Dr Leg O Brick Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 I know I've posted here before, but I just wanted to say a big thank you to WetWired and Cuusso for making this possible. One of my fondest memories from my childhood was dressing up as a Ghostbuster, my school doing one of them "dress up as your favourite person" kind of days. I went in a tan tracksuit with a huge belt, and a beer crate strapped to my back, covered in back paper with a garden hose hanging out the side for my power pack. I'm still in shock that were getting this at all, let alone so quick. And all printed pieces? Stand? Spot on mini figs? 6 wide? 100 per cent accurate to the film? Interior? For all its problems, I love Cuusso for letting me have the opportunity to own a Delorean and now Ecto 1. I eagerly await a review in June. Quote
kinggregus Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 This will be my first CUSOO purchase, and what a purchase.... The design seems to be simply astonishing. I would not be surprised if this was to become a bestseller. Quote
deskp Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 (edited) This should be interesting. But I agree, TLG seems to stay away from bigger sets of any kind. It can be harder to sell bigger sets, and they take longer to make so it makes sense. ALSO when peopel vote on quusoo they say waht they would pay for a set, I assume most people might not put 100$+ I think its great with sets at this medium price point. Makes special sense with old frances like this. makes it kindof a "novelty buy" for alot of people who might not normally buy lego. Edited February 17, 2014 by deskp Quote
Blondie-Wan Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 Congrats, WetWired. You must be so (justifiably!) proud. The set looks great, and I can't wait to add it to my own collection. They should make a lego classic movie theme they already did BTTF and now ghostbusters I hope next we get the jeep from Jurassic park Jurassic Park is a no-go - Hasbro has the rights, and will be making KRE-O Jurassic Park sets to accompany the next movie (though LEGO did make some JP sets back in the early 2000s, as a subtheme of LEGO Studios). jimoakley666 Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 I am ecstatic at the final model. Although I do wonder about the rather tenuous build on the side windows of the car. I hate tenuous building where parts are balanced, glued, cut, wedged, patched up with stickers or paint etc... If it doesn't stand up to play then it's a failed build as far as I'm concerned. So I am curious to see what's going on there. Other than that one point though... Ace. Love the minifigs (would've been nice to have the shoulder patch though) and look forward to building brick versions of Ghosts from the movies. Mr Stay Puft. Slimer. Helldogs. Zombie Taxi driver. CorneliusMurdock Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 Judging from FBTB's pics of the interior, the windows look somewhat stable to me. It looks like they're held in place at more than one point. With the roof on, they should be secure enough to roll around. Some builds are more stable too, than people realize. My son (who just turned 3 last week) has played with the Delorean several times and I'm always surprised how well it holds up. Even when he threw it one time, all that came off was one back piece and a windshield piece. Quote
Moebius118 Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 The construction of the Ecto 1 is astounding. I have only one question though. I have a poor sense of scale or size, do you think this will work well with all our other city vehicles? Seems large enough to the point where it is almost as wide as the giant Super Secret Police truck and the length of a city bus. Seems like neither are suitable for our Lego city streets. :( Quote
Heppeng Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 I'll get one, my intention is to park it up outside the haunted house with the ghostbusters walking to the door. It will hopefully be sufficiently far away from the other vehicles for any scale discrepancies to be not to noticeable. Quote

Zzz Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 So many great sets coming out this year, and Lego is especially keen on the nerds money. If you grew up in the 80s or 90s, many sets are a dream come true this year: Bennys Spaceship, Mos Isley Cantina, Star Destroyer, Agents Tron vehicle, The Simpsons house, Marvel sets, Hobbit sets, the Turtles lair. But I feel this one here is special, or at least to me it is. Quote
Floundie Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 That's exactly what I did with the CUUSOO model at the last local BrisBricks Expo... I'm sure it's been asked before, but how did you achieve the lighting effects on the car? Lifelites? Quote
WetWired Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 I'm sure it's been asked before, but how did you achieve the lighting effects on the car? Lifelites? I used really tiny LEDs called SMD LEDs from this place http://www.modeltrainsoftware.com/ They're really tiny and fit inside the transparent bricks, and the wires are so fine they can easily fit between to connected bricks. tafkatb Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Boring...where is the exo suit at? Did you join the forum just to say that? Real question: is there a confirmed piece count for this set anywhere? Quote
romulan Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 (edited) Did you join the forum just to say that? Real question: is there a confirmed piece count for this set anywhere? Yes I did. The moc is nice, don't get me wrong, Ghostbusters in not my cup of tea though. I just wish they would finish one CUUSOO project before announcing another. Back-to-back vehicles from old movies (BTTF now this) doesn't really sit well with me either. Edited February 18, 2014 by romulan Quote
Dorayaki Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 (edited) Awesome set, Egon looks a bit dopey though. And I'm not sure about Peter's hair. Even the regular brown hair (the one used in the '80s) would've been more accurate. Yes, not sure I'm happy about it. Unfortunately we can't produce other types of product suggestions, such as computer software/games, websites, apps, books, or non-brick branded items from LEGO CUUSOO projects. We also can't produce new LEGO parts within the scope of LEGO CUUSOO. If this rule is undeniable, it is the very major reason why Peter defends hair loss can't maintain his hairstyle. Here is the issue: would it make all licensed Cuusoo characters doomed to be "incomplete" while TLC is still able to make other licensed characters perfect? Suppose that Iron Man was achieved as a Cuusoo project at first, I bet TLG would have just printed the mask on his face . Edited February 18, 2014 by Dorayaki Quote
Robianco Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 I don't think Cussoo is failing.... Nor do I think this or any of the other item are boring. I think it's down to submissions and what gets 10,000 votes. Factor in the practical licensing and sales issues then you have what we currently do. I've stated before that I wouldn't allow licensed items on Cussoo as a general rule but that's not going to happen. I'm looking forward to Exo Suit but marketing reasons put Ghostbusters release before it... 30th Anniversary is just something you can't ignore. I think the set looks great and will definitely be purchased. Ecto-1 is superb and the hair pieces don't bother me at all... Hair is always a bit of a factor with Lego figures... Especially emulating the likeness of someone. Quote
Mencot Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 (edited) This is a nice set, will probably be my first CUUSOO set also. TLG did do a better job with designing this set then the BTTF set, especially the car but also the minifigs have gotten a better design to them here. Altough I did like the Marty and Doc figs but not the car (that is why I didn´t get it) Has there been any official price tag on this one yet? Edited February 18, 2014 by Mencot Quote

A good thing they're not back-to-back, then (since the MSL Curiosity Rover and the Exo-suit come between the two). Has there been any official price tag on this one yet? $49.99 (US). Quote

Then express that in a better way, don't insult the creator of the project who has been kind enough to post here about things. If you want to talk about Cuusoo itself and other projects that appeal to you more, this isn't the thread for it. Quote

davesherratt Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Definately going to be ordering this. Quote
Kintobor Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Oh, wow, how did I miss this! It looks absolutely astounding. Honestly, I don't think it could've looked any better. Now the only thing I'm worried about is it's cost. I'm hoping $60 CAN. Quote
