Clone OPatra Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 I'm not sure what you mean when you say 'full articulation' in your review of Flain, j2g. If anything, the review shows well how little articulation Flain has - his head and arms move up and down, and the only thing useful you can do with the legs is to turn them at a slight angle. He still looks cute, but to me he looks like he really lacks different posing options of any sort (since the head only seems to look good in one position anyway, and changing an arm position isn't much of a pose). Some of the others look like they do a much better job of posing possibilities. Quote

I see what you're saying. That's a very good point. Even worse in articulation is Shuff- his head doesn't even move. The most articulate seems to be Velectro. His arms, "elbow", and fingers move along with his legs. Still, they aren't really full articulate as the arms are not on a ball joint, nor is the head. Thanks for taking the time to watch my review though! Volectro: Edited February 7, 2014 by just2good Quote
Riftx Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 I am loving this series, It is as if it were made for me! (but im not stuiped enough to even consider that) It takes 2 of my favourite concepts, lego and combiners, throws in a dash of silly and the rainbow, then hits the blender to 11. As soon as these are out down Aus im getting all and leaving them in Max forms :) Speaking of which, im fairly certian theyve shown us the Max's for series 2 and 3, weve all just missed it. http://www.lego.com/en-us/mixels/explore/mix-max-murp/mix-max-murp#./mix-max-murp The other 6 are in there for sure, 1 im about 80% sure of is top left, just to the right of Infernites Max, for the dark brown ones with the teeth gimmic. I may be wrong but there may be another just to the side of Electroids Max, right side, for whatever green is all about Quote
ShadowWolfHount Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Oh yeah, and the box looks really nice. -Sci I haven't look much into these but the next 2 series have gotten my interest. Anyway what they are coming in is alright, putting the set in bag is a really good idea and I don't like those cartoon art but I don't get why they put in something from series 2 in series 1 box, it's odd and can confuse kids because they can say "mommy I want the blue one" (that one you can see in the middle) or something like that but he have to wait until summer or when ever series 2 comes out. ZORK64 Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Yes, bright blue (or azure) in the Series 2 Mixels! Even it's not the pieces I'd need for some MOCs (I would need flat studs mostly), they come with pieces that should work just fine as pretty good substitutes. I must say, series 1 looks pretty lame compared to series 2 and 3, but there are still a few Mixels I really want to get. Quote
DraikNova Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Oh boy, the purple ones look nice and monster-themed. And the sea theme for the orange ones is correct, huh. And even better, Torts has tr. neon green starfish, rather than just lime ones. Apparently, Lunk features the Ninjago sword in blue, without the annoying white blend, making it significantly more useful. Overall, a tempting buy. Quote

I must say, series 1 looks pretty lame compared to series 2 and 3, but there are still a few Mixels I really want to get. I'm fond of the Series 1 Mixels. They may not be as diverse as some of the later Mixels (they're all generic cartoon creatures, not animal-inspired ones like some of the later ones), but they do a great job setting the tone for the theme. Some of my favorites are Flain, Shuff, Krader, and Volectro. But really the only ones that I'm not super-impressed with from the first series are Seismo and Teslo. Oh boy, the purple ones look nice and monster-themed. And the sea theme for the orange ones is correct, huh. And even better, Torts has tr. neon green starfish, rather than just lime ones. Apparently, Lunk features the Ninjago sword in blue, without the annoying white blend, making it significantly more useful. Overall, a tempting buy. The purple ones actually seem generally magic-themed to me, based on their designs. Sort of like the Fright Knights theme from LEGO Castle. This is most true of Magnifo, who's a wizard... though obviously he has some monster-y elements, like all the Mixels. As far as I can tell, the "themes" for the tribes are as follows: Red (Infernites): Fire Grey (Cragsters): Rock Yellow (Electroids): Electricity Blue: Ice (They all have ice motifs, and Slumbo's name suggests hibernation.) Brown: Land animals (though it could be "eating" for all I know — all the names are related to eating, and they all have oversized mouths.) Orange: Sea animals Green: Swamp? (This is another I'm unsure about. The ooze motifs are obvious, but the vine-like tail on Glurt makes me think swamp rather than just generic green goop.) Tan: Sand/Earth (Footi's feet and Hoogi's hands are obviously designed for digging, Scorpi is a scorpion, and the colors are desert-like.) Purple: Magic (The names are all magic-related, Magnifo has magic wands and a wizard hat, Mesmo has horns made of witch's hats, and Wizwuz shoots a magical lightning beam from his mouth). I do have to wonder a couple things about the Series 2 and 3 Mixels. First is obviously the tribe names, but also, if this theme is wildly successful, what will the designers do in 2015? Obviously they could get more milage out of the existing tribes if they wanted, but I think from a marketing standpoint they're going to want to have new tribes in order to use new and eye-catching color schemes and motifs. In other news, I saw a Mixels ad in the theater before the LEGO Movie today! Quote
Lordofdragonss Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 I hope to see pink, white and maybe even TRANSLUCENT (powered up?) mixels in the future. Quote
ShiningShinE Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 (edited) Yeah, I'd also love to see white and pink, and maybe an olive and dark green combo (akin to the Crocodile Legend Beast). But apart from these and something like dark blue, there aren't many colors left. So maybe each tribe will just get three new ones if the theme continues in 2015. Riftx Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 Everyone is talking about white and clear, what about black? Sure people may say the nixels cover that, but perhaps they could be combined nixels? And yes I know that goes against their style, but wouldn't that be ironic. Just brain storming Quote
Kalhiki Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 I don't know. Black seems to be covered with the stone-based Mixels. Granted they're dark grey, but still. Close enough to black if you ask me. Quote
Zenerius Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 I don't know. Black seems to be covered with the stone-based Mixels. Granted they're dark grey, but still. Close enough to black if you ask me. "I only work in black, and sometimes very, very dark grey." -Batman For some reason I thought of that when I read your post. As for other Mixels, we could have gold or yellow ones, sand blue ones, and like some of you have already said we could have white or pink. Quote
Takanuinuva Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 I'm actually trying to design a group of pink mixels. After seeing that there doesn't appear to be any female mixels. There power would be to make things grow. So if a forest was destroyed they could make it come back alive. Quote
DraikNova Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 The next waves might simply be more Mixels of the same tribes, or even one to three larger Nixels. Upgraded versions of the current Mixels (seeing as shows rarely remove their cast members for the next season) are also a possibility. Quote
GregoryBrick Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 (edited) I'm actually trying to design a group of pink mixels. After seeing that there doesn't appear to be any female mixels. A quick check shows Teslo, Zaptor, Krader, and Flain are the only ones who are referred to as 'he' or a 'guy', so maybe you're just assuming none of them are female (EDIT: and also assuming that they are male by default unless they're pink or whatever). Edited February 8, 2014 by GregoryBrick Quote
Takanuinuva Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 Well we'll have to wait for the show to be certain if any of them are female. Quote
Riftx Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 It'll most likely be a whole female tribe Quote
DraikNova Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 (edited) The mixel site has a game on it now, that allows you to make mix-s and murps. Some of them look quite nice, others look like they could have been executed better. That includes the murps, some of which could have been much weirder-looking. There's another section of the site that explains the "story" (insert sarcastic comments here), but there's a bug that causes the character descriptions to say "LEGO® Mixels. Explore the mixels." before getting to the description itself. EDIT: Wow. That's a lot of mixels. EDIT2:If you look closely, you can see the series 2 and 3 Mixels too, not just their mixes. One of the blue ones is easiest to spot, right behind Flain. An orange one is at the far right, in the second row. Edited February 9, 2014 by DraikNova Quote
ShadowWolfHount Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 Well we'll have to wait for the show to be certain if any of them are female. I agree but like Takanuinuva, I do think there there are not any female but that is with the series 1, because I do think the Purple Mixels are females. Quote
Lyichir Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 I don't see why gender is so important for them. As far as I'm concerned, they're all weird monster things. I'd be just as happy if none of them used gendered pronouns. Quote

xxlrocka Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Ah, yes. They do have a Jelly Belly stand, not sure for how- oh, wait, you mean the Mixels. Huh, so.... they're out now, apparently. And they're awesome. Quote
Riftx Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 It's a sugar high mountain, the perfect mix when making your crazy mixel combinations Quote
ShiningShinE Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 I spotted building instructions for the MAXes, two MIXes end a MURP. Do you think there will be building instructions for all MIXes en MURPs? Quote
