Pat-Ard Posted February 12, 2014 Author Posted February 12, 2014 Hi Igor, thanks for your comments. Yes, those WFtracs are really cool. I'm excited to see photos. I like the old series very much, too. I live not far from Gaggenau. And in the black forest they use those 406 very often... Pat Quote

Pat than you live in somewhere in Baden Wurttemberg...even today when someone calls on phone my father and when he is in the bathroom we joke that he is in Baden Baden (you understand that I do not think about Casino). Older models are based on MBtrac 1500 with portal axes (if I'm not mistaken), when we talk about it I can send you photos with lime container block to see what I meant. WhatI wanted to make is wftrax 6 X 6 but have no those wheels http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=41896&colorID=34&in=A I need 4 of them for this model for this model http://www.werner-trier.com/1/wf-trac/4-x-4/ I need only one more of this http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=47676&colorID=34&in=A to fit scale of my tractors I need to make mog based on this wheel/tire combination http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=32019 on http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=86652 or http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=32020 Even in Croatia (where I'm from) there are mostly U406 mogs used in forestry, but I saw one mbtrac 800 in the field and one mbtrac 1500 at one electric power plant. those mogs U406 are built with their 6cylinder 5.7l engines for eternity Quote
Pat-Ard Posted February 12, 2014 Author Posted February 12, 2014 Yes, I understand... This is a running gag... Yes, they look very similar... I didn't even know that these wheel exists in lime... Yes, they are really made for eternity. Quote
1gor Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 Hi again, thanks for all your comments and feedback! @I_Igor: Thanks for the link. I personally would prefer red rims - that would be great. I already have attachments in my mind. Just wait and see . And as I wrote before all attachments for the U400 (8110) are compatible with this MOC. Pat Hi, images are here (when folder will be published) http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=539984 I have problem with uploading images to forum so please accept this delay Quote

Pat-Ard Posted February 13, 2014 Author Posted February 13, 2014 Hi I_Igor, thanks for the pictures... But I have to say, that those configs don't appeal to me... I prefer the version with the 6x6 dish... Pat Quote

Pat-Ard Posted February 13, 2014 Author Posted February 13, 2014 Hmmm, no, I think lbg wheels with red dishes. Black and red look more like a racing car :-) Quote
1gor Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Hmmm, no, I think lbg wheels with red dishes. Black and red look more like a racing car :-) It's OK with me whatever you make. There is no need to argue about esthetic, beauty was always in the eye of beholder anyway. I Quote
stefan_betula_pendula Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Really great model, I hope we can see it in action soon! I also would prefer to use the 6x6 dishes in red as wheel covers. Otherwise together with all the attachments it would be a bit too much red for my taste. Quote
Pat-Ard Posted February 22, 2014 Author Posted February 22, 2014 Hi folks, new pictures and a small video... The towing shield needs a little overdo... Actual funktions in the U406: L-motor for driving S-motor for steering M-motor for rear power out M-motor for pneumatic pump... The double drum winch on the bed has it's own M-motor. Have fun... Oh, and the 6x6 dishes are on the way... And the video: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/21147896/U406_video_720.mov Pat Quote
UniverseBoy Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 awesome unimog. looks professional if you ask me. maybe you should put it on CUUSOO Quote
Pat-Ard Posted February 22, 2014 Author Posted February 22, 2014 Thanks... But I don't think, that I match the qualities for cuusoo... Quote

Pat-Ard Posted March 15, 2014 Author Posted March 15, 2014 Yes, they do. And the thanks go to efferman!!! Pat Quote
stefan_betula_pendula Posted March 16, 2014 Posted March 16, 2014 Referring to your post in efferman's topic, indeed the grey rims look better then the black ones. Quote
unimog123 Posted March 16, 2014 Posted March 16, 2014 Wow, those rims really complete the model. Quote
Pat-Ard Posted March 18, 2014 Author Posted March 18, 2014 Thanks, yes, they are the icing on the cake... The purists won't accept or understand it, but in my opinion Lego is about fun and eachone owns qualitiy standards. These covers were an opportunity and the result is great... Quote
zux Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 Thanks, yes, they are the icing on the cake... The purists won't accept or understand it, but in my opinion Lego is about fun and eachone owns qualitiy standards. These covers were an opportunity and the result is great... I'd say such addition is completely fine even with purists since you add a visual improvement only. And you don't cheat wth part modification i.e. making live easier. Quote
Pat-Ard Posted March 20, 2014 Author Posted March 20, 2014 I really would like to have a statement from a purist regarding the usage of these covers... Quote
Milan Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 I really would like to have a statement from a purist regarding the usage of these covers... I think it is important what you like. If you like these, go for it. I, as purist, am impressed how good these parts look on a model, and I praise Effe for creating themand like to track his topic, but I wouldn't use them. I would rather find LEGO solution, even if it take lots of time for finding best solution and even if it doesn't look as good as custom parts. But, to each his own :) Quote
Pat-Ard Posted February 8, 2015 Author Posted February 8, 2015 HI folks, sorry, for the necropost, but it's my thread ;) Overdid the U406 a little... Changed the rear shield and the rollcage. And the mounting of the M-motor and the airpump. Lots of small details... The U406 looks good together with his small brother U411 :) And finally I added a new winch, but the winch needs some more work, so no pictures atm. So far Pat Quote
