My only requirements are:

- Is it OT?

- Is it decent?

I pretty much have all of the 2010-current SW System scale sets.

I happily skipped over the Hoth Echo Base though, what a heap of cr@p.

You must have a lot of sets! I am the same regarding the addiction and LEGO knows it!!!

According to Brickset:

You own 393 sets, 382 different.

We have piece counts for 382 of them. You own 158609 pieces.

We have retail prices for 355 of them. Their retail value is$17195.

Also:

You own 1109 minifigs.

Plus MOCs!

I need to take pics soon, but, I am in the process of rebuilding my whole collection, I moved.

Jamie

Only buy relevant sets that would be fun to play with and make scenes with. For example, the V-Wing is irrelevent and had little screen time, so I won't buy it. I have intentions to buy every 2012 set on BL since they all came off as important to me (especially Palpatine's arrest) and I will also buy the Gungan sub because Padme is a figure I can't pass up on.

I have to agree. Not sure what Lego was thinking with the echo base. I understand the idea of a playset, but something about it did not feel like star wars. I think a square base with blast doors woukd have made more sense.

It does fold round into a square set with doors. I only bought it as it was half price at the time in Toys r us. The mini figures are cool too.

I have a love/hate relationship with the PT. They had some pretty cool vehicle designs, and some nice battle scenes, but that's where to joy ended. Cringe-worthy writing, horrible story, and really bad acting. I also grew up with the OT, so I may be slightly biased towards them. So, when I started collecting Lego Star Wars I stuck to the OT. However, the last couple of waves have produced some nice PT sets, like the AT-TE and Republic Gunship, so I've picked up a select few PT sets along the way. I stay away from Clone Wars sets as if they had the black plague, those minifigs look creeeepy.

I know a lot of people feel this way about the set, but I feel like it's underrated. We all knew they weren't going to be able to give us the "entire' Echo base, and they managed to fit a lot in this set. I agree, some of the design decisions are questionable, but overall it's an ok set. It also gives you a good start for making your own Echo Base MOC. Great minifigs too. I think it's a lot better than the previous version that was basically a blast door and a cannon.

I have the 7666. I personally feel it is better than the latest one, because it re-creates the entire outlook of the base, and has a number of unique elements and build, whereas the latest one seems to be a bunch of play features put together in a very tattered way. I agree on the minifgs being better though, and granted being a TRU exclusive in Australia, the marked up price didn't help much in justifying the purchase. if it was below $100, I would see it being justifiable.

I mainly collect Lego castles but i do have a few Starwars sets. I've limited myself to only collecting sets from Jabbas Palace or the Cantina. And every year i buy the Starwars Advent calendar.

I have a huge collection of Hasbro Starwars figures and didn't really want to start collecting the full range of Lego sets. There's only so much space in a house that you can fill with Lego. :classic:

I started with the SSD 3 years ago, slowly started collecting as many UCS lines as I could. I then got sucked into collecting the minifigs and at this point I have a full-blown completionists addiction to the line. I am now at 103 sets and at this rate when I move I may need a lego house to display everything.

I collect PT, OT and TOR myself, though I will not always buy every set. The set I want 2 buy must contain curtain things, like good mini figures, a bit of accuracy and I must like the model of course.

I like to put all my sets out on a shelf, but for some of my favorite number 1 sets, I like to build a little diorama around it, but nothing to big.

What I do like to do is making existing sets better. Like with the LAAT/i and LAAt/c, I replaced the "White Slope, Curved" with "White Slope 18 4 x 1" and modded the cockpit and wings, as I own 3 7676 LAAt/i and didn't want to buy the new 75021 LAAt/i to have a more accurate version.

I am bound and determined to collect all of the Star Wars sets, so I find it necessary to prioritize them. My priorities go as follows:

1. Any set containing Clones.

2. Any set containing Jedi I don't have yet.

3. Sets containing battle droids and CIS units.

4. Sets with Imperial troops

5. Sets with Rebels in them

6. MINI themed sets (includes the micro-fighters, despite the minifigs that apply to a category above; I think the sets are ugly  )

7. UCS scaled sets (very cool looking, but too expensive to put higher on the list)

8. Technic sets (I only need three: the Stormtrooper, Droid Developer and Dark Side Developer)

9. Miscellaneous OT (Landspeeders, Jabba, etc.)

10. Miscellaneous PT (Jango's Slave I, etc.)

As for displaying the sets, the only ones I keep together are Clone wars era vehicles and UCS sets. All others I build once I get them, then take them apart a few months later to conserve space.

The interesting thing is that I am a die-hard OT fan. I despise Episode II like the plague. But the Clone Wars era vehicles are very appealing, and I've always liked the Jedi.

I am confused here, perhaps maybe I'm a newbie here and not reading it right. You mentioned you are a die-hard OT fan, and despise Episode II like the plague, but you list your number one priority as " must contain clones", which is odd because OT doesn't really include them, and Episode II kinda introduce them, and spawn the entire clone war series. And your priorities, in totality covers, in effect, everything :)

Iconic ships come first for me. Preferably something with a bit of weight and shelf presence. Stuff like the MF, ISD, etc. I vastly prefer OT, but there are some PT and TCW subjects that I like. I prefer ships over playsets, with a few exceptions. Iconic buildings such as Jabba's Palace or the Mos Eisley Cantina are fine. Where possible I like the grungier ships and the stuff from the greyer edges of things. Smugglers, Bounty Hunters etc. I'm kind of looking forward to the Phantom for this reason. I will by sets based in part on figures, up to a certain price point. Maybe $30 USD depending on how many figs. Past that I will just Bricklink the wanted figs. I loathe sets with Battle Droids. I consider them neither minifig nor acceptable Lego build, and will avoid sets with them wherever possible.

I mainly collect OT sets and have pretty much all of them from 2011 onward, including a few older ones.....although I will also buy non-OT sets if I really like them. Lately I've been thinking of trying to collect all the different droids there have been, and possibly 1 of each type of clone as the designs have really started to interest me.

Unfortunately I've been living overseas and so I order all the sets online and ship them back to home in the US, so the majority have yet to be built...but ones of these days i will have a grand 'ol time.

I seem to have bought a few Star Wars sets

the ones that have not been parted out are the USC ones (x-wing, B-wing, R2D2), and smaller space ships

I guess I like SWOOSHING them around

Parted out are the playsets, Hoth, Jabas sail Barge

I am not a kid, I am not pretending to be Luke on another adventure

I tend to buy OT sets, and I'm afraid it's generally the minifigures that sway my purchases nine times out of ten. :) I'm always looking to see what is useful, new parts etc, and what I can use in my own mocs. Many sets never get built, just merged into the rest of the collection.

I just go for clones. I now have Jek-14 and I am so so happy about that. I can't wait to get the Newer version of him. Anyone know where I can get a ton of clones for cheap prices. (friend and I are trying to mass the actual numbers in the Grand Army of the Republic).

Odd, isn't it? Just because I didn't like the PT movies, doesn't mean I don't enjoy the Clone Wars in general. I'm drawn to the vehicle designs, and I love the variety of Jedi available. Besides, most of the OT sets are rehashes of sets already released, mostly with superficial or minor changes.

I see, thanks for clarifying. In that case, I do see a similarity in collection habits and preferences of Jedi and vehicle designs, although I prefer ot>episode 2>clone wars animation>episode 3>episode 1, in that order.

I usually buy ships over playsets, with the exception of maybe the ones that have essential minifigs. I did get Hoth Echo Base and the Rancor Pit for this reason. I go for OT first, then CW, then PT if the set is really good. I really like fighters above all else and will buy anything with a Jedi or Sith minifig.

I am really looking forward to the new ISD and the Cantina. :excited:*This is meh excited face.*

My rules are pretty simple: if it's Star Wars, I'll buy it. :-)

I prefer to wait for sales, though. And being the completist that I am, that's really the only way to go if I want to afford all of the SW releases and the UCS sets (along with all the other themes I collect).

Wow guys... For those of you that are going the route of completionist, that must be tough because of cost and space limitations. For those of you parting out old sets, its for the sake of building MOC's right?

I quite like to buy Star Wars sets particularly if I missed out on the older version of the set. I also go for sets with redesigns of new minifigures - mainly Jedi and Sith.

I generally get OT or ROTS sets, but I may get sets from the other films if I like them.

I started when my son got into Star Wars back in early 2008. I remember watching the Clone Wars Movie twice back then (he was only 7 at the time and loved the film) and he got a lot of the sets based on it.

That was back when the Death Star cane out, and I can remember him wanting it so bad he made countless MOCs of it and finally got it for his 9th birthday.

Then I can remember he always used to say how much he wanted a Colonel Cracken minifig (he was very into SW action figures at the time and managed to find a lot of 'Vintage Collection' figures half-off at Sainsbury's) and then one came out recently! I do think the minifig's hairpiece is the wrong colour though.

Mostly OT, but if I think something is cool or interesting from another era, I will pick that up too. I've only been out of the dark ages for a year, and I'm a full-time college student (at 41) so I can't get everything that I want.

Mostly because I like some things outside of SW such as Architecture, the modulars, and the Creator Expert line...

Starting to look at some of the headline Technic sets, too....

My wallet hates me.
