EvilEnderman Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 (edited) Ello all, been a while since I've posted an MOC here. Over this weekend, I've been working on a studfull build (haven't built like this for a long time) My aim was to make a small-mid scale rod, with realistic functions. It contains: 4 speed gearbox v6 fake engine Cowl steering (HOG) Not to mention the 'gothic' shredded interior. However, before I start the main bodywork, it's just that when I look at it so far, it doesn't seem right... http://imgur.com/a/fCTuH Edit: @Jim - Thank you for the tip - I have resized them all to a max width of 1000, which should be fine! What do you guys think? - What's that thing that isn't right, or anything to improve? (Will post progress here too) - I will be finishing the build definitely! Thanks! - Enderman Edited March 31, 2014 by EvilEnderman Quote
Hrafn Posted March 31, 2014 Posted March 31, 2014 I like it, and I'm looking forward to seeing the completed model. Are you going to add a firewall between the cabin and the engine, and sides/doors? Those might make it look more finished. And / or maybe a roof, though there are certainly roofless rat rods. Quote
DuckBricks Posted March 31, 2014 Posted March 31, 2014 I actually really like it! Just a question-on the underside, are the hinged bars secure? Quote
EvilEnderman Posted March 31, 2014 Author Posted March 31, 2014 Ah, no they aren't secure, I've been thinking of just taking them down, they don't really add much to the design. If you guys don't see anything wrong with it, I guess I'll start the bodywork then! I'll keep y'all posted! Quote
Jim Posted March 31, 2014 Posted March 31, 2014 Looks promising! Would it be possible to embed some of the pictures next time? It will be easier for the members to see what you are building, instead of needing to open a second page. Not sure if imgur can resize picture for you, but make sure to embed with a maximum width of 1024 pixels. Quote
EvilEnderman Posted March 31, 2014 Author Posted March 31, 2014 Thanks all, going to be building some more tonight. Will post progress here, ofcourse. Quote
EvilEnderman Posted March 31, 2014 Author Posted March 31, 2014 (edited) An hour or so, and 2 cups of tea later... Progress has been made. I've added the firewall (pics below - haven't embedded yet, will do later) http://imgur.com/a/zbW1W You also get a bonus sentry gun x) Does anyone think the firewall is 2 studs too wide? I think I should reduce it in by 1 on each side. What do y'all think? Thanks! - Enderman Edited March 31, 2014 by EvilEnderman Quote
MrNumbskull13 Posted March 31, 2014 Posted March 31, 2014 I think it loos awesome! The width is fine. :) Quote
Doc_Brown Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 This is really sweet, I like the use of dark red. Keep at it. Quote
EvilEnderman Posted April 3, 2014 Author Posted April 3, 2014 Doors = Done! Do yo'all reckon I should leave it with an open top? I'll add a windshield ofcourse. Or, do you think having hard top would suit it? -Enderman Quote
Hrafn Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 Nice! I say add the windshield first and see how it looks with an open top. Either open or closed would look good, I think. Quote
EvilEnderman Posted April 3, 2014 Author Posted April 3, 2014 (edited) If I was doing hard top,I'd most likely build it using SNOT techniques - Don't want all those studs - issue is, i'm quite limited on black pieces I'll start building and see where it takes me Edited April 3, 2014 by EvilEnderman Quote
B Rick Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 Sweet! Great overall hotrod look. What are you going to do to make it a ratrod instead of a hotrod? Btw, I just see only one thing wrong with this car... Quote
EvilEnderman Posted April 8, 2014 Author Posted April 8, 2014 (edited) 'Llo yall. Finally got round to finishing it. Apologies for the atrocious photo quality... might be better here. who knows. http://imgur.com/a/mKCyl I call it 'Olenorodd' Again, first time trying studded building,so it might look strange in some places. Boot opening mechanism - Includes some odd pieces, too. Aaand that's theend of that. Wanted to smash the darn thing as quick as possible. Back to studless it is! -Enderman Edited April 8, 2014 by EvilEnderman Quote
Hrafn Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 Very nice! It ended up looking a lot sleeker and more finished than I expected for a rat rod. Quote
