Pat-Ard Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Hi folks, after the short teaser last week, I'll today present the Nokka logging trailer with a pneumatic crane. The realized features are: separate M-Motor for the mechanical features, which are turning the crane and sliding out the rear end the pneumatic support comes directly form the Unimog. The pneumatic features are lifting the crane, opening the grippier and the stabilizers... The trailer is about 72 studs long, 80 studs if the rear end is out. I know there's still some things to do... Mainly stabilizing the whole construction... For one issue I really need the help of you guys! I tried to implement a turnable gripper. The mechanics work, but it's too much gearing an so it won't work. My thoughts now go in pneumatic turning. I only need 90°... Do you have an idea how to realize this? Thanks... And have fun watching the pictures. A video will come tomorrow... So far Pat Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 I like it,don't forget to make the last section of the arm extendable like the real one. Quote
Rishab N Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Looks good! I might have to start modifying my Unimog again after seeing this Quote
unimog123 Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Nice job! Any pictures with the trailer extended? Quote
Pat-Ard Posted February 20, 2014 Author Posted February 20, 2014 Thanks... @alasdair: hmmm, I thought about it. But without a micromotor, there won't be a chance to realize it. There's too much friction in the whole system to get a mechanical link there. As I already mentioned it regarding the turnable gripper. @unimog123: I' post some more pictures tonight... Pat Quote
Pat-Ard Posted February 20, 2014 Author Posted February 20, 2014 Hmm, that could be possible, but a bit short... Don't you think? Quote
Pat-Ard Posted February 20, 2014 Author Posted February 20, 2014 (edited) Hi folks, here's a small video... https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/21147896/Nokka_logging_trailer.mov Pat Edited February 21, 2014 by Pat-Ard Quote
unimog123 Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 I like how the trailer extends, but I was unable to watch the entire video because it kept freezing. And my computer hasn't had any problems with watching videos before. Anyway nice job with the trailer! Quote
Pat-Ard Posted February 21, 2014 Author Posted February 21, 2014 Thanks... hmmm, strange, maybe, because it's "only" dropbox and not youtube... Has anyone a clever idea how to turn the gripper with pneumatics? Quote
Pat-Ard Posted February 21, 2014 Author Posted February 21, 2014 Fixed the link to the video... Quote
Zmei_gorini4 Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 watched the video. Trailer are very cool. Quote
unimog123 Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Fixed the link to the video... Thanks, it works now. I really like the small pneumatic cylinders for the outriggers. Nice job. Quote
Pat-Ard Posted February 21, 2014 Author Posted February 21, 2014 (edited) Thanks again... Has anyone an idea for the turnable gripper and a pneumatic extendable arm? Pat Edited February 21, 2014 by Pat-Ard Quote
stefan_betula_pendula Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 Nice video! I like the idea with the PF output on the rear of the Unimog and the function to extend the rear of the trailer. What do you use the second gear of the gearbox for, turning the crane? Quote
Pat-Ard Posted February 22, 2014 Author Posted February 22, 2014 Thanks stefan... Yes, the second gear is for the turning of the crane. Quote
Pat-Ard Posted October 19, 2015 Author Posted October 19, 2015 Hi folks, one and a half year ago I built this trailer, but since it wasn't really sturdy I decided to rebuild the whole structure... I changed the gearing and added some new features. First of it's some kind of self propelled and has a pneumatic operated towing bar... All in all it's much more fun to play with... Here some photos of the new version: Have fun... Quote
