I think everyone needs to keep in mind that Dave Filoni and The Clone Wars team didn't have a choice what episodes were included in the Lost Missions. They were just the episodes that were far enough in production to be released. If we're going to blame anyone blame Disney for cancelling the show in the first place.

That being said, I really enjoyed the episodes we did get. I actually thought the Jar Jar episodes were the best use of Jar Jar yet, and Loved the first arc.

So that's his name? Dave Filoni... I've got an irrational hate of that guy. What's up with the random cowboy hat? As someone related to real cowboys I'm illogically bothered by it. I also like nothing he has directed.

I'm mean today. I think I'll blame him for everything. Every time I see him talk he says something stupid.

These episodes are not meant to be a 'wrap-up,' answering all questions. They were just what was in the pipeline, and it's nice that we got any more episodes at all (or maybe it's not if people want to un-see these).

It's nice that in some of these episodes the show is actually grappling with some big themes, though. It's quite apparent in EpIII that the Jedi are aware everything is going wrong, but they're pretty confused and don't know what to do about it. They know there is some Sith at large who is not Dooku, but they are having trouble figuring out how to unearth this person. The Syfo-Dias episode didn't give them any information that would help them uncover Sidious. At this point they can't just stop the Clone Wars because they've found out that Dooku ordered the Clones. The Separatists actually have their own ruling body anyway that thinks it's continuing the war effort. Even with the info that Dooku ordered the Clones, there's not a lot the Jedi can do.

Posted

1) "Chip" and "Syfo Dias" episodes are not enough to bring a dozen of the wisest beings in the galaxy put a finger on their forehead and say "hey, if the Sith gave us an army and then this army has had a chip with secret code since the earliest inception phase AND one of the clones with this chip malfunctioned and shot a Jedi, maybe, just maybe, euh, how to say, we're being played? Nahh, these aren't the (freaking MONUMENTAL) clues you are looking for, move along..."

They don't know about Order 66, only that the clones have a behavioural chip, and Tups malfunctioned (we still don't know why), but I ROTS the are aware the clones are dodgy, however what would they do? Justas nicely if someone will stop the clone wars for them whilst they investigate further.

2) Put a Jar Jar in one of the 13 episodes that are supposed to give us THE answers we are looking for a ton of loose ends (and it's not a jubilee episode that would become a mother of all merchandising with a classic "MISSA DEAD"...) is... no comment.

That's not what this series is for, they are simply releasing the episodes they had finished or near finished before the axe.

3) Yoda. Yes, beautiful animation, great acting, Korriban at long last (yes it's Korriban, Disney $%@*), all great. But WTF?!?!?!? First, Yoda fought and defeated a dark lord of the Sith on Dagobah who instead of dying transferred his essence into a nearby tree and that was hundreds of years before Clone wars, thanks Mickey friggin Mouse for destroying another piece of canon I actually cared about (I can forgive you trying to squeeze a few more coins out of Maul cash-cow, but not THIS!) Oh, INCIDENTALLY, it is because of this tree and its resident evil that Yoda chose Dagobah as his refuge after getting his a$$ served to him on a silver platter by the Emperor, because he knew that the dark side of the Force emanating from that tree would shield his light from Emperor's gaze. So, you might want to reconsider your recruitment decision for the "Keeper of the Holocron" position coz this one is obviously not doing a stellar job so far.

Then, as someone mentioned, yes, let's just keep the rest of the Jedi Order in the dark about everything you discovered, it's a very wise decision. Especially don't try to check on the industrial complex on Coruscant. Too dark. Wtf...

First, everyone, get over the name change, how may places keep the same name for thousands of years? I phonetic evolution over millennia is to be expected.

This series is still under the control of Lucas not Disney, but I would rather take a great story over adherence to 'obscure comic no. 73' from the murky land of the EU. Degobah been chosen for Yoda's exile as a place to learn the final victory over the Sith, strikes me as better than a magic tree.

Yoda is dogmatic, as are most of the PT Jedi, the forces of light said 'don't tell anyone' so he didn't, it's perfectly in character, and makes his reaction to Order 66 much sadder and more powerful.

AS for the industrial complex I have no idea about that.

4) Political episodes were good, masterfully orchestrated, although the acting of the Clovis guy was pathetic.

The main problem was Anakin not just force pulling them both up.

5) Rex? Ahsoka? Ventress? Shaak-Ti (it would be kinda cool to know just how many lives she has...)?

I hope that Rex, Ventress, and Maul's (I know about the comic, but I don't care) fates are continued in Rebels, Shaak-Ti is next seen in series 3 of Clone Wars (no 'the'), as for her final fate, TCW made it look as though it will be being killed by Vader in the Temple.

Also again. Fives noooooo :vader:. Fallen like dominos.

That was worse than all Jar-Jar episodes ever.

They are the Jedi Council Mr Man, not a bunch of schoolgirls. They don't have to know the operation code name to figure things out based on given clues.

No I won't get over a name change. When I hear Korriban, I hear it through the voice of Darth Revan. When I hear Moreband or whatever, I hear it through the voice of Minnie Mouse. Can't help it.

I would generally agree with you if it was some obscure piece of EU no one ever heard or cared about. But come on, this?! This equates saying that Thrawn was Fives wet nurse and Ysolde, Kyp Durren or Jaicen Solo never existed. There are some things to be respected. Darth Bane. Brootherhood of Darkness, Sith War, Exar Kun, Naomi Sunrider. You don't just trash all of the EU in one bin as equally obscure.

Yes, therefore my unicorn irony.

I hope that Fives death wouldn't be in vain and that the knowledge of his fate would make Rex dig further and be saved & leave the 501st (he wasn't at the Temple!) Shaak-Ti should die as depicted in Dagobah episode, i.e. killed by Vader during the raid on the Temple. The Episode III book which is one of the best materials written in SW universe in my opinion depicts this as well.

I mean they have no idea about the programmed orders, they were told that the chip was a behaviour inhibitor to make them less aggressive, Tup's malfunctioned and made him aggressive, Fives was removed and he appeared to also become aggressive and unreasonable. The council should be concerned that the clones may be exposed to a virus that makes the chip break down or something, but they have no idea it can be programmed.

It's a big leap to go from Clones are neutered to the clones have programmed orders to kill Jedi.

Well pretend that Yoda can't pronounce it then .

All that you mentioned will likely be over written by Episode VII. So just do as I do. Films and TV is one universe, and Comics, Books, games etc. are different parallel universes. Nothing gets overwritten, or rewritten, just happens else where.

Maybe Rex removes his chip and Kick's (or who ever is left as a named character in the 501st) and they join the rebels.

I thought that this series was brilliant. I even enjoyed the Jar Jar episodes, while the Yoda ones were spectacular (Korriban/Moraband being shown was wonderful).

A thank you post to Star Wars: The Clone Wars fans from Dave Filoni, teasing what we would've seen in future episodes had the show not been cancelled:

http://starwarsblog.starwars.com/2014/03/10/to-fans-of-star-wars-the-clone-wars-thank-you/

The Clone Wars “Lost Missions” made its debut on Netflix on Friday, and in honor of that fact I thought it was time for a new blog post, specifically for everyone who supported the show.

Growing up a Star Wars fan I dreamed of what the Clone Wars were like, but I never dared dream I would be lucky enough to be a part of the telling of these stories, with some of the most creative and talented people I have ever known.

As a small token of thanks for all your support, I thought you might enjoy seeing some of my sketches from one of our last Clone Wars writer’s conferences. I love theories, and I am sure you will have many after seeing these images.

While we weren’t able to tell every story in the Clone Wars era, there is plenty to look forward to. Every day there are amazing new Star Warsstories being developed here at Lucasfilm. I guess my intention here is to encourage you all to dream, to imagine, not just what these stories might have been, but what the possibilities are for other new stories which have never been told before. And maybe the person who tells those stories will be you. I hope you have enjoyed what was, and what yet might be, a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away…

The Force will be with you…always.

Dave Filoni

P.S. I have to give you one spoiler because I know it meant a lot to some of you. Yes, Echo is alive.

I told myself I wasn't going to add any more of my 2 cents, but here we go anyway :classic:

4) Political episodes were good, masterfully orchestrated, although the acting of the Clovis guy was pathetic. And yeah, just throw another wtf moment for good measure. But next time please, add some humor to it, for example, when you are about to have Anakin hold Clovis and Padme over an abyss, stretching his muscles and electrical circuits, have a Jar-Jar fly by on a rainbow unicorn and shout: Ani, should missa call on some bombad Jedi to help youssa? It would kind break the paralyzing wtf-numbness of the viewers and make us laugh. And then still make unicorn explode for the aforementioned merchandising sake...

5) Rex? Ahsoka? Ventress? Shaak-Ti (it would be kinda cool to know just how many lives she has...)?

Can I say yes, yes, YES, to the unicorn. That would have saved that scene. And may I add Maul to your point 5 list? Is he going to show up again in Rebels with additional mechanical li

No, I will not get over it. It stays Korriban all throughout the EU after episode 6. It's was a stupid powerplay by people who want to show they can change things to whatever they want without taking into account the fans.

It's funny that they showed Korriban exactly as it appears in KOTOR, but they still had to change the name.

We see Padme not being pregnant don't we? Seems like there's several months.

Wasn't there a scene in RotS where Padme tells Anakin she is pregnant? So there may be a bit more time in the actual movie than we are accounting for. Either that or Anakin is an even bigger idiot than we have long thought? "Hey Pad's you puttin' on some weight?"

I didn't put Maul because his fate will apparently be revealed in some comic book.

And thanks Faefrost for the daily dose of laughter

If changing the name of an EU planet gets people riled up, just wait until Episode 7. Sorry people, the EU is dead to the creators of future Star Wars content.

Mmm, I believe they wouldn't make a position for "Keeper of the Holocrone" if what you were saying was so black and white. They have all the interest to heed the fan base or their Episode 7 or, ok, Episode 8 more likely, can find itself dead on arrival

So no matter how successful it may be the film will be killed if it doesn't tie it's self up adhering to the mess that is the EU?

A lot of stuff during or before the OT will likely be unaffected by the films, so a lot of that will stay. The stuff after the OT will likely be "Canon until it contradicts the new films".

Some elements may be in the films (I expect some EU characters to exist), but they won't let the EU affect the story they want to tell.

Yes, Anakin didn't save them both. But I like to think that he let Clovis fall willingly and that he hides that from Padme. Remember that she effectively broke up with him.

Fives death has a pretty tragic touch: he understood more about the conspiracy than anyone else did, and the ironic thing is that even Rex and Anakin didn't believe him and ultimately didn't trust him. Watching the arc, I knew that FIves could not succeed, yet I was hoping he would. To me, that's pretty good story telling.

Wouldn't Padme know that though?

I agree, the whole Fives arc was great story telling.

No, not at all. But by delibaretely violating some very popular stories and ignoring the fan base, they would. You can make a hugely successful movie as Cube1701 said without altering (or ever slightly) the existing canon. And again, I am refering to the big lines of EU, not some obscure details.

Posted (edited)

Disney does not care for the EU at all. Fans are going to become progressively more and more upset as Rebels and the ST are released.

Disney put Leland Chee (the guy who's been maintaining the Holocron continuity database) in charge of canon. Which makes me think that they do care.

They care about creating a new canon, not maintaining the old (mostly nonexistent) one. They're not going to erase everything that was ever created in the EU, since even Lucas incorporated some EU creations into the films, but they are still going to do what they want. You can already see this happening in the Clone Wars series with fairly big revisions to things like Mandalore.

The new films are going directly into a timeline that is covered in EU stuff, and there's just no way that they are going to tell stories that line up with the 'established' EU. It's just not going to happen. Just because they have Leland Chee, who knows everything ever about all Star Wars, does not indicate that they are seeking to stay within the framework of previous works. It's a whole new ballgame, for better or worse.

Personally I don't care what they do as long as they make good films and release a statement saying that the Yuuzhan Vong are hereby eradicated for all time.

AMEN to that, despite my love for the EU :sweet:

We all know the new films are going to ruin the EU as we know it. Some of us are obviously bigger fans than others of the EU. I am one of those that loves the EU and am very sad to see it get over-written. For all of you who are saying "get over it" please know that knowledgeably we know that it's an "alternate timeline," but please understand that it's still going to make us mad. They didn't ask us, and we know they don't really care, but it still makes us mad to see what we've grown up with just tossed out the window because a mouse got involved. Granted, Lucas didn't care either, but at least he didn't interfere with the future EU, just messed up the past with the PT.

Posted

"Moraband" is just the name it was known by during The Clone Wars... Korriban was once also known as "Pesegrim" (or something similar to that), so let's just get over it already.
