Anyone know where 193b2 (old space helmet with thick chin strap) in yellow and blue comes from? I just bought a big lot of classic space stuff on eBay and many of the helmets have thick chin straps, but BrickLink doesn't identify these colors in any sets

Hello,

I found in used bulk parts I bought this:

http://www.bricklink...asp?P=3005pb011

but in blue. Printed eye, Lego original brick.

Am I owner of those super rare legoland parts now? :D

Or I just can't find it in BL catalog? ;)

There was also plenty of patpend bricks there. But everything seems standard bricks. Only those eyes, got 2 of them.

Could you show a picture of it? and a picture of the stud, which should say Lego? That would help us tell you what you have.

Also, many thanks for the information on the updated Blacktron stuff.

Also, I'm wondering if the parts on that Ninjago dragon are glow in the dark, or just spring green.

I'm pretty sure I have a non-production part, now that I think of it:

I'm not sure how rare/common it is, or even if it is a non-production part. I got it at a LUG parts swap, and I trust the judgement of the person who I got it from though!

A beautiful part! It's ~kind of~ non-production. It only comes in sets in White and Chrome Blue -- but guess what color Lego used underneath the Chrome coating?

(Which is not to say that the chrome on your part has been removed -- just that it escaped chroming in the first place! This happens quite often with printed parts, there are usually a few unprinted/coated versions floating around...)

Does anyone know of the origin of the 1 x 1 tile in trans-orange? I have seen evidence that suggests such a thing exists but I have no knowledge of where it would have come from or how I can get my hands on some :)

Here's a question...How many of you have bought these rare color parts, only to eventually see them later appear in sets. I have owned a bright light orange bicycle for at least 5 or 6 years and think I paid $25 USD. It had NEVER appeared in a set...at least, not until this year. Thanks to this year's LEGO Friends set, Party Train, the bright light orange bicycle has been made available to the public. A part of me kind of wishes I had sold it last year...but I still love it. There is a medium blue bicycle (and a few other weird colors) bicycles on BrickLink for over $200 - With the possibility of a potential future release, there is no way I would pay that much. I need some security...like if the parts were made in retired colors. A turquoise bike would be awesome. :classic:

The other thing I bought that eventually wound up in future LEGO sets were dark blue kepis. The kepi is the hat worn by the soldiers in the Wild West sets (not the cowboy style hats). In 2008, I bought them in dark blue and red. For a long time, they were considered non-production...until the Lone Ranger sets came out. The soldiers had dark blue uniforms and kepis. I cross my fingers and hope the red kepis are safe.

Anyone else experience this? I can't be the only one.

That's indeed a risk (except for colors which are not used anymore... again except if they re-use them)

I remember that one of the most expensive parts on Bricklink a few years ago was the minifig helmet in maersk blue color, from a truck set of the 80s.

When the maersk train set was released, it included again such helmet. Even if the mold was a little different, it is still the same part on Bricklink, and the price of the old one dropped from hundreds of $ to 25$.

Anyone knows if Lego would be open to produce special colors in not-so-big batches, in this era of crowdfunding/crowd-everything? I mean, I can imagine a new "vote for a part" section at BrickLink, after enough votes, it gets produced & sold to BL sellers.

I would understand if such request would come from fans. But if it would be asked by BL sellers.... no thanks. The sole reason BL sellers need such parts is to make money, not making these parts available to anyone.

Yeah that's the whole point. If Lego produces a big lot, it needs the reseller part, and that's exactly what BL is about.

Sure, Lego already has both:

-Lego Ideas for the crowd-business part

-Bricks&Pieces (& PAB) for the reselling part

..but I can't imagine Lego bothering with new parts in B&P when they don't even have their latest parts there.

And certainly a new part color would be more expensive. But only the last ones available would be overexpensive, because economy. It's better than not having the part at all.

It could also work the other way & make existing rare parts less expensive. Like those bloody technic small bushes in black that cost up to 10eur.
