Alfadas Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 I, Mandred Mandredson, Alfadas older brother (I know, Alfadas inherited my fathers position, just because I don't want any responsibility on a lot of people), opened a weapons store with some financial support from Alfadas before he left. It is still a small shop, but when I make a lot of profit, I will expand my store. I sell only weapons and armory now, but also that will change. The store has a lot of customers, and I don't think I can handle it all. I might need to hire a blacksmith. No problem, enough blacksmiths here and there. But that is in the future. I once was a good warrior, guarding the town of my brother. When he left, I got the lead of the town. I didn't like it, so I gave the leadership to another brother, Nólaf. He is a good leader and promised he would support my shop. And there leaves a happy woman, with the birthday presents for her husband. How nice. And there is a nice nobleman from a big town far away, buying my best shield. I used it a few years, and it is still a good shield. Here I am again with another entry for AoM challenge, this time it is the store phase l. That is it, hope you like it. To be continued.... Quote
DrColossus Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 I like it! His hat is pretty great! To make it look more store-like you could potentially drop a small pile of coins on the counter, if you have them, or possibly put a rack or shelf behind the guy. But that's all for Phase II. This is really a good start, and the story fits the action well. Quote
Lord Vladivus Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 Nice start! I love that Laketown guard helm, it fits so well in Mitgardia! Quote
mpoh98 Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 Very nice start, the story is great so far! Quote
Alfadas Posted February 6, 2014 Author Posted February 6, 2014 Thanks all of you. Indeed the shelves and coins was my idea for phase ll, along with the blacksmith to make weapons/armory. Phase lll would be a complete building with interior, but that is going to be a lot of work, first I want to upload other phase l's. Quote

If you need a blacksmith, Olin's looking for a job! ;-) But the horse comes with him, and he's a bit of trouble... Quote
MKJoshA Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 This is a good start, but I really think you should work on your photography. Try using the Macro setting. Also, your builds would benefit greatly from a base built under the MOC. Quote
Alfadas Posted February 6, 2014 Author Posted February 6, 2014 MKJoshA, I already use Macro. And I know a base is better, will try one next MOC. DrC, Thanks for the offer, but indeed the horse is a bit of a problem. I am sure someone else nice will offer you a nice job. In the town there is a dwarf blacksmith, and he is really good. Quote
Gunman Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 Nice little store Alfadas :) Well done. *try evenly light your mocs and not straight flash them from close. Quote
soccerkid6 Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Looks like he has quite the business going Is this supposed to be a scene inside his shop? If so I'd suggest adding a back wall at least to show it's inside, if not I'd add a little roof and path to the shop Quote
Alfadas Posted February 7, 2014 Author Posted February 7, 2014 This was planned as just a market stand, but indeed I could have added a roof. But that is for phase ll (big update). Quote
de Gothia Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 Looks good for sure! Perhaps some walls or something to make it even more better? And what is the thing with you and the flash? I´ve said it on every single moc you have posted that you should not use the flash and every time you say you should improve..? The thing about GoH is not to pump out 200 mocs but to build, learn from the critique you get and improve. That is for the photo as well I think. Hope you don´t take this wrong, I´m just trying to encourage you to get some better pics on your lovely mocs! Quote
Alfadas Posted February 8, 2014 Author Posted February 8, 2014 Thanks. Yeah I know I need to improve my photographing skills. My latest build is photographed without flash, but I don't think the pics are better. But I keep trying to improve the pics. I just need to wait till a sunny day and then take pics. But I am impatient, so I take pics all the time. From now on, I will wait till a sunny day, and I won't use flash ever again, promise! Quote
de Gothia Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 You don't need a sunny day. A day with clouds is even better!! Quote
Alfadas Posted February 8, 2014 Author Posted February 8, 2014 But when you take pics inside close to a window, you need sun. Otherwise it is too dark. Quote
