mpoh98 Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 (edited) The Great Tower of Albion, the capital city of Avalonia. Finally, I was able to find time to finish this project! This was a ton of fun to build, it was interesting to try out the angle on the walls, I had a lot of fun with those! I will let the pictures speak for themselves, enjoy! Soli Deo Gloria! ~Matthew~ Edited March 27, 2014 by mpoh98 Quote
de Gothia Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 Looks great! It looks smooth and I like the wooden parts that break up the grey! Great work! Only nitpick is the wrong flags though! ;) Quote
-Carson Haupt- Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 Nice! I love the arches in the wall. Quote

Only nitpick is the wrong flags though! ;) Thanks De Gothia! Yeah, the base was an already made base for Lenfald, I just completely forgot about the flags (those are Lenfald's flags in LCC) till after I posted the creation, and was looking it over. Since I don't have any sand green flags for Avalonia, I thought I got rid of all the unnecessary flags, but missed the yellow one in the base. :/ Whoops! What a fantastic clean tower... Thanks Narbilu! That is what I was going for :) Love the wooden tops! Thanks TheUtilityBelt32! Those are also one of my favorite parts! Nice! I love the arches in the wall. Thanks Carson! :D Quote
HammerBro Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 Great job! I love the angled wood supports on the tower and the dark grey accents. And the fact that the wall curves a bit is very nice. Quote
Hammerhand Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 I love the look of this tower. The texturing and the wood tops are great! It's the perfect mix of detail and simplicity. Great job! Quote
mpoh98 Posted March 27, 2014 Author Posted March 27, 2014 Lovely tower dude!;) Nice texturing Thank you Gunman! :D Great job! I love the angled wood supports on the tower and the dark grey accents. And the fact that the wall curves a bit is very nice. Thanks HammerBro33! :D I tried to get that curve in, as it is curved in the picture. :) I love the look of this tower. The texturing and the wood tops are great! It's the perfect mix of detail and simplicity. Great job! Thanks Hammerhand! :D Quote
ZCerberus Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 Excellent. I'll link this up when I have time. Quote
Gideon Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 (edited) Suitably height of the wall for the great city of Albion! Good job with the details and texturing as well, and I really like the subtle hint of a curve in the wall I suppose it's a matter of taste, but I wouldn't have minded some more variety in the texturing however. Thank you Gideon! Hmm, yes, I was going for the clean look, but I think I might try out some more texturing next time! :) On a side note, congrats on the MOC expert tag, I knew it was coming one day! Well deserved! :) Quote
Gilbert Despathens Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 Um... I'm no expert on Albion, but this looks like two towers set into a curtain wall to me. It's a mighty curtain wall, but a curtain wall nonetheless. As for the texturing, I like the style. Your clean-cut builds stand out from the crumbly majority amongst the work of expert castle builders. Some might see a lot of masonry bricks, but after a closer look the brilliant details pop out, like those hinge bricks in the corners of the towers adding those subtle quarter-cylinders to the texture. Most people don't use something like that in their castles, and those angle bricks that alternate with the hinges can kill the appearance of their builds. Mixing the layout up with a bunch of 1x2 SNOT tiles and crumbly bits would have killed the look. Quote
Captain BeerBeard Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 The build is very visually appealing. I dislike the uniform simplicity, though. Very well done, otherwise. Quote

Yes, if you look at the picture in the Albion collaborative thread, it is a rectangle, so I think you can decipher it how you want to. This is how I imagined it, with 2 separate towers, with a small section of a wall between them. ZCerberus didn't have a problem with it, so I am guessing it is fine. :) I am confused on the rest of your comment, is it praise, or critique? The build is very visually appealing. I dislike the uniform simplicity, though. Very well done, otherwise. Thanks Captain! Yes, I tried to make it simple, and visually appealing. Next time, like Gideon said, I will use more texture, and less simplicity. :) Quote
