I recently acquired set 6766 - Rapid River Village, which besides including cloth teepees also has 3 LURPs (Little Ugly Rock Piece) and 5 BURPs (Big Ugly Rock Piece). Now I don't mind these, as they do serve as a replacement for creating large rocky scenes, even if they are a bit of cheat.

So I thought, let's show a little love to these often despised pieces and after a little thought, using only 1x2 bricks I came up with these :

A BURP in Yellow

A LURP in Lime and Green

A BURP in trans-black and a transparent LURP

You may notice that neither of these are hollow, mainly I wanted to strengthen the shape. Also, as I only used 1x2s the top of the BURP is not correct.

Now that's all well and good, but what I really want is a Great Big BURP (GB-BURP).

So this time I decided to up the scale somewhat and go for 4 x 4 brick x 3 high (using 2x4 bricks) to equal a normal 1x1 brick.

A GB-LURP over 500 2 x 4 bricks

A GB-BURP over 600 2 x 4 bricks, plus a few 2 x 6s for the bit at the top.

I knew all those PAB bricks would come in handy !

Who says you shouldn't build a mountain with BURPs, all you need is a couple of big ones... :classic:

Haha! Very neat! I don't mind BURPs to much. if you can camouflage them in there, they look alright. I in particular love the enlarged one, very cool!

I was not aware people hated these parts.

I love 'em. An easy way to fill space when parts are running out.

I know I'm going to be reproached for this, but I happen to love BURPs and LURPs. If used correctly, they can add a lot to a MOC. Sometimes, I like to add little pieces onto the studs on them to achieve a detailed, more realistic effect.

On the subject of this model: very well done! You obviously had a lot of free time on your hands to build a bunch of these. Perhaps the GB-BURPs and GB-LURPs could be used for a mining diorama of some sort? Great work.

Nope, you aren't the only one. I love these parts too! Now back on topic, I love all your creations and you have inspired me to build a rock mountain for my mountain climber! Keep up the good work!:thumbup:

Outstanding BURPs! As others have mentioned, BURPs are a useful if used correctly.

Your GB BURPs are a very interesting study in parts usage.

Now, who is going to make a micro BURP?

Micro BURP def.

Maybe that is what happens when you have less than three dollars to spend at Taco Bell...for a meal of two taco frescas and a free senior drink. ( A great way to save money for more bricks! )

I actually happen to like BURP's. They are extremely handy when pieces are running out, a problem I am all too familiar with.

Very nice tribute to the BURP! I don't quite understand how people don't like this piece. I have never really used it myself, but only because I have never built anything with lots of rocks. I would definedly BURP it if I did, but also put some extra dark greyes on here and there and maybe other colors, and some plant parts to not make it look like URP's.

Burps and lurps are actually supposed to stack on top of each other. Any chance your gb-burps could too?
