coolcab1 Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 Got Flain, Siesmo ,and Teslo today they are pretty sweet. Quote
Kalhiki Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 I'm heading to Walmart today to see if they have any of the sets. I have five bucks on hand and want a fourth Mixel... with a Nixel. Who should I go for: Vulk, Teslo, or Krader? Personally, I'd say Krader. He's got a fun design with his spinny upper half and giant fist. He's actually probably my favorite Mixel so far. Quote
TheBrickPal Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 Well, I'm back from the store. Wouldn't you know it, they are sold out of all of Series 1! All that was left was the box display they are put on the shelves in. I'll have to go to Target soon and report my findings there. Oh, well. I left with candy, so I was a pretty happy guy regardless! He's the only one I really want to buy so far. Maybe Vulk for a second Nixel and some more pieces, but then I'm waiting for series two and three. They seem to have a bit more personality to a lot of them. Quote
exxtrooper Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 (edited) The mixel sets are an interesting bunch, while they're main selling point would be the new mini joints, some of the sets themselves do look pretty adorable. Edited March 6, 2014 by exxtrooper Quote
bacem Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Got a hold of Flyer beast and Rocka stealth machine, now that the whole line is in stores i consider getting another one of the sets, but I am not sure which yet. you sure you're not commenting on the wrong topic? Quote

PenPlays Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 (edited) Got a hold of Flyer beast and Rocka stealth machine, now that the whole line is in stores i consider getting another one of the sets, but I am not sure which yet. Ah ding ding ding, we have our first troll of the forum If he's like me he opens up both the Mixels thread and The HF thread at the same time. Being that so many of the people form one thread comment on the other, it's really, really, REALLY easy to get confused on which on is which, especially if you don't pay attention to the title. Easy mistake to make, and in no way a troll. If it were completely unrelated to a Constraction figure set, or an "1n ma1 0n1st 0pn10n," then yes, it would have been a troll. Back on topic. I find myself needing to buy a collection of three every time I see the Mixels on the shelves (only have the Infernites at the moment), but I'm in dire need to save my money for a Lego convention this weekend. Money constraints... Edited March 3, 2014 by Penkid11 Quote
Diamond_Sun Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 I got all of the Infernite tribe today. Very nice! However, to buy in bulk for the pieces, it can get tough. $4.99 is a bit high for the content of each set. The Nixels look like cats. Quote

The Mixels have the best price-per-piece ratio we have seen from LEGO in a while. They could have made them a dollar less, but you get what you get. And yes, I do get a cat vibe from those Nixels! It's the ears, isn't it? Quote
Kalhiki Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 I see rabbits more-so than I do cats. Either way. I love those Nixels. Quote
Bfahome Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 Has there been any indication of a mold with one of the mini socket joints attached to a plus rod or other TECHNIC connector like the preexisting mini ball joints? Or are they only going to have stud attachments? Quote

Mesonak Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 (edited) Finally completed my Infernite collection yesterday; these things are fantastic. They have a lot of personality, and I can't say I dislike any of them. -Out of the three, Zorch definitely has the most posability so I love that about him (and his face is amazing, especially the eyebrows). -Flain is probably the most elaborate but the overly large (although absolutely genius) nature of the head and short stature of his torso and legs make him my least favorite. He's still great, though! -Vulk is probably my favorite; he's overall well designs and the design of his claws and head are simply great. -The MAX figure is also pretty fantastic. It combines the best traits from all of them into one great package. I love the super-posable arms. The Cragsters and Electroids don't really interest me too much, but I think I may return to the world of Mixels with the purple magic tribe in Series 3. Very impressed by this line. :D Edited March 4, 2014 by Mesonak Quote
Front Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 The Mixels seems to cost 50 % more than a collectable minifigure. Is that the case in you area too ? I think it's a real bargain compared to a lot of other LEGO products. Erland Part Design Quote
SpiderSpaceman Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 Bfahome, I almost got really excited about the "creative ambush" set because I thought the kebab stand boosters were attached with what you're describing but.. it turned out they were just old, Doc Ock arm-y, click hinges. Do we have a general "mix" sharing topic? (not discriminating murps from mixes) Cause I was thinking to start one or even kind of a set up with a lil rule like: mix the following from the 9 unique series one mixels: electroid*infernite electroid*cragster infernite*cragster electroid*infernite*cragster Which I did, and it was fun. BrickBuilder3213 Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 Does anyone know if the parts from these sets would be ideal for creating custom bigfigs? I'm thinking of getting the Infernites and the Cragsters to create a type of Lava Monster, similar to the big one in Power Miners. Quote
Aanchir Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 Does anyone know if the parts from these sets would be ideal for creating custom bigfigs? I'm thinking of getting the Infernites and the Cragsters to create a type of Lava Monster, similar to the big one in Power Miners. I don't know about "ideal"... it all depends on the desired outcome. The X-Men set coming out this summer uses Mixels joints, among other parts, to create a Sentinel. And for a robotic character like that, I suppose it works great. But suppose you wanted to create a cyclops, ogre, or some other creature that you wanted to have the same balance of organic and geometric shapes you might see for a LEGO minifigure or animal. Doing that with Mixels joints might not be any easier than doing it with a more Technic-based constraction system. Still, I suppose the Chima Legend Beasts do all right achieving that balance, so maybe it could be used for more humanoid creatures as well? I certainly look forward to trying it out once the parts are on LDD (I have some in real life from the Wolf Legend Beast, but it's easier to begin sketching out concepts on LDD when I don't know quite what parts I'll be using). So far, the best MAX I've seen is a MAX-MAX, built by LEGOJang. Pretty comical looking for a giant spider, and it has convinced me to pick some of these up. Which set (and, if there's a tie, which one with balljoint eyeballs?) has the greatest amount of the new joints? Quote

Which set (and, if there's a tie, which one with balljoint eyeballs?) has the greatest amount of the new joints? Vulk has eight parts with balls/ball cups, but two of them (http://brickset.com/parts/6051038) are not actually new, if that has any bearing on your decision. If you're specifically seeking the brand-new joint styles, Zorch and Seismo each have six. But if you want to get the most new joint pieces for your money, you're probably better off getting some of the Legend Beasts from Legends of Chima, which are twice the price of a Mixel. The Wolf Legend Beast and Lion Legend Beast each have eighteen of the new joint pieces, the Crocodile Legend Beast has ten, and the Eagle and Gorilla Legend Beasts each have eight. The Eagle Legend Beast is the only set to date which includes all four new joint molds. EDIT: Got my joint counts wrong for the Wolf and Lion Legend Beasts. Fixed now! Kalhiki Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 My current favorite is Krader. Fun, spiny waist, and giant hand. Plus he has a cool head/body design. (And he has a Nixel if that means anything to you...) Quote

CM4Sci Posted March 6, 2014 Author Posted March 6, 2014 Thanks for the suggestions! Though the Target I went to didn't have Mixels (getting groceries was the reason I went) so instead I got the Lion Legend Beast from Legends of Chima. -Sci Quote
