This is my 3rd topic I posted here, and I was reading through some pirate topics just before writing this, and decided to make a topic about what pirate fans would want to see in the next pirate theme. I love pirates, but oddly, I only have about 4 pirate sets! I have the POTC captain's cabin and black pearl. I also have, from the 2009 pirate theme, the pirates island-hideout-thingy, with the island mold and really nice navy rowboat, and the soilder's fort. But since I was young when the '09 theme came out, I didn't really get that many sets. So, just like most of you, I want a new pirates theme.

What this theme is for is so that we can list some sets you would like to see made in the next pirates theme. Not just one set, but the whole theme! Here's mine:

Pirate raft: it is a wooden raft that has a small sail and lookout tower. On the raft is a treasure chest and crate with weapons. This is similar to 2009's pirate raft. It would include 2 pirate minifigures and a fish. $12

Red coat hideout: a 16x16 baseplate in blue that has some tan and green plates in the middle. Using the wall pieces from the old solider's fort, it would be a 3-story narrow building with crane and lookout telescope on the roof. There would be a small wall next to the building with cannon and ammo. There would also be a navy blue boat with red coat flag. It would include a red coat officer and 2 red coat solider's with white backpacks. $20

Pirate island: a new island mold that is bigger than the '09 one. On it is a dock with chain to tie a boat up to, and a 2-story building with walkway on the second floor. The first floor has a table with map and 2 stools, for when the captain comes to visit. The second floor has a jail cell and the outside walkway is wide enough to open the door. Outside is a small fire and some plants and a palm tree. It would include 2 pirates and a red coat. It would also include a rowboat for the pirates. $30

Small red coat ship: a small ship for the red coats. The hull will be made with 1 front and 2 mid sections. There would be a small captains cabin with table and 2 stools. The deck will have 4 cannons, 2 on each side. The sails will be similarly styled to The Lord of the rings pirate ambush set, but in white with tan-ish stripes, like the imperial flagship. It would include an imperial captain, officer, 2 soliders, pirate captain, and captain's daughter. $50

Imperial fort: it would be similar to the last one. The jail would still have a break out function, and there is still a cannon. The bridge would now be about 6 studs longer, to make it feel more like an actual bridge. Instead of the corner just being covered with nothing there, this time it would be a small building. Inside would be the captain's quarters for when he has to stay at the fort overnight. There would be a cannon on top too. The tall building will now be 8 studs wider and have on the first floor a storage room for treasure. The second floor would be the captain's daughter's quarters, and the third floor the solider's quarters. There would not only be the crane on the top, but also a cannon again. It would include the captain from the small imperial ship, his daughter, his wife, 3 soliders, and a pirate. $75

Pirate ship: it would be similar to the black pearl, because it would have the same amount of hull pieces. The cabin will have a bed and table with stool. The poop deck will have the wheel and cannon that swivels, like last time. The deck will have two cannon ports on each side, and have some crates with tools in them.the sails would be new, and nicer than the brick beard bounty ones. It would include the pirate captain, 5 pirates, and 2 imperial soliders. $100

And there's also the TRU exclusive

Attack on pirate cove!: it would include a pirate hideout similar to the last one, made out of ship parts. There would be a cabin with interior details, a swaying bridge with function to break in half, not tip, break in half, and a small octangular deck with ladder to the lookout tower. The main difference here is that it would have 3 navy blue rowboats for the imperials! This would not only be different from all other sets for the boats, but because of the minifig count! It would include a pirate captain, 4 pirates, a imperial captain, and 4 imperial soliders! $50

And there would also be the big exclusive imperial ship like last time, and it would look a lot like it, with some minor differences.

So, what do you want to see? Write the list below!

Ps: I will post more details regarding the actual build of the sets soon- I'm obsessed with that!

Hey, some nice ideas...

You should try to build some! It would be really cool to see some of them. (If you don't have the pieces, Lego Digital Designer is good, free to download, official lego download)

A few of the sets you proposed are very close to actual lego sets form the "good old days" 1989-2002ish

You should have a look, you must think like the old lego designers!

Welcome aboard!

Thanks! I tried to design a ship in LDD once, but it didn't turn out so good. I think the ships really need to be made just by trial and error. But I will try building the fort and 2 hideouts! And, by the way, I got the idea for the imperial hideout by watching your review of the old blue coat one! ;)

Thanks! Im glad you liked my review. I don't know what people like better, video or photo reviews, but I have so many coming!

Also you are totally right about LDD. It is hard to visualize unless you have the pieces in hand.

Cant wait to see some more of your ideas, they are very good! Buildings would be so nice for the pirates theme!

+Add a profile pic to look cooler! ;)

Imperial Fort: I would like to see a little village with an imperial habour with bluecoats and a few civilians.

Pirateship: Classic style more like the early ships

littleset: A little tower set like the outpost 6265 from 1989

Battlepack: 3 Battlepacks. First the starterpack with 5 figures, the pirate captain, 2 pirates, 1 Admiral and 1 Bluecoat soldier.

Second the piratepack 5 figures without a captian

third the soldierspack 5 figures, 1 officer and 4 normal Bluecoats

I tried adding a profile pic, but I couldn't use my iPad pics for it. I'll have to upload them to my computer to use them.

Ok, I'm gonna start designing the imperial hideout in LDD now! Quick question though, because I want to be able to upload it here, how do I upload a file from LDD to here?

Here's some set descriptions for ya until the hideout is up!

Pirate raft: 1 instruction book, three unnumbered bags

Imperial hideout: 1 instruction book, 2 numbered bags

Pirate island: 2 instruction books, 3 numbered bags

Ship: 2 instructions, 4 numbered bags

Fort: 3 instructions, 6 numbered bags

Ship: 2 instructions, 6 numbered bags

Pirate attack: 2 instructions, 5 numbered bags

I like all your ideas, but honestly most of all I just want to see 2 classical ships (Barracuda-style) - one for pirates and 1 for enemies. I'd prefer Imperial Armada style for the soldiers.

What else... maybe something like ruins in a jungle with some aztec warriors (like the one in series 7 minifigures)?

Well…. the ships are a great idea, honestly at this point, I would take any pirate set I can get from the Lego group! ;)

The Jungle ruins with the natives (aztec warriors) is epic…. but it is a real set already, If you did not know. It is called enchanted island, my review for that set will be posted very shortly.

I would like a pirates theme with pirates, red coats and sea monsters, since there hasn't been an underwater theme for such a long time.

The Castle theme tends to recreate the same set ideas every time they 'reboot' the theme, I wonder if the same thing is likely to happen with the Pirates theme... there were definitely a lot of parallels between the 1989 pirates and the 2009 pirates. If that's the case we'll get a large pirate ship, a soldier fort, a pirate hideout, a small island, a raft etc.

What I'd like to see though is more civilian sets, but unfortunately civilians don't turn up very often in the 'Good versus Evil' world that Lego have in their action themes. (I know pirates are technically the 'evil' faction, but I still think of them as the heroes somehow...)

Maybe one way around this would be to have a 'Smugglers' theme, or something. The Smugglers would have more civilian-style ships and buildings, but with secret panels to hide smuggled cargo behind, and enough weapons to fight back against the Coats when they try to take the cargo.

This is how the Smuggler's Ship could look, for example... it could one hull section shorter than than the Brickbeard's Bounty, but the shortness made up for by being slightly higher, with a fake deck maybe two bricks above the the hull pieces under which can be stored weapons and smuggled goods. The Brickbeard-sized ship in this theme would be the navy ship, and the D2C set could be the Harbour Town, with maybe an inn and a shipping supply store or something.

(I need to stop thinking about possible future Pirate sets, it just makes me feel sad that they're not currently producing anything...)

I'd ike some pirate accesoires,

cannons, cannon wheels, barrels, anchors, etc.

New ship sets would be welcome on condition they feauture some new things, maybe a new type of mast piece or hull.

I'd love to see a new Bluecoat fraction, but most of all wider hull elements. After all, 'City' themed vehicels got blessed with an increase of width from four to six studs already years ago... More studs for ships!pirate_laugh2.gif

If I were to choose, I would say something like...

- A town/harbour/trade station like 6277 Imperial Trading Post with some civilian buildings, inn, shop, office

- A merchant ship, doesn't necessarily have to be a big ship, maybe some kind of inter-island ship

- Some smaller sets like watch tower, bastion, prison - sets you can put together to make a fortress

- A similar series for the pirates, an inn, prision, cannon cove to make the pirates' nest.

I'd like a salty pirate tavern... A shipwreck set would also be great.

I always wanted some shipwreck turned into a secret pirate base-like 6270, Forbidden Cove, but with an actual ship hull, partially buried/submerged at an angle. I tried MOCing one when i was younger, but couldn't get it to work. I might try again in the future.

I tavern/inn set would rock--something along the lines of MMV crossed with the Imperial Trading Post, only with pirates instead of soldiers.

As said above, a neutral/merchant ship would be nice. I'd like more swashbuckling ladies too, how about a female captain? Other than that, I'd be so desperate for anything pirate related I'd be happy with anything really!

Yes... actually, a female pirate captain would be perfect. Ever since the negative public reaction to the Friends theme, I feel like Lego have been trying extra hard to establish gender equality, far more than other toy manufacturers I think. We even have a female criminal in this year's City sets, something I never thought would happen. So why not a female pirate captain?

Im with you on the shipwreck idea. I built a moc a while back that is exactly how you described yours. It has since been demolished for other builds. There is a waterpark in Florida that I went to as a child and used for inspiration.

I would want a set idea witht he blue coats. A small fort like cannon cove (Classic lego pirate set) on ebay its expensive as hell.

Anyone here thought of trading posts? Or a set taking place in the 13 colonies where settlers vs pirates?
