Doc_Brown Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 (edited) Hello everyone, Thought I would share my quick build Tatra to test my asymmetrical half axle setup. Turned out to be quite good surprisingly. The body work was very quickly built, inspired more by the shape of the Tatra T813. Specs: 20cm (H) x 20cm (W) x 38cm (L) Weight 1.910kg 2 x XL for Drive 1x Servo for Steering I also wanted to make it blue, and colourful just like the trial trucks. skppo Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 Whats up with the stacked gear racks in the steering mechanism? I like the blueness. Quote
AndroTech Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 Awesome! Clever solution with the drive train. Definitely love the colours ..... Quote
astakos Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 very good looking ! warning: the title of your topic is not legal.. it will renamed to: 8110 modified !! Quote
Jullian_pdx Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 I take it your using a V2 Rx receiver with the twin XL motors. Have you ran into issues with the battery thermaling out or have you modded the battery box with a higher rated resistor? Quote
Milan Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 Title is misleading...it is not just another Tatra. It is great tatra. Nice drivetrain! Quote
Doc_Brown Posted March 13, 2014 Author Posted March 13, 2014 Oh thanks for the great feedback guys. Whats up with the stacked gear racks in the steering mechanism? I like the blueness. Cheers! I had to use 2 together cos the axles are offset, and thats the only way to able both wheels to turn the same radius. I take it your using a V2 Rx receiver with the twin XL motors. Have you ran into issues with the battery thermaling out or have you modded the battery box with a higher rated resistor? Yes I'm using V2, and no I haven't modded the thermal settings on the battery box. Generally I don't have too much of a problem with that, but with my hot rod geared 1:3 if I drove forwards backwards 3 times it would stall. With this Tatra if a "tire" got caught in between the wheels, it would stall. Title is misleading...it is not just another Tatra. It is great tatra. Nice drivetrain! Thank you very much. Quote

HorcikDesigns Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 Very nice... Just one question: Which and whre can we find the BB? Quote
Thirdwigg Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 The blue is hot. It's always nice to see another Tatra. How well does it turn? Quote
AndyCW Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 It's BLUE! That's not something that we see very often. NICE. v/r Andy Quote
Doc_Brown Posted March 13, 2014 Author Posted March 13, 2014 Very nice... Just one question: Which and whre can we find the BB? its located between the the servo and Xls, if you look at the chassis pic, you can just see a red lever, thats the on off. Standard battery box was used. The blue is hot. It's always nice to see another Tatra. How well does it turn? Not very well!!! If you can see how to improve it, im all ears! And thanks. It's BLUE! That's not something that we see very often. NICE. v/r Andy Thank you very much! I was unsure how much of a cab I could make with the blue that I had. Quote
Rishab N Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 Nice work! I like the color and the drvetrain Quote
darsedz Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 Very nice design... now time to improve it - they needs differentials on axles... ;) Quote

EV3Noob Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 I always thought Tatra's wheels without load are like this: \---/ Am I wrong? Quote
Johnny P Posted March 14, 2014 Posted March 14, 2014 EV3noob You are correct. From wich set do the Blue rims come? Quote
Doc_Brown Posted March 15, 2014 Author Posted March 15, 2014 Thanks for the nice comments and feedback guys. Very nice design... now time to improve it - they needs differentials on axles... ;) I agree, with diff lock, but that is for my next Tatra! EV3noob You are correct. From wich set do the Blue rims come? I'm not too sure actually, I picked mine up from 4 diff sellers on BL, quite cheap. I just thought they look sweet! and very much like a Trial truck. hehe Quote
