Having never really took on a big project before (I usually just content myself with Winter Village building) I decided I had to have a go after visiting an exhibition.

I choose the Titanic after thinking how much the technic bricks were suited to use as portholes, and I always (waaaay before Leo & Kate) liked the story. Anyway 2 years of design, on and off, and this is the result.

I know there are easily more accurate representations that have been created, but I went for a more detailed approach at the expense of scale on occasion. Like the crows nest is way big but it's so important, also cranes that move etc.

In the end I am super happy with it and at 2870 pieces it didn't entirely break the bank either. It was infact a joy to build, however displaying a piece that's a meter long presents way more problems!

I played around with photoshop for a vintage look to some of the photo's - I hope you enjoy them.

Very Nice! What will you do with it Now?

Thats an interesting question, and one I never really thought of during the whole time I was planning/building it

I will no doubt take it down again this month, then rebuild for the Brickvention in Melbourne next year. I have full instructions so it's no big deal I guess but my cupboard is brimming with lego in snaplock bags!

Gorgeous interpretation. Clearly you have a lot to be proud of. I think it looks excellent and you should keep it assembled and create a nautical/Titanic theme room in your home.

If you have instructions I'd also be very interested in seeing them as there is a LEGO exhibition planned later this year for the Titanic museum in Belfast (which is located on the site where the Titanic was built). Something like this would no doubt be of interest.

That is fantastic!! The technic portholes are a great idea and the whole ship just looks great. I especially like all the little deck details - excellent work which definitely deserves to be on display somewhere!!
