Simon_S Posted March 31, 2014 Posted March 31, 2014 Hey guys I haven't posted any builds for some time, but that doesn't mean that I am dead ;-). I just was busy... with building! Last weekend, I was at my first LEGO convention, the SteinCHenwelt 2014. I had a great time there and I even won a Orthanc set (not because I was the best builder, just because of luck). So now, I'm proud to present you the second part of my diorama I built for this exhibition (Belynia Castle, first module): Belynia Village I built 5 more HSS buildings in this: 1. HSS Laborers: Stone mine 2. HSS Nautical: Harbor Interior 3. HSS Craftsmen (General Goods): Carpenter Interior 4. HSS Agriculture (Livestock): Horse Farm Interior 5. HSS Hospitality: Tavern Interior Also here is a convention shot: And then, this... Thank you for looking and have a great day! Simon Schweyer Quote
LegoPanda Posted March 31, 2014 Posted March 31, 2014 looks nice, i like the bear in the mine and the roof of the harbor, keep up the good work Quote
Scaevola Posted March 31, 2014 Posted March 31, 2014 (edited) The moc looks really great! I like the roofing on the harbor - wish there were some close up pictures of the castle part though Edit: Nevermind, I didn't see the link before :) Edited March 31, 2014 by Scaevola Quote
HammerBro Posted March 31, 2014 Posted March 31, 2014 My favorite has to be either the tone mine of the harbor. The river above the mine is a great addition, especially with the guy rowing and the bear underneath! The tents for the stone are also a cool touch. The harbor roofing is great! and the dock section of it works well. The horse farm is very nice as well with the fencing! Great, great build! Quote
Ridge Montante Posted March 31, 2014 Posted March 31, 2014 Very nice build. I love seeing this all together with the castle you build earlier. Quote
kabel Posted March 31, 2014 Posted March 31, 2014 Wow, so much cool stuff to look at! The water, the ship, houses ... everything is nice, except for those fleshy heads ... And yes, you are a big time Barbarian! Quote
Trance89 Posted March 31, 2014 Posted March 31, 2014 Nice job! I like the water and the diversity of buildings (although they seem a bit to small to me). The minifigs add a lot to the atmosphere as well. And the cute bear of course... Quote
Gilbert Despathens Posted March 31, 2014 Posted March 31, 2014 I think that black round plates would have looked better as the bear's eyes. The rest of the display is great, though, especially given the scale. Is... was... that your largest yet? Quote
mrcp6d Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 Lovely, lovely diorama. Glad you added to your CCC MOC! Quote
TheUtilityBelt Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 The roofs are awesome! and my favorite building is probably the horse farm. Quote
soccerkid6 Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 Magnificent layout, Simon. Your water design is lovely, I like how you did tan underneath the water near the shore this time My favorite building is the harbor, I think I'll try a roof like that myself soon with the cheese slopes I got from you. The stables is a nice addition, especially the corral ,I haven't seen that done much. Did you end up using all of your pieces? Quote
Simon_S Posted April 1, 2014 Author Posted April 1, 2014 looks nice, i like the bear in the mine and the roof of the harbor, keep up the good work Thank you LegoPanda! frickin brilliant detailing, M'Lord Simon Thanks mate :) Cool all together Simon.. Nice Thanks Gunman! The moc looks really great! I like the roofing on the harbor - wish there were some close up pictures of the castle part though Edit: Nevermind, I didn't see the link before :-) Thank you! My sister sent me a cup full of the olive cheese and the column parts from the PaB wall :-D. My favorite has to be either the tone mine of the harbor. The river above the mine is a great addition, especially with the guy rowing and the bear underneath! The tents for the stone are also a cool touch. I love seeing this all together with the castle you build earlier. Thank you! Wow, so much cool stuff to look at! The water, the ship, houses ... everything is nice, except for those fleshy heads ... And yes, you are a big time Barbarian! Thanks kabel. P.s. being a Barbarian is pretty cool ;-) Nice job! I like the water and the diversity of buildings (although they seem a bit to small to me). The minifigs add a lot to the atmosphere as well. And the cute bear of course... Thank you. The reason for the small buildings is the following: If I make them larger, the castle would seem way smaller. And then I also could fit only 2 houses in there, but I wanted to make enough to have all required categories for the Historican Settlements Challenge done. I think that black round plates would have looked better as the bear's eyes. The rest of the display is great, though, especially given the scale. Is... was... that your largest yet? Thanks Gilbert! It's nice to see you here in the forum! Also welcome to Avalonia, you obviously choose the best guild ;-). P.s. I did a similar bear before with black studs as eyes and I was more happy with this solution (maybe because it is a little bit more comical). I love the roofs, and the fleshies! Haha, thanks mate! Lovely, lovely diorama. Glad you added to your CCC MOC! Thanks mate. The castle actually wasn't for CCC, I just posted it before because I had great sunlight outside and could take good pictures. The roofs are awesome! and my favorite building is probably the horse farm. Thank you! Magnificent layout, Simon. It means a lot to me to hear all the nice comments from you. I didn't manage to put all my pieces in it, mostly because of the lack of baseplates (I only have 8 green and 2 blue ones)... also, a guy from the SwissLUG sent me a PaB cup full of 1x4 brown tiles, which I couldn't all use (maybe around 300 of 800)... and in the end, I also had many other pieces left. Gabe Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 Wow, what a great layout! Lots of sweet details - i think my fav is the bear in the cave. The dockyard and ship also caught my eye, and all the different rooftops look great together. Well done and congrats on your win, that's awesome! Quote
Yooha Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 The bear is cute! And the whole town looks fantastic. Quote

Hammerhand Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 Wow, incredible layout! So many details. And that water affect in the harbor really caught my eyes! Totally cool. I have to say, at first I thought your druid was a mitgardian lady... Quote

Damn great layout, shame it was "dropped"! ;) You know, that's the good thing of LEGO: You can put the bricks together only to take them apart after it ;-). Quote
robuko Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 Awesome Layout Simon. The roof of the carpenter is really nice, is it with jumper plates under it? The bear is so cute and funny! What a great build. Quote
Ecclesiastes Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 Truly stunning Simon, all the colors worked so well together! Too bad you destroyed it! Saw your video, no broken pieces?! Quote

What a great build. Thanks mate! Here's a link to the roof techniques thread, where I posted how to do it: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=34961&st=25 Truly stunning Simon, all the colors worked so well together! Too bad you destroyed it! Saw your video, no broken pieces?! Thanks Ecc! I didn't finish with sorting (only done about 20% until now) and I found one broken bamboo leave until now, so I think that's pretty good. Also, there was a carpet on the floor and the table wasn't very high, so it worked well. I actually dropped it because I don't have my drivers licence yet and a friend drove me to the convention, but I coudn't find someone to drive my MOC back. That means, I had to go home by train and I couldn't it transport like that, so I dropped it and stuffed it all into one suitcase. Quote
