legomuppet9 Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 My Swingloader, for one, uses a non-existing 24 tooth gear With a possibility to use the 16t gear instead if I recall... just think of that one Quote

dhc6twinotter Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 That is definitely 'sub par' If that's in the Hall of Fame, I could name about a million other models that should be I disagree. That is an excellent moc and completely worthy of being in HOH. That boat looks great, has some nice functions, and all the parts came from one smallish set. Not many people could build a better small boat, even if they had an entire LEGO collection worth of parts to use. Jim, Blakbird, and Alasdair Ryan are doing a fine job here. Quote
N-4K0 Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 Regarding Technic parts - as long as the custom parts are official Technic parts, shouldn't the model still be considered 100% Technic? I mean, even though some parts are cut and have something missing, it's still an official part. Quote

As far as I know they are custom parts made with 3d printer or something similar, tyres are from RC cars. Quote
N-4K0 Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 (edited) Non-Lego tires and 3D printed parts cannot be called Technic, that I agree with. If the point was regarding those, I get it. Still, as said, I personally view it as 100% Technic if the custom parts are official parts that are cut. To some degree, at least. Edited July 1, 2014 by Error404 Quote

To some degree, at least. 100% Technic to me means 100% of the parts(Or the vast majority used) fall under the Technic category... If someone who knew very little about what Technic was viewed that Hall of Fame thread, they would be very confused... The "Technic Hall of Fame" should probably be called the "Advanced Building Hall of Fame" since it covers models that are both primarily just Technic along with ones that use more system bricks than Technic ones... Just my opinion of course... Edited July 1, 2014 by Paul Boratko Quote

Just my opinion of course... If it was advanced building then that would include stunning models from other sections of the forums too which would fall under that category? like star wars etc? maybe it should be Technic, Model Team and Mindstorms Hall of Fame? Also I agree with others that a model doesnt have to have 4,000,000 pieces and weigh 50kg to get into the hall of fame (no exaggeration with the figures... ), Mini models are incredibly hard to do, taking part in the MINI contest has shown me this, so all stunning models should be in it, not just ones made by people who have loads of money to buy loads and loads of LEGO, and of course an understanding partner Edited July 2, 2014 by legomuppet9 Quote
anton1678 Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 (edited) Ok, you have all changed my opinion on the Hall of Fame. It is hard to make small models, and anyone should be able to make it to the Hall of Fame, not only someone with 4,000,000 parts and 60 powered functions Paul Boratko: Yes, I agree in some points, but you see a lot of functions under that non-technic shell Edited July 2, 2014 by anton1678 Quote
