Posted February 18, 201411 yr Yes, only about 4% of this creation is action figure stuff, but it's still a Bionicle thing. Avde is an odd character. Not much is known about it, but it seems to consist of two creatures, the small Matoran-esque The Crimson Man and the big black monster The Deep Laughter. Avde is after the powerful mind artefact called Nimda, but it is unkown why - He always says he works for an unnamed Employer. I wanted to achieve a look of a mental nightmare monster on this MOC. I used old and yellowed white bricks to create a depressing empty room as a backdrop to the monster. It also created a nice contrast with the back and red and allowed me to pose the black blobs in otherwise impossible ways. Photos on Flickr, more detailed story on Cyclopic Bricks. The character is based on Klaanon, Finnish collaborative Bionicle giga-novel thing.
February 18, 201411 yr Wonderful psychodelic thing and the story. Though I haven't really understood whether this thing appears as one creature with a kind of a matoran-shaped-and-talking organ (the idea I like), or the matoran is a kind of hallutination made by the black monster? Anyway, Matoran's construction is clever, and black creature is simply fantastic. I can't speak Finnish at all to find out more about the real story, but it seems to me that Klaanon is a kind of new spin on an old Bionicle universe (which unfortunately 'ended' for me, but now I see somebody still add new dimensions to this world, though they're quite odd))
February 18, 201411 yr Very cool. Reminds me a lot of Pride from Full Metal Alchemist. I sort of wish the Matoran was a different color though, so as to contrast more against the red of the monster.
February 18, 201411 yr it looks amazing, i like the dept of the mout, and the way you designed the tohunga matoran body
February 20, 201411 yr Owww it's so surreal, I really like the background monster head. And not least the photography is excellent, it brings out the colors really well, superb MOC!
February 22, 201411 yr Wow Pate. I had glanced at this on Flickr but didn't really give it a good look till now. I didn't notice how the monster had that concaved throat. Wonderful job with the shaping there and throughout the Monster/blobs. However I can't get past the fact that the Matoran looks exactly like Takua. Was that intentional? If you said that was a Takua revamp I would have said wonderful job, you nailed him. :P I also see what you're saying about the yellowed brick. It does give it a kind of dingy unhappy place feel, but I don't think it quite sells it. It needs to be a bit dingier for that look to really come across. Maybe it does more so in person. Either way its still a wonderful MOC with a lot of great brick shaping and NPU.
