looks great, as long as it's available for two years or more, because yet another 140euro in the next couple months for this set is not simply allowed by my wallet.

hmmm... i get an uneasy feeling about this...

it seems to me, the designer tried to pack as many so-called "advanced" techniques into the design as possible... the result is a real hodge-podge mess. i think a lot of the "details" are forced, and therefore, result in a very unprofessional look. honestly, this looks like it was built by a fan, as in it is unprofessional. honestly, im surprised LEGO authorized this as an acceptable final design.

now, i know that is pretty harsh... especial since this was built by a fan just like you or me... but i feel since this is an official LEGO product now, it can fall into the same judging criteria as say "mars mission" or any other officially released product of the company.

in defense for the designer... im sure there was a lot of pressure, following up to the CC and all... what a tough job that would have been :'-( im sure they felt a lot of pressure to include "advanced" techniques... and what we see is the result.

personally, i don't care how many or how few of these AFOL techniques are used in a set... i would rather have a well designed set, not an advanced one... some of the best LEGO sets ever were designed without these "advanced" building styles... IMPERIAL TRADING POST #6277, CAMOUFLAGED OUTPOST #6066, etc...

--------------------------------------------------

BTW, what is that dino tail and whip thing supposed to be on the shorter structure ??? and a croissant as decoration... seems like a stretch. also, because of the technique used on the railing, it looks like it is made from rope... like a jungle-gym. i also don't like the tiling method used above the windows... looks very amateur.

all the while, lovin the CC - BrickMiner

well i guess he tried to get lots of highly popular, but rare parts in the set, making it more worth wile for AFOLs . in that regard, he succeeded. I'd like to see some high resolution pics first, but it looks fine, even though not the most beautiful house design i've ever seen.

However, what worries me is the SNOT technique for the pavement. One of the great things of Lego sets/houses, is that you can always "fix" pedestrians on the baseplates. Not in this case, unless you loose the tiles, and if you do that, i'm pretty sure, this model with be looking a lot less attractive, and if you don't, figs will fall almost constantly, which is very very very annoying, especially for kids.

But as I'm a real City fan (and also Wild West fan and Classic Castle fan and Star Wars fan) I would like it better (don't be angry with me, this is only my opinion!) if these two sets would have been designed as normal city sets. That would have the advantage that there is "inside life" (tables, chairs, cargo staff, glases, ...), that the back is open to play inside and that they would be much more cheaper.

I hope TLC will release sets like these as city sets in the near future. (City fans want some food and clothing shops and an office building, ...)

First, never apologise for having an opinion. ;-)

second, i think it would sell very well as a city set, but i'm afraid Lego feels these houses are not "city" as such. They're too complicated for kids, and don't have enough playability. maybe there's also a problem with production; after all, even though it's a Lego direct set and they're still having problems with producing enough sets!

Yes I understand and I agree with you. But it's not a matter for me, on the contrary: I will "distribute" all those technical parts in different houses and make this one more classic. So with one set, I will have 2-3 good houses in my own scale :-) !

And what is it between the two black wip? We really need better pics...

looks like an owl.

I think it's a frog...

I do agree with what was said before about the advanced techniques, there are so many details in this set that the building itself drowns in it.

Only advanced detail that I really like is the rounded stairway leading to the main building.

As much as I can't wait for this set, there is one little detail that troubles me. That is the rounded balconies on the front that seem to be made out of some hinge arm thingies, and those flexi pieces. Wouldn't that have been better off using a couple of these pieces?

I think the little detail in the arch on the left is the Owl personally...

Owl, infinity!

It also looks like it could be a black scabbers, but that would be super odd. But, with all due respect Simon, it seems to big to be a frog.

Owl on!

Look! look! I know what it is..... It's Darth Vader! :-D

No seriously, it's a frog sitting on something that makes it look like an owl...

I agree! I don't like so much how the fence of the balcony is made. But with the pieces that you think Mr. Hobbles, you have a bigger radius...

And finally, I'm an owl partisan :-)

I would like to send a thank you to Legomilk for the release date, piece quantity and price information on this set. These details are very important. Thank you again.
