Praiter Yed Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 (edited) I'm not sure whether this belongs here or History or Special Themes, I suppose it's in the hands of the Mods now. I've decided to post here as I feel that the source material is predominately sci-fi. For those who don't know, Stephen King's Dark Tower Series is set in a post apocalyptic parallel world and involves many sci-fi tropes such as travel between dimensions, genetic mutation, cybernetic organisms, robots and if that's not enough, there's also a monorail!.. None of which is featured in this vignette these vignettes. My second Gunslinger vignette is from the start of the book: The man in black fled across the desert, and the gunslinger followed on flickr My first vignette is inspired by Michael Whelan's illustration 'The Dead Town' from Stephen King's Dark Tower Part 1: The Gunslinger... Massacre of Tull on flickr I hope to do more Dark Tower MOCs eventually. C&C welcome. Edited March 4, 2015 by Praiter Yed Quote

Praiter Yed Posted March 18, 2014 Author Posted March 18, 2014 Great looking blood! Great fig posing and in guilds of historia ive seen alot of and and i can honestly say this is the best blood ive seen. Thanks guys, I assumed this topic had died quickly but I'm pleased you like the blood. Oddly I tend to think that I don't like bloody MOCs but often end up making them, . Although there's no blood in the source material I felt that Lego is so innocent that I needed to bloody it up to reflect the darkness of the illustration. I recently re-did this version for my own amusement... The Dark Tower has lots of pop-culture references throughout so I thought this would be fun. I've vaguely listed the reasons these characters died in my flickr. Quote
Zoenarr Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 I'm a HUGE fan of this series-- some of the best fantasy writing ever, but knowing this scene I can't help but think MORE blood could be added! ; ) I'd be curious to see what other mics you come up with. (Blaine the train would be excellent if you're good with trains) Quote
Praiter Yed Posted March 4, 2015 Author Posted March 4, 2015 Updated 1st post to include my second Gunslinger vignette - it's only taken a year! Also if possible can a Mod please change the title to 'The adventures of Roland the Gunslinger'? I will be adding more vignettes, hopefully before the world moves on, but unlike mccoyed's excellent, all encompassing series I will be aiming to make only four (or possibly six) vigs from the first, one from the second and maybe one from the third books - in no particular order... The man in black fled across the desert, and the gunslinger followed on flickr Quote
Bob De Quatre Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 Nice vig Also if possible can a Mod please change the title to 'The adventures of Roland the Gunslinger'? Done Quote
Praiter Yed Posted March 4, 2015 Author Posted March 4, 2015 Nice vig Done Thanks and thanks - that was super fast! Quote
___ Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 as others already said I also agree that those sand dunes looks very nice, overall coloring is very good too Quote
Praiter Yed Posted March 11, 2015 Author Posted March 11, 2015 Thanks guys, I'm glad you like the dunes, I would have loved to make them more 'epic' but I maxed out my collection of tan slopes. Below is a picture of an earlier version (and overhead view of the final one) showing some fairly poor dune-age, luckily this was destroyed in a dusting incident before I had chance to properly photograph it Quote
