JM1971 Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 Are you talking about the RCB render in the render category? Well, maybe that's not very clear, but the render category is about the rendering and you can pick any model (as long as it fits in the topic) to render it. Of course you need permission from the author (if it's not your won model) and it may not be a model submitted in the contest by someone else. Something like 18 people made the picture, so it ok that one person entered it? Maybe a prison can be a dream home, just add nail up a 'home sweet home' sign and its all good. Quote
Sir Brickalot Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 (edited) Finished my dream house! So excited. Pictures will be up soon! HINT: It shall be... Fantabulous! Edited April 8, 2014 by Sir Brickalot Quote
weavil Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 This my sound silly, but what scale does the Free Build have to be? Like Minifig scale or can it bigger? Quote
legolijntje Posted April 10, 2014 Author Posted April 10, 2014 This my sound silly, but what scale does the Free Build have to be? Like Minifig scale or can it bigger? Well, that's up to you, it's a free build. Only exception is of course the scales smaller than minifg, they belong into the the micro category and should follow that rules. Quote
JM1971 Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 (edited) I added lens flare with povray during the render, rules say you cant add post processing effects but my lighting effects are part of a single render, is that ok? Also can I add and scale down my 42000 PF-RC moc onto the driveway? Ferrari's are ok but a F1 car is what you want for a dream home. Edited April 10, 2014 by JM1971 Quote

Post-processing is after the render, so photoshop and that stuff. You may add the F1 car, as long as you render it all and don't cut and paste something in there Quote

Leewan Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 One of the pictures I used for my free build entry is edited, but the other ones are untouched. Is my entry still valid ? Quote
JM1971 Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 One of the pictures I used for my free build entry is edited, but the other ones are untouched. Is my entry still valid ? There is a way to add textures to bricks with povray so its all done in one render which might be ok with the rules, if need be I'll make a tutorial, your Tardis Rocks! Quote
Leewan Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 Thanks ! I think I understand how it would work (I could use a 2x2 decorated tile, replace the decoration in LDD2POVRay, and turn the 2x2 itself into a sticker by using this method, but I use LDD 4.3.8, so I don't think it would work for me). So... I will try to add the decorations directly into POVRay. Though I wouldn't mind if you'd make a tutorial. Quote

Palathadric Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 I don't know if others have this problem, but some of the files don't show anything when I open them in LDD. Quote
legolijntje Posted April 12, 2014 Author Posted April 12, 2014 It would be useful if you would give an example of such an empty file Quote
Palathadric Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 For instance, the Charleston Single House and the White Unhaunted Mansion. I downloaded the files, but when I open them in LDD I don't see anything. Quote

I downloaded the files, but when I open them in LDD I don't see anything. This is due to the "fake" direct link provided by dropbox. You used a download manager or "right click -> save link" instead than simply click on it: this would open the download page. PS: links would be more comfortable, for a next time! Cara Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 Two questions. 1. I'm sitting a plant in a basket. Because the basket doesn't have a stud at the bottom I'm faking it. So technically my plant is a floating brick. Is this still allowed? It would be able to sit there if I built it with real bricks. 2. My free build model is stressing my >10 yr old computer so I am going to split it up into two files. One that shows the exterior fully built (but does not have an interior) and another that shows the floors separated with the interior. I would include all files in my entry. Is it ok to do that? Okay, I'll try again. Thanks Calabar. Another thing I noticed is that a few one or two of the new posts are linked to folders that are not visible in Brickshelf, I suppose they will be made visible after sometime, but a direct link to the file would be nice. As long as it is buildable in real life (and won't collapse when breathing to close ) it is allowed. 2. Well, then you need to buy a new computer. No other solution possible Nah, you may submit it in 2 files. Maybe someone could merge the 2 files? I don't have that knowledge of LDD (i'm more of the LDraw side), but maybe someone like bbqqq can merge the 2 files Quote
bak318 Posted April 13, 2014 Posted April 13, 2014 I'm willing to help you out with the two files. I can make one lxf for you. I can work up to about 25000 bricks without much problems altough i'm working on a 7 years old laptop with vista. I think that if you want it before closing time there's not much time left. How do i get the files and get them back to you? Quote
legolijntje Posted April 13, 2014 Author Posted April 13, 2014 Well, it would be nice if you could submit (and make pictures of it) as 1 file, but don't feel too pressured by the deadline, I will also accept it as 2 files Quote
bak318 Posted April 13, 2014 Posted April 13, 2014 That's great news for Cara, i know how fustrating it is when it doesn't work how you want. I have today time to do it and tomorrow evening, in daytime i have to finish furniture for a client i'm building so not much time to spend on the computer. Can Cara email it to me or so? On the legosite it's hard to pass files, you must make posts in the gallery of it. Quote
Cara Posted April 13, 2014 Posted April 13, 2014 I have to work on it tomorrow (unfortunately we've been busy this weekend). My second file should have the entire build in it, only split up into storeys so I could add the decoration. I can't get my computer to handle the cut and paste of putting it back together again even in small sections. But I have pictures of it before I split as it is modular so photos for the contest are ok. Thank you bak for the offer, much appreciated, I still have to figure out where to post the file though. Since legolijntje will accept two files I'll go with that for now. Its somewhere over 12,000 bricks. Quote
bak318 Posted April 13, 2014 Posted April 13, 2014 Oke, good luck with it. I hope it will work for you. Just a tip, did you ever update the graphic card drivers? I did that about 2 years ago and since than i have no problems, before LDD had some issues. I'm working right now on my operahouse 2.0. This time i add the interior and i'm at 13.000 bricks, think it end at about 20.000 bricks. If you want to use my offer let me now. Quote
CM4Sci Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Is it too late to edit our entries? I wanted to add a small tree and car to my house. Do I have to update every photo/remake the LXF? -Sci Quote
legolijntje Posted April 14, 2014 Author Posted April 14, 2014 You may edit your entry until the deadline So, of course you can add something in the lxf, but the voters will (porbably/mostly) vote based on the image, so it's up to you if you want to update the images. Quote
