Edwin Korstanje Posted March 12, 2014 Author Posted March 12, 2014 The first set is also the smallest one and have 1160 pieces. For both company's the sets are only for inside and are already sold out . I hope and think there comes at second batch. Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 (edited) Can I buy one if you make a second batch? Edited March 12, 2014 by Alasdair Ryan Quote

Edwin Korstanje Posted March 12, 2014 Author Posted March 12, 2014 (edited) I think you can better wait at the next tug to come out .(i mean not the second batch, but the next ship) Edited March 12, 2014 by VFracingteam Quote
Vee Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 It seems big companies found the gold pot that Lego has been using for ages. Design a set using Lego bricks, put your brand in it (but don't call it a "Lego set"), build a few, build no more, and then let its scarcity drive the prices up as people will get to know about the set and will want one copy due to its "exclusivity". Only big brand name companies can use this formula though. If a John Doe try to do this, nobody will want the "exclusive set" with John Doe brand in it. If enough companies started doing this, BL prices that are already too high and going ever higher, will skyrocket. Quote
Edwin Korstanje Posted March 12, 2014 Author Posted March 12, 2014 (edited) Best Vee, I can say that i have buy almost mine parts from only 3 sellers . 2 BL sellers and pick a brick from lego and have not bring the price up. For disign and bring out a set, you must not juse rear parts and the company's don't want to pay for it and don't understand that you said that only 50 sets is possible. I have a big discusion with one of them to explain to him, that it is a ask and demand market and not how bigger the order how cheaper it's, but more how more you want that the cost rise the price up. The other company knows me and also the lego market how it's works. Edited March 15, 2014 by VFracingteam Quote

jorgeopesi Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 Nice ship, small and playable, do you think build a float one?. Quote
Edwin Korstanje Posted March 13, 2014 Author Posted March 13, 2014 (edited) Nope, because of the ugly hulls from the floated lego ships Edited March 13, 2014 by VFracingteam Quote
Edwin Korstanje Posted March 13, 2014 Author Posted March 13, 2014 Now i am nowing how a TLG desinger must feel and must work with a buget . Quote
skppo Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 I like this more traditional style compared to your usual technic hull type. If I understood correctly this wont be the only model design? Nice boat. SCHOOL takes all my time and building one takes DAYS Quote
Edwin Korstanje Posted March 13, 2014 Author Posted March 13, 2014 If I understood correctly this wont be the only model design? yep, this is the smallest one in parts. Quote

Good luck;) Thanks RM8, but as you now to bring out a set is not always fun and have a very strickly budget. Also to make a model that can be make for the age 8-99 is a challence and can only juse parts that are good available and it must be good looking at the real ship. For me it whas more the challence to see i can do some project this big and it's more for the honour, than i make a small profit of it Edited March 14, 2014 by VFracingteam Quote
Rishab N Posted March 14, 2014 Posted March 14, 2014 Wow nice work! It contrasts well with your larger ships Quote
DrJB Posted March 14, 2014 Posted March 14, 2014 (edited) Are you sure you can discuss this project in the open ... while it is still in progress? Don't get me wrong ... I live in a country ruled by lawyers. Edited March 14, 2014 by DrJB Quote
Vee Posted March 14, 2014 Posted March 14, 2014 Are you sure you can discuss this project in the open ... while it is still in progress? Don't get me wrong ... I live in a country ruled by lawyers. You may have a point. But, I've come to realize that Lego hobby is like Cityville, the Facebook game from Zynga. I was very addicted to Cityville for almost six months, a couple of years or so ago, specially after I found about a bot that would help me play the game and a myriad of hacks that would allow me to progress in the game much faster than intended (both forbidden according to Zynga's Terms of Service but Zynga actually never cared much about it). What was the catch about Cityville? The catch was that you would go crazy to make your city bigger and more beautiful so that you could be proud of it, and being proud of it meant also knowing that your Facebook friends (which you need to play the game and they need you to play their game) were watching. It was a lot about showing off your "creation", your city. Lego hobby is similar, specially for MOC's and MOD's. What's the fun in creating them if you will not show them off? No fun! Showing our creations is the core thing about them. Imagine you alone in this world having all Lego bricks that you could possibly want, but having no one to show whatever you would come up with? No fun! This hobby is a lot about recognition. Lego knows it and that is why Lego encourages any kind of instrument (like this very own site, for instance) that would facilitate the "recognition" part of the hobby. But you may have a point. It all depends on the contract terms, if there is one, that he signed with the company. And I hate lawyers... lawyer = Quote
mike4slund Posted March 14, 2014 Posted March 14, 2014 i just want the money so i can buy that many pieces. holy crapola! Quote
freakwave Posted March 14, 2014 Posted March 14, 2014 The ship looks great, and finally a use of all of those tires! Quote
DrJB Posted March 14, 2014 Posted March 14, 2014 I am all for sharing and recognition. It is, after all, one of the driving factors that keeps us on improving the next time around. My concern is not about what TLG would think of this .... but more ... the people/company who contracted you to do this. If this is an exclusive design/set and they're paying you to build them I'm not sure they'll be too happy about you sharing details on here. Might be a good idea to read your contract ... in-between the lines too. You may have a point. But, I've come to realize that Lego hobby is like Cityville, the Facebook game from Zynga. Edwin Korstanje Posted March 14, 2014 Author Posted March 14, 2014 Of course i ask for permission, to make some details public for you here on EB. Because only there customers can get ore buy some model of it and it will never be sold at the public. Other wise nobody wil ever seen this set in public and for mine ego it's also good that i haved put so much work in it. Also the right and copyright of the model, building instructions and the supply of the bricks are with me. Only they have the right that this set as it is, are only exclusive for theme. Quote
