekend, which was a welcome change from the BTTF set which had a limit of one when it first came out. Overall, this is easily "set of the year" for me. I normally don't care too much about car builds, but this one puts together nicely. I especially like the front grill section and display stand. This set feels very "complete" to me even without slimer. Quote
BlueberryWaffles Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 Totally set of the year for me too. I agree, the front looks really nice. And it's sturdy too. I dropped it (on purpose for scientific reasons) from about a foot. Right side up nothing broke. Upside down only the ladder came off. Impressive. Quote

Impressive. whu would you do that?? :( got mine yesterday, build it today. what an awesome set! always loved ghostbusters. i don't care about the display stand much. so that is back in the box i display it like this: 2 figs in the car, one on the ladder and one walking. BlueberryWaffles Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 I dropped it because the DeLorean was sturdy and I wanted to see if this one was too. Quote

I've used one of my white holders and a black 1x1 plate and stuff it at the back and it's holding pretty well as the arms of the 3rd section are slightly up to hold the window in place something like this This a small mini opening when the roof is on and it doesn't effect it at all not at an angle ^ my original idea for this I've completely engineered the windows this photo - I know I didn't focus it but it shows on how I've done it oh the windows are now straight up now Edited June 6, 2014 by Prince Manic Quote
SandMirror38 Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 Could somebody post a comparison picture of the Ghostbusters box to the BTTF one? By which I mean putting the smaller box ontop of the other one, I'm asking this because I have a shelf with my BTTF box and the set infront of it and I wanna put the GB one next to it. Thanks all Quote
The Jersey Brick Guy Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 I finally got around to building my Ecto-1. Just wow! It is awesome! Sandmirror38, I'll try and get a picture of the boxes tomorrow for you. Quote
Master_Data Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 (edited) The promo video describing the development of the set from fan model to set is now up on the LEGO Youtube channel! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Br-csfJMph4 Edited June 13, 2014 by Master_Data Quote
Tomsche Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 Got mine last week, really loved it. I also blogged up a short piece on it when building it, which can be found here Quote
Al CZ Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 I'm very dissapointed with TLC :( I order this set last week. In my order was Ecto, key ring and ballon chart free polybag. I received e-mail - your packet is on the way...and track code... Today i received packet... And - isn't the the box too light ? I open it - and - Superman key ring is here. Ballon chart is here - but - WHERE ARE MY GHOSTBUSTERS ?!!!! On delivery note are only two items... I call to call line of TLC... And ? This set is now withdhrawn from market, and instruction manual is newly printed and tied... But they can't ask me when i received my set... This is really crazy logic... They don't me send e-mail, "Sir your order isn't complete and will be delayed." I must wait now :( and i don't know how long :( Quote
Heppeng Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 Dunno about withdrawn from market, lego UK shows 'temporarily out of stock'. Quote
Al CZ Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 (edited) Yup ! I have it now - and is really - awesome !!! Maybe probably best series car in minifig scale in Lego History. And minifigs ? Superb ! Edited June 27, 2014 by Al CZ Quote
ShadowWolfHount Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 I just order the set yesterday but I may have a feeling it's not going to be that good to keep it together and I just going to us it for parts. Quote
Prince Manic Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 (edited) I plan to get another one and use the three minifig heads for recreating the Get Her scene with close bodies to represent the three. once I use the pieces I'll follow Brent's Ecto-1a LDD to build myself the Ecto-1a and use my whipped up decals and use waterslides to have them on. and get some pieces from Lego's replacement bricks service and buy them on what I need, Also my new holders for it are on the way including my final detailing mods to bring the Ecto-1 to a more of a cadlliac look! Faefrost Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 (edited) Loosely related but they have released a trailer for the 30th Anniversary Labor Day Weekend Theatrical re release, and the restored film looks GORGEOUS! This ought to inspire a few more MOC's. Edited July 11, 2014 by Faefrost Quote

Prince Manic Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 Never seen that, but I've done a little topic about my final mods I've done to mine if you're interested of making your Lego Ecto-1 much like the car from the movie here it is - http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=97699 I've got a video on there on what I've did to mine. Still have plans to get like one more and make the -1A version myself. Quote
