I like many shows that make no sense. The show is unfunny and derivative on top of not making sense.

Unfunny is a matter of perspective. I don't think all of the jokes are laugh-out-loud funny, but I definitely enjoyed some of them. And I'm sure other people might find them even funnier.

As for derivative, not sure where you're getting that. It's far from groundbreaking, but what does it seem derivative of? It is totally possible there's been another show that's a lot like it, but nothing I've seen comes to mind.

Like I said earlier, it's BIONICLE's, Pokemon's, and Digimon's child that has been raised on Adventure Time, FLCL, Cat soup, and all those other weird anime shows. (Trust me, I know.)

Yes, but when you have to list that many sources of inspiration, it's hard to call it derivative. You might as well throw Homestar Runner, The Muppets, Fraggle Rock, Neopets, and Skylanders into that same pot. Every franchise's ideas come from somewhere, so if drawing inspiration from this many sources were enough to establish that something is derivative, everything would get that label.

It's not like a story being derivative is something to be ashamed of, of course. Anything that tries to fit into an existing genre can be considered derivative, but that does not prevent it from being great at what it sets out to do, possibly even better than any attempt that came before. But with all its disparate sources of inspiration, Mixels isn't the kind of thing that stands out to me as "derivative", unlike things like "Pacific Rim" that are knowingly trying to draw from a singular genre or category.

So my series 1 Mixels collection is complete. Just got Volectro, Zorch, and Seismo the other day. All are really cute. I think Seismo is my favorite of the three. He's just such a grump.

As a cartoon series and characters as a whole, the Mixels does not interest me.

The characters are too goofy and Juvenile for me.

I do like the ball and joint pieces and the low price point which I can see myself buying Mixel sets to use in MOCs.

So apparently there are no Mixels anywhere around here. I'm gonna have to wait for my S@H order to arrive (another week UGH :( ).

It's probably just me, but based on episode Pothole and Murp it looks like any 2 mixels can have a mix and a murp. Murp specifically had Flain and Krader in 2 different forms, the flaming rock of a murp and the charging train of a mix. Pothole has Vulk and Zaptor forming the tri-eye powerhouse which cleared the area, while the "official" combination between the 2 is a single bulging eye squat thing.

Saying as such it looks like the number of combinations doubles

So now that I have all the Series 1 Mixels...

I went and combined them into one big figure (what I like to call a Mega-Max).

And now I really see the appeal of these figures. Combining the figures into something new. It's so much fun. Normally I don't take sets apart, but I can see myself doing this quite often with these guys.

I'll see if I can get pictures of my combo later. Maybe this weekend.

Krader and Vulk arrived today.

I loves them.

e: I like how Krader looks with the 1x1 round eye tiles.

He looks to flat and contained, I prefer him with the bulging eyes and emotive.

But least we know how he looks now, more power to ya

I picked up the three red Mixels for the brickset competition and they all look really cute. I think I need to buy all fo them, they are cheap and offer a great playability as well as a lot of building possibilities, not to say they are a great parts pack too. I think Vulk is my favorite but the rest are very very good.

Okay, that helicopter orange-blue thingy is pretty cool, even with those hilarious feet. The orange Max (that's presumption, but it looks too large to be a mix) and the purple one both look quite interesting, as does the tan one. The blue-brown one looks like a great wasp-esque monster. Actually, listing exactly why almost all of those are awesome would take too long, so let me just say that the second and third series look even better than the first.

It's hard to tell, but they may have shown 1 Max. One of the 3 complete tan ones probably. I'm leaning towards the second one, just based on pure size, the ones with the tails just don't look large enough

I don't get how people can even waste their money on those things when they're just lifeless cartoon abominations made for the sole purpose on aiming for children - and only children.

It's the same with people's obsession about "My Little Pony", just that said show is at least KIND OF written in a way that it would appeal to autists and other "LOLZRANDOM"-"Invader Zim"-girls... and boys.

well, let's just say because we like it? it's the same with those who like to collect stamps and coins. they're also lifeless things. but they have appeal to certain group of people. same with lego. and mixels too. we collected them because those thing somehow appeal to us.

And you are hopefully mature enough to respect other people's hobbies as long as they don't do harm to anybody. Personally, while I'm no fan of the TV series, I find most Mixels sets quite cute. Plus, they have many useful pieces. I just see nothing wrong with it.

They got decent pose-ability, they're cute, and they're great parts packs. Not to mention being inexpensive. Honestly, I don't see what's not to like about them.
