jorgeopesi Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 I would like to propose my caterpillar 6090, honestly I think it's my best MOC but I don´t know if it is enough to be here. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=73415&hl=shovel Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 Please stop submitting your own models,it will be up to the technic jury and the technic staff members to decide what goes up. Quote
jantjeuh Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 (edited) Well this might be an unpopular opinion, but I think this 'Hall of Fame' is getting a bit diluted. Seems like any Technic MOC that is big and looks half-way decent is being added. Some MOCs like Madoca's Wing Truck and Nathanaël Kuipers' Concept Car are true masterpieces: good-looking, complex, lots of functionality, fun to build, and excellent build quality and use of parts. It's a bit of a shame to lump them in with all the others. Now it's more like a MOC index than a real 'Hall of Fame'. Note: just to prevent predictable replies, this is just my opinion, and I haven't created any good MOCs myself, I'm aware of this. Edited June 29, 2014 by jantjeuh Quote

Lipko Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 (edited) I agree and don't agree at the same time. Maybe there should be a separate topic for true legends and a topic for notable MOCs. I see point in notable MOCS, because most people who would visit the true HoF topic on Eurobricks knows all the legends anyway, but even regular members can miss awesome models that aren't buzzed. Or at least apply some grouping. For example all the Tug-boats could go in one post instead of occupying 4. But It's pretty hard to decide what to put in a real hall of fame. The number of fan builds or the occurrence or references of a model in blogs? Edited June 29, 2014 by Lipko Quote
jantjeuh Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 Yeah, it's hard to judge MOCs objectively. Would be cool to have some kind of review section for MOCs, especially since some creators now charge money for the instructions. I've bought instructions for some MOCs that I've afterwards regretted buying, because the build quality was so poor. Quote
jorgeopesi Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 I have to apologize, it is not appropriate to propose your own project but I saw my Huayra and I went crazy, that MOC is not the best I've done, but I'm not the one who evaluates projects. Thank you DK3 . Quote

But as jantjeuh already said: this is just my humble opinion and i didn't want offending anybody out there... and to be honest: all MOCs currently listed in the HoF are far better than anything i could design from scratch... but what i can is: To distinguish between outstanding models (regadless if from TLG or being a MOC) and "just" good" or very good models.... Alasdair Ryan Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 (edited) I can understand your points of views but actually I don't think it was ever going to be a proper Hall Of Fame,if you read the description on the front page it states the conditions of models being entered. The Hall Of Fame was Jim's original idea, so it will be down to him to adjust the guidelines were he sees fit. I would like to propose jorgeopesi's caterpillar 6090, honestly I think it's his best MOC but I don´t know if it is enough to be here. It is a good moc but I just had a request from the builder himself asking for it to be added. Edited June 29, 2014 by Alasdair Ryan Quote
Jim Posted June 30, 2014 Author Posted June 30, 2014 I personally think that the concept of the Hall of Fame should be taken a bit more lightly than some of you apparently do. The Hall of Fame represents a collection of great MOCs, not only legendary ones. Looking at the Hall of Fame right now, I don't think there are a lot of "sub par" entries. In my opinion Alasdair has done (and is doing) a great job of adding the right models. Legendary MOCs can be found in Sariel's new book http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=97236 Quote
anton1678 Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=68317 That is definitely 'sub par' If that's in the Hall of Fame, I could name about a million other models that should be Quote
Jim Posted June 30, 2014 Author Posted June 30, 2014 That model was a contest winner for the Sail the Technic Sea contest. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=66837 And like I stated in the first post, all contest winners will be added to the Hall of Fame. (granted, it wasn't 1st, 2nd or 3rd, but that's because there were 6 winning entries for that contest) Quote
Kumbbl Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 (edited) That is definitely 'sub par' If that's in the Hall of Fame, I could name about a million other models that should be this and some other like (which have not "won" the entry ;-): <snip> No doubt, most of the entries in the HoF are outstanding models - but these above are - at least IMHO - sub-par with all these other legends - to be honest: they are good models but way sub-par... and such sub-par entries devaluate the HoF at all because it brings in an arbitrariness... Anyway, not a big deal, just my 2 ct... Edited June 30, 2014 by Alasdair Ryan Please be respectful of others hard work Quote
jantjeuh Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 (edited) Not necessary to call out individual MOCs IMO. Edited June 30, 2014 by jantjeuh Quote

Legendary MOCs can be found in Sariel's new book http://www.eurobrick...showtopic=97236 Yes, I understand that contest winners should be immortalised somewhere, but maybe not in the Hall of Fame, that should be reserved for only the best The contest winners are good, but not worthy of a spot in the Hall of Fame. They deserve a space somewhere else, perhaps in a 'Contest Winners' Topic? Quote
hrontos Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 (edited) The contest winners are good, but not worthy of a spot in the Hall of Fame. May be I do not understand the point of the Hall of Fame correctly, but I like the idea of having a topic with a list of good models. If you put level too high, you will get a useless 5 models topic. Each of the models in the Hall of Fame is interesting by something - either nice design, good functions or a good usage of number of limited parts or even original first attempts to create something on topic. I do not want the Hall of Fame to be a set of models where each has to be at least 5kg, 7000+ parts and 10 motors. I would like to see many models which look like designed by a professional designer or TLG. Even smaller ones. Because it is not easy to make even a small model professionaly. jorgeopesi Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 What is the policy with the use of non Lego pieces?, 99 technic 1 no-lego, 98 technic 2 no-lego?. Quote
Meatman Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 (edited) What is the policy with the use of non Lego pieces?, 99 technic 1 no-lego, 98 technic 2 no-lego?. I remember reading awhile ago that some people didn't consider the Ferrari racers(8653 8145) Technic and they were almost 100% Technic. Edited July 1, 2014 by Meatman Quote
Meatman Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 i think he is talking about custom parts Yeah, you're right. I thought at first he meant how much of a model had to be Technic for it to be considered Technic. Quote
Meatman Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 (edited) What models in the Hall are using non Lego parts? I didn't notice any. Edited July 1, 2014 by Meatman Quote
