Governor Mister Phes Posted April 7, 2005 Governor Posted April 7, 2005 BIGGEST story in Denmark right now is that LEGO is talking about moving the production to China :'( Yes outsource to the the Asian countries! Much cheaper. Then they can slap the "Made in China" thingy on all the Lego's. It'll be great! I can't wait. Quote
snefroe Posted April 7, 2005 Posted April 7, 2005 isn't this against Scandinavian ethical principles? Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted April 7, 2005 Governor Posted April 7, 2005 Oh the Chinese would be delighted! Quote
Wolf04 Posted April 15, 2005 Posted April 15, 2005 I know I will never think of buying a LEGO set ever again if on the box it says Made in China. The best products tend to be made in Europe...NOT China. Quote

Governor Mister Phes Posted April 15, 2005 Governor Posted April 15, 2005 Hasn't the product quality already gone down? Quote
snefroe Posted April 15, 2005 Posted April 15, 2005 Hasn't the product quality already gone down? if you're talking in terms of plastic... TLC has been awarded for having the best plastic product in the world. number 2 was, i believe, tupperware in fact, the article said that the durability of the plastic has become a negative factor in the sales. after all, these bricks won't have to be replaced... to my knoledge, the company is outsourcing to Tchechia... Governor Mister Phes Posted April 15, 2005 Governor Posted April 15, 2005 Nah, I was merely being a smart megablocks. I meant down as in design quality rather than the plastic. Quote

The Middleman Posted April 15, 2005 Posted April 15, 2005 I definitely meant the durability/uniformity of the pieces. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted April 16, 2005 Governor Posted April 16, 2005 Yes I agree the plastic is very good. Only the flag clips have caused me grief in the past. They seem rather weak and are easy to break at times. Quote

Governor Mister Phes Posted April 16, 2005 Governor Posted April 16, 2005 Although they were using canvas flags back in the late 90's, but they seem to have gone back to plastic ones these days. Quote

Which is more expensive...thus making the sets have less pieces but more expensive.....thus making the people not buy them....thus the LEGO company losing money...thus LEGO coming up with cheap excuses "There is no market for Pirate sets"...in fact it was their own fault. The Middleman Posted April 16, 2005 Posted April 16, 2005 The cloth flags were sooooo much better. One of my biggest gripes with KK2. Quote

This big bad wench eating wolf is also a genius too! Quote
The Middleman Posted April 16, 2005 Posted April 16, 2005 Ah, you just say that because he's mad at LEGO for not doing Pirate as well. ;) Quote
Wolf04 Posted April 16, 2005 Posted April 16, 2005 Just because I'm not into the themes doesn't mean I don't like the sets. I'm into Town/Trains/Technic (the BIG 3T's) but I like Pirates/Castle/Space..I just never had the money to expand to those themes. Quote
The Middleman Posted April 16, 2005 Posted April 16, 2005 Why TECHNIC? I thought you hated BIONICLE and such - if you like TECHNIC, BIONICLE is a great parts pack for it. Quote
Wolf04 Posted April 16, 2005 Posted April 16, 2005 Why TECHNIC? I thought you hated BIONICLE and such - if you like TECHNIC, BIONICLE is a great parts pack for it. I should have been more clear because I don't do MOCs with Technic, just Town but I do have Technic, Town and Train sets. I have only 3 Technic sets...4x4 Offroader, X-treme Offroader and the small yellow Front End Loader. Don't get me started on Bionicle. Bionicle has no beams or Technic functionality. I like cars and trucks, that's why I really like Technic. I can see how a gearbox works or steering or many other features in my favourite toy. Bionicle is just a bunch of <insert that tiresome argument> Technic pieces put together. ...I do NOT want to start another discussion on why someone likes/dislikes Bionicle. Quote
The Middleman Posted April 16, 2005 Posted April 16, 2005 Ah, I thought you did MOCs. And I'm not a fan of BIONICLE, so you're preaching to the choir. ;) A lot of the TECHNIC sets are cool, but I'd rather spend the money on SYSTEM themes. Quote

Not with Technic sets...with Town sets but if I had the money, I would buy all the new big Technic sets that are available. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted April 17, 2005 Governor Posted April 17, 2005 Does LEGO still use "SYSTEM" to categorise sets these days? My Skulls Eye Schooner box has SYSTEM right next to the LEGO Logo, but I haven't noticed it anywhere on the newer sets. All they seem to have is the age rating. Quote

It's gone...another hint when LEGO died. When that System logo disappeared... :( Quote
