Forresto Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 While i'm one of the few who doesn't hate TLG's model of the Snowspeeder, yes it is outdated , but I would love to see them adapt one to look more like yours. What a great little ship you've managed to get just right. Quote
LiLmeFromDaFuture Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 LiLmeFromDaFuture's version with brick built wings. With bricks you can effectively implement this grille detail located in the aft repulsor unit housing—it greatly breaks up the monotony of stacked slopes and it's a nice addition to the overall level of detail. Also with bricks it is possible to implement a half plate offset so that the cheese slopes delineating the housing are stacked in a linear path unlike as they would be if they were on the same level. Though besides the advantages of using bricks, I need to work on the join of the wings to the body because it can droop significantly if you were to fiddle with it (or something to prevent it). Quote
one23one23four Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 LiLmeFromDaFuture I very much like the grille and I think your speeder would make a great display piece because of the excellent stand. The only thing which bothers me is the illegal connections. I might actually end up ordering all the parts for yours and also the ones I need to modify mine according to ScottishDave's version. I'm glad that the newly revealed sets were disappointing for me, because I'll be able to work on more detailed other people's creations. I would like to thank both ScottishDave and LiLmeFromDaFuture for posting the instructions files and thus enabling other people to enjoy and display such great builds. You should really consider accepting donations. Quote
ScottishDave Posted February 16, 2016 Author Posted February 16, 2016 (edited) Thanks! I don't currently have any plans to update this model: feel free to build it, secure in the knowedge that it won't be a waste of your time. I do like LiLmeFromDaFuture's snowspeeder a lot - but, of course, I prefer mine . LMFDF's model is about the same size as mine, and you can swap the wings between the two fairly easily. I did try building his wings on my model at one point, and thought the idea had potential, but never quite finished.. Good luck with your model! Edited February 16, 2016 by ScottishDave Quote

Yes, I echo what Scottish Dave suggested and planned to do, to have the best of both worlds with his detailed cockpit, functioning winch, and wings from my MOC—they are indeed around the same size! Happy building! PS. I think it is a little too late to accept donations for MOC; it has had 108 downloads, and that is probably $540 dollars that I could have gained if the file was sold for $5 . What a great little ship you've managed to get just right. I like the current snowspeeders, they're very solid and have good play value. They sorely need an update though, TLG can't keep passing off the same design as new every few years. Quote

Light stone grey and dark stone grey to be precise Does anyone here know which one is smaller? I like rebel snowspeeders to be as small as possible. I realise that the white vs grey question is a religious debate and there is no right answer, but I happen to think snowspeeders look better in light grey. Maybe they are supposed to be white, but in ESB they are very dirty and light grey makes a better contrast with the snow. If you take a look at this screen grab from the film you can see that the snowspeeder is practically the same colour as the AT-AT and much closer to Lego light grey than white. To me it's just a very dull white and also that they are very weathered Edited October 26, 2016 by Tracytron Typo Quote
dmarkng Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 (edited) Hey mate, don't want to offend you, but perhaps you should reconsider quoting people from a post over a year old. Just my 2 cents, not intending to offend you. Cheers =) Edited October 26, 2016 by dmarkng Quote
