Chuck Posted April 24, 2007 Posted April 24, 2007 Sombody seems to have the new Hogwarts set. Enjoy! -l2k- Quote
Scouty Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 I think I deffinately have to buy this set, it has BUNCHES OF NEAT PIECES. Just watching the video makes it nice! Quote
PSPguy Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 Nice pics. *y* But who the flip is the n00b wit teh big eyes and hood? I read the book and my best bet is Vold...I mean he-who-must-not-be-named. :-P Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 I enjoyed watching the assembly of the castle. That was pretty slick. It actually looks like a pretty nice set. Quote
Hinckley Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 Thanks for sharing. I like this better than the first pics we saw of it. I like that LEGO is approaching it as more of a playset than a model. I also like that snape and voldemort don't have glow in the dark heads. What was up with that anyway? Great new female hairpieces too! Quote
simonwillems Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 Thanks for sharing this with the community. I like the way the thing is build in the little movie, that must have been a lot of work filming it... I don't really see in what way this "castle" is different from the two others we had before, just some more tan half-towerpieces and green cones. This set has all the things I've missed in Harry Pottersets the past years, namely the fact that when you put all the sets together you still can't make a realistic (like in the film) looking castle. It stays a bunch of opened playsets with some nice features inside but not enough to get me interested. I'm sure though that when you are a real Harry Potter-lego-fan you'll be overjoyed with the things this set has to offer. :-/ Quote

gylman Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 It's better than the first castle, and not as good as the second. It's better than I thought it would be from the initial pictures. I think that if you take about 3 of these, and 1 or 2 of the first castles and second castle, it shoudl be possible to construct quite a respectable Hogwarts. I presume basically they are using this set to sell some more of the parts they made lots of in the past. They did not want to make a big committment to HP this year. I believe most of the 2005 sets sold relatively poorly. The exception was the Graveyard Duel. All the others were available on substantial discounts either at S@H or TRU. Frankly, they deserved to - they were not great sets. It's funny, looking at eBay, it seems that the most successful HP set of all time is actually the Diagon Alley which routinely sells for 2-3 x retail, or more. All those teeny bits and bobs are quite helpful to have. I wish I had bought a dozen of those when they were available for 12 dollars each in Canada (at full retail, even less on sale). Quote
Vader Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 I love the new faces and hairpieces, anyone else notice the face on the bottom of the plant? Quote
Sir Kohran Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 I love the new faces and hairpieces, anyone else notice the face on the bottom of the plant? Yes, I think that might make for a very good screaming Orc. :-X Quote
phoinix Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 amazing review!! love everything about it ecxept the castle!! :-D its too bulky and there are too many large pieces! :-X it looks good as a play set but its an awuful model.. really empty from the outsite but it looks great on the inside! so many cute details and parts overall lovely playset but terrible design.. should work great for kids but not for me lovely minifigs and accesories and its a shame that this is the only HP set for this year i used to get a few smaller HP sets for the cool parts but this should be too ecxpensive! also great colors...but still when i look at it on the outsite i think empty empty empty empty!!! |-/ Quote
BearHeart Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 Funny, I was actually daydreaming yesterday about buying this set. I think it looks awesome, all the little neat accessories and attention to detail is what makes HP LEGO one of my favorite themes. I love the new minifigs, especially the death-eater head...WOW *y* *y* . This set is definately #1 on my shopping list for this summer. I'm buying as soon as I see it in stores. Too bad its the only HP set this year :'-( Quote
Athos Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 Shouldn't this be on the main page? Steve, who thinks this year is going to be even more expensive that previously thought... Quote
Christian Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 I dont think it will last long before this set shows up on S@H, because pics have allready been uploaded here. Quote
Aredhel Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 I hope to have the money one day to buy this set. As Harry Potter AND Lego fan, its a must. It is a really great set. -Aredhel Quote
alex54 Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 It looks better than in the frist pics! I really like it! But contrary to the second Hogwart, this castle needs a lot of omdification to fit in a town. The bad point for me are the new head of Ron and Hermione, who look like they are 50s! Quote
Wout Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 I think the second castle is better. This has too much colours and pieces from the first two series. It has nice pieces, a greenhouse without professor Pomfry, but with a nice mandrakeplant, The biggest villain in the whole line: Dolores Umbridge (no sorry Voldy, she is just more evil :-D ), a new better face for Snape, new hair for Hermiony and a very decorative masked deatheather (Bellatrix Lestrange?), 2 thestrals and the not different Harry, Ron, Dumbledore and Hagrid. Pity there are no others sets, and very pity there are no centaurs, not even Firenze. If its on sale I will maybe buy it (I have already so much harry potter) Quote
