snefroe Posted May 12, 2007 Posted May 12, 2007 as I said in the other topic, you can post several pics, but don't exagerate. Refer to your BS-account if you've got lots of pics you want to show us. REMEMBER THE DEADLINE: JUNE 4TH!
Boonetrooper Posted May 12, 2007 Posted May 12, 2007 Is there a prize? my ship is done, tweaking and all. It's called the X-14 Gooseneck. I should have pics in a day or two.

Jipay Posted May 20, 2007 Posted May 20, 2007 Admiral Bernek once requested the mecanicians of the earth Armada to build a fighter especially for him. Since everyone in the army truely hated this man, the designers went for a bulky fighter, with a lame na me : the thunder turtel. The particularity of the fighter is that the weaponery is located at the back of the ship, making it hard to hit anything. Only years later was discovered the fact that this has been done on purpose, everyone hoping for Bernek to die during a fight. The idea originaly comes from those aquanauts domes that I saw lying around when I was in search for some inspiration this afternoon. I decided to go on with a turtuel design. So here is the thing : It features one main cockpit, and a compartment at the back, featuring a seat to fire the rear artillery. This is the cockpit. Nothing to mention beside the particular building technic that was requiered to hang those things around the pilot. Cockpit with Captain Jipay flying. Now the front view of the ship. As you can see, a lots of transblue used in there. The fighter fully opens, including its main body to reveal the empty decorated interior (no time |-/ ) Now the rear view of the ship, introducing a grand new way of attaching engines to a ship. Now to the best part of any fighter : the guns. here there are only 2 of them, ut they are closer to an artillery. They can move up and down, classic design. That's all folks X-D I hope you're enjoying the thing ! After all this contest is about being original right ? :-P
snefroe Posted May 21, 2007 Author Posted May 21, 2007 the first thing i noticedis the arm in the cockpit. must remember to steal that in a future moc :-D i like the over all look, really. it reminds me of the B-17 bomber and i think it has some great potential as a ship of peaceful exploration...
KimT Posted May 21, 2007 Posted May 21, 2007 Agreed... The cockpit looks cool [must use photographic memory for future spaceships) *y* The ship has a kind of submarine/aquatic look to it....and I like it. *wub* Great colour scheme white and blue is always a super mix. *y* And yeah - the interior (except the cockpit) is missing a bit. KimT
Jipay Posted May 28, 2007 Posted May 28, 2007 Thanks for the replies guys *sweet* Yeah the aquanauts cockpit looks cool, that has always been my favoryte part of the theme. The arm is probably the first personnal technic I'm posting on eb, glad you like it X-D It's a simple yet effective way of adding a bit more screens to a place. The good thing is that it can be used both the way I did, or upper, which allows to make a screen look like it's hanging from the roof. I'm now waiting for the other entries, only one more week !
snefroe Posted May 28, 2007 Author Posted May 28, 2007 I'm now waiting for the other entries, only one more week ! yeah... i'm gonna try to get mine finished today
Starwars4J Posted May 28, 2007 Posted May 28, 2007 I'm now waiting for the other entries, only one more week ! I'm waiting for a BL order for like...three parts |-/ If it gets too close, I'll just submit the fighter as-is, using some creative photography and parts swapping so it isn't noticeable X-D
Starwars4J Posted May 31, 2007 Posted May 31, 2007 My new fighter (showcased in this topic) is my entry! Here's the 3/4 view Apologies for the glare, I can take new ones if you need This is the Imperial PV2 fighter. Meant to be mass-produced, these fighters don't carry anything expensive like missiles, just lives. Despite appearance, they're actually fairly sturdy, and have average speed and firepower (three light laser cannons). The design is new, and likely to be a big "hit" among the rebels.
Boonetrooper Posted May 31, 2007 Posted May 31, 2007 Like evry other contest, I'm doomed. My only hope Is uniqueness! I should have pics up later today. It's called the X-13 Gooseneck, by the way.
xenologer Posted May 31, 2007 Posted May 31, 2007 This is the Imperial PV2 fighter. Neat, I like your solution to balancing the lump on the roof with the 3 guns. The symmetry and compactness makes me think this guy would be packed with a few hundred of his brothers like sardines in the sides of a special carrier SHIP. Swarming attacks, like bees! The engines... I personally don't like using transtiles as engines, mainly because this prevents their use as lights on the same MOC for consistency, but I guess its not an issue here. Hmmh, my other suggestion is that the studs between each of the gun/thruster pods, look like good opportunities to add details (space permitting). If you like greebs, thats prime greeb real estate... I don't really tho; was thinking that covering over the rear ones with grille tiles might look interesting (engine heat radiator?). Or maybe 1*1 round plates between studs down each side. This might simultaneously be a good way to add more colors, the overall color uniformity makes it seem simpler than it is.

Swarming attacks, like bees! That's actually the plan! I have a fun little cruiser in the works that could hold 6 of these with a little room to spare :-) The engines... I personally don't like using transtiles as engines, mainly because this prevents their use as lights on the same MOC for consistency, but I guess its not an issue here. I know a lot of people don't like the trans-blue tiles for engines, but I dunno, I kinda like it in this case. I guess all personal preference here :-P Hmmh, my other suggestion is that the studs between each of the gun/thruster pods, look like good opportunities to add details (space permitting). If you like greebs, thats prime greeb real estate... I don't really tho; Well, I'm all for some greebs, however if you saw this in person you'd see why I can't really. Due to the overlap of the 1x3 covering pieces (I wish I knew what they were called), they don't permit for even a 1x1 plate to fit there, the most I could do would be to put a few 1x1 round plates inbetween the studs. Or I could fit ONE 1x2 tile on the studs directly in front of the engine pods, but that would look awkward I think with just that one bit of greeb was thinking that covering over the rear ones with grille tiles might look interesting (engine heat radiator?). I know this is a bit of blasphemy, but due to the construction a lot of studs are showing, and since I can't get rid of them all, I decided to show as many as possible to keep it uniform in design. that's why the pod-coverings are the angular pieces with two studs on top, as opposed to the smooth piece used originally, to try to keep the motif uniform. Or maybe 1*1 round plates between studs down each side. This might simultaneously be a good way to add more colors, the overall color uniformity makes it seem simpler than it is. That's an idea, I'll definitely have to give that a try in three months when I'm around my bricks again. Thanks for all your advice, xenologer! And you're not xeno from CS are ya? :-P

It's called the X-13 Gooseneck, by the way. my ship is also finished, i'll also take pics later on... however, i fear for this moc... it won't be alive for very long... :-X
Boonetrooper Posted June 1, 2007 Posted June 1, 2007 X-13 Gooseneck Sleek, menacing, and a likeness to geese...
snefroe Posted June 3, 2007 Author Posted June 3, 2007 here's my entry; it's called "the viper" it's my second option for the entry, honestly, because my first didn't really make it. maybe i'll post pics of that one later... "the Viper" is a poor man's fighter. it's a one seat policing vehicle that poor countries, communities and planets use to police their atmosphere. at best, it's a solar hopper, it handles travels between objects in space of a solar system pretty well, but anything beyond is just not doable. the engine uses a stealth technology to protect the small fighter against all sorts of detection, which makes it pretty much invisible in the blackness of space. the fighter has two laser guns. they're not supposed to take on a space cruiser, but they'll do well against any average space ship; the landing procedure is quite simple but unique compared to any other space type. as such, it doesn't have a landing gear, it's depending on a foot that remains at his point of departure and there's another one at the intended point of arrival. Sure, it can land on ground, more like a glider than a fighter plane. that makes the viper more like a peace keeping fighter than a warship. it's a guard, to protect law and order, not a heavy gunner... the cockpit section is kinda narrow, and is created by 4 of these. plate hinges lift the nose to allow the pilot to get in or out...
ApophisV Posted June 3, 2007 Posted June 3, 2007 Neat cockpit mechanism! Need to steal the basic principles of it for future MOCs! ;-)
Jipay Posted June 3, 2007 Posted June 3, 2007 This contest brings a lot of stealing :-D Maybe we could create a fighter using all the neat tricks shown in the entries
snefroe Posted June 3, 2007 Author Posted June 3, 2007 This contest brings a lot of stealing :-D Maybe we could create a fighter using all the neat tricks shown in the entries lol yep :-P but at least we're honest about it :-P
hewkii9 Posted June 3, 2007 Posted June 3, 2007 Can I enter my Striking Valkyrie even though I already posted it? The deadline's tomorrow, isn't it?
snefroe Posted June 3, 2007 Author Posted June 3, 2007 Can I enter my Striking Valkyrie even though I already posted it? The deadline's tomorrow, isn't it? well... it closes tonight at 12. i was checking EB but couldn't find your Moc. if you posted it during the timeframe of the contest which is about 3 weeks, i'll allow it, otherwise you'll have to wait untill the next contest I'm afraid
hewkii9 Posted June 3, 2007 Posted June 3, 2007 (edited) I posted it a couple of days ago in the Mecha forum. Here it is: The Striking Valkyrie Was build as a full aerial assault machine to complement the ground units of Viking-Force. It is armed with two laser cannons and axes and spears mounted on the wingtips. Three heatflame engines power the machine, and can be used to burn damaged enemy aircraft. A basic repulsorlift in the rear allows flights with a minimal flight strip. Experienced pilots can use the weapons apparatus at the ends to damage the sides of larger ships.
