we'll keep the originel rules, unless anybody wants to modify them...

so i guess i'll sign up myself

However, if we don't get enough people, we can always:

1) allow more than one entry

2) change the rules of the contest to get more interest

I know some people on classic space argued that a fighter contest is too easy, too obvious... it only shows the lack of creativity and imagination of those guys. don't let them fool you, a fighter can be anything you want it to be...

i'll give this thread ago for two weeks or so, if we don't have enough candidates by then, we'll decide wether we wanna keep this contest or change it...

does that sound ok?

I'm up for another go at this. But you should know my entry is going to be purple or sand blue again. I like it because it's the most alien of colors *alien* I think?

Anyway, unless you have prizes in mind, you should probably call it a challenge rather than a contest.

I would definitely be up for another round of this - competition is always good for inspiration (and I have to defend my title, after all ;-) - and by the way, thanks to everyone who voted for me the first time!)

I am quite busy right now, with the end of the semester, and moving across the country in a few months, so it would actually depend on the deadline. But as I said, in principle I would definitely be interested.

Well, you already know I'm in.

Hmmmh, so busy at work... and I need a new camera... but yeah sure, fun's fun.

From the previous contest that I ran low on time in, I have a leftover that needs development...

I'd say in 1 week I could have an entry that impresses.

and in 2 weeks I could have one that has a chance of winning.

But I wouldnt want anything that runs longer than that, for risk of stagnation or boredom....

P.S. related note on starship development:

How do you guys go about doing it?

I started with lots of sketches,

then I made a cockpit, and engines,

and now I have a temporary scaffolding of bricks holding the cockpit and engines and some simple wings in a shape that matches the drawing.

so now i'm trying to fill in the holes inbetween the features with bricks, and replace the scaffolding with more a permanent skeleton as I go...

Feeling kinda stuck in this stage now.

I often use references as source for ideas, this could be a cool vehicle / mecha / whatever I've seen in a movie or TV (e.g. the A.P.U.s from Matrix or the Vampire from the Wing Commander game).

other than this I can recommand the CS Concept Art galleries!

There are many freaking things that inspired me already a few times to try my hand on those! (Most of the creations in this BS folder are inspired from CS artworks as well as my Polaris!)

I'm in. I like suckers comments like the one you red on CS Snefroe. I think it's just cause they only know how to make one type of ships using SNOT everywhere.

I am game. I have my last final today and then a free summer.

I won't have much access to the internet though. Try to let contests run for two-three weeks if possible.

MOC on!

Oh and Xeno if you have the time, just build it any way and count it up as a first draft. Then take the whole thing apart and start from scratch keeping what you liked and fixing everything you didn't.

aha! people are signing up! *sweet*

ok... we'll get a deadline for June 4th. That's a Monday in three weeks from now...

also, we need to find a word for these challenges without a prize.

X-D eheheh.... Ohwell, my current project uses a fair amount of SNOT... hopefully I don't fall into the same generic pattern(any thoughts on exactly what makes them all the same btw? useful to know design cliche's).

It all started with the cockpit.. The only way to get the angles I wanted was to SNOT two giant slopes... which meant it was fairly smooth...thus now the rest of it also needs to be relatively stud-hidden...

...at least I'm not hiding every last one, and I'm not planning on going greeb-crazy like a SW ucs. We'll see.

Go on then, I'll see if I can come up with something different. Might I suggest that you copy the rules to this (or the entry-) thread, so people who didn't enter last time can find them without having to jump to the other topics.

Anyone can enter, admins, fellows, or who ever you are, you can enter. If you want to help me by creating polls for the voting stages or making banners/ avatars for example, just PM me, all help welcome.

Rules

1. No wining.

2. Do not enter more than one MOC

3. Do not steal people's MOCs from brickshelf, it will be an automatic disqualification and maybe ban for more space contests.

4. Have fun.

Reward

Simply been crowned best space MOCer of the universe....well, the space section of eurobricks anhow.

What?! We don't! ;-)

I'll probably start work on my entry towards the end of the week, after I've got some exams out of the way.
