I don't get how people can even waste their money on those things when they're just lifeless cartoon abominations made for the sole purpose on aiming for children - and only children.

It's the same with people's obsession about "My Little Pony", just that said show is at least KIND OF written in a way that it would appeal to autists and other "LOLZRANDOM"-"Invader Zim"-girls... and boys.

You seem upset. Would you like to talk about it?

I don't see what autists have to do with this, so please refrain from that please.

And ofcourse you can dislike the mixels, but first of all Lego is a children's toy so of course it's aiming for children. And second, I don't see the appeal in the creations either, but as parts pack they can be extremely useful!

I shun all of Lego's recent TV series promoting the sets, just in honesty, not to be a jerk to the fans.

I witness a lot of people perceiving the sets as depicting the TV series, when really, the lifeless (opinion!) TV series are depicting the richly designed (fact!) sets. People will clamor for sets or figures based on things they saw in the show and I feel like that's totally backwards.

I'm most happy having nothing more to go on than the set itself, the background art, and the catalog blurb. That's what a Lego theme is to me.

Ninjago the show, for instance, doesn't capture the rich feel of Ninjago the Lego theme for me at all, and that's just the characters and settings. The unLego-ing of the vehicles just makes the great shapes and angles comprising the sets into bloated Veggie Tales-y balloon animals. The sets' comically heavy-metal skeleton vehicles all turned into this. (I'm sorry, Larrymobile. You know you're awesome.)

So the little Nixel faces betray the ties to cartoon graphics and the simultaneous development, but I mean, I like the TV Mixels as graphics. I'm cool with seeing that the sets and mixes can depict simple cartoon monsters - that's a tool to help you see that any little monster you wanna make can be realized with the same little shapes and pieces. Also I could dig them as a pack of stickers , or hey! a DK mixel encyclopedia/combo instruction companion book, with builds and cartoon depictions side by side. It's just the antics of the shorts that are nothing too great. However, while I personally don't have much use for the show, the propaganda and intentional oddness of the whole thing serves an important purpose: see my final paragraph.

Mixels are Lego sets. Not cartoon merchandise. And they are good at being lego sets because they have bright colors, interesting but simple and endlessly versatile shapes, joints aplenty, a smattering of special parts to inspire and challenge, including eyes and teeth to tie it all together into little monsters and animals.

And what's truly astoundingly special: Promoting rebuilding as a regular part of the play - "and they're walking over here and then they blow up and turn into this!" - without stepping outside of the "rules" of playing with the official little sets. Just inherently leading by example, the theme says these guys blow up and turn into bigger blendy monsters on a regular basis, that's their everyday life. It's anything goes and it's totally unpredictable. (That's your cue, kids and kids-at-heart! Your creations are just as valid as ours! Build as zany and dumb as you want, we started you off that way, so you literally can't go wrong!) And this heavily encouraged rebuilding is a fantastic experience because, duh, the figurines are made of LEGO.

Hey guys, my mums getting me some mixels today, and I wanted to know how to get the nixels. Do you have to get three in the same element? Or doesn't it matter? Thanks

Posted

if you want to get nixels, krader, teslo, and vulk comes with them. and this question don't need a separate topic like this actually. you can just ask on the mixels discussion topic.

Since bacem has answered your question I've merged this with the 2014 discussion topic.

On a related note I might go on the hunt for Mixels soon, I haven't yet looked for them but I'm curious if they have started appearing around here.

I just love those eyes, also that's good but I think you should do some work on the legs.

I don't know but I think you just take bacem word on it because he have them. ( I don't have them but I do hope I'll get some soon)

So I was at my local WHSmiths when I saw the Mixels. Flain was gone whilst the rest of the FT where there and the cragsters where there but, all the electroids had run out!

So I got my mixels on Tuesday. I bought seismo, zaptor and vulk, and can I just say, I am loving zaptor. He is such a cool design, and he is YELLOW

I know everyone's still settling in with the first batch, but how about a sneak peek at the second wave? Amazon Canada has some pictures available and I can post them on here if anyone's interested — unless the second wave has already been covered enough with footage and promotional imagery?

Most of the ones I've seen are clean renders of the shots you're probably seen before, but I did find at least one variation. This one's for 41515 Kraw:

Compare with the official look:

Thanks! Too bad he doesn't have any of the new ball joints... If you can share any more pictures, we'd be glad to see them! Most of the pictures we've seen were rather hard to see, in my opinion.

That image for Kraw is almost certainly the Flexer MAX. It's too large to be a single Mixel and uses parts from the other Flexers.

That's no variation...

That's the yet to be seen MAX form of the Flexers.

EDIT: From the look of it, it may look like a mix of Balk and Craw. However, neither of those Mixels contain enough of those 1x2 slopes on the feet of this MAX unless you add Tentro to the MIX...er...MAX...er... whatever. With Tentro, there is not only enough, but also, Tentro is the only Mixel of the Flexers that has the ball-joint eyes. It's quite nice to have a closer look!

We should keep an eye out for the Fang Gang and the Frosticon's MAXes as well.

Ah yes. My mistake.

Where did you find those images? I can't find the new Mixels on Amazon.ca...

They're around, but directly searching the database probably won't work. And then some, like the listing for Lunk, aren't complete.

An example:

http://www.amazon.ca/LEGO-Mixels-SLUMBO-41509-Building/dp/B00ITS4AUQ

Whereas searching for Slumbo won't produce any matches.

Here are some of the images I was able to find. I'm not including the package shots, but if anyone wants to see those posted too, let me know.

Slumbo looks kind of like an ice-elemental version of Shuff with Volectro's arms. Also, I mad a mix of Shuff with Volectro's arms and hair with Seismo's legs. I call him Mr. Stylish and like to imagine he has a voice similar to Strong Bad.

Currently, Slumbo and Flurr are my favorites of those, with the adorable Jawg being third due to it's adorable nature. It seems strange that all of these include so few of the new ball joints, though.

Jawg looks like my dog  !

If that's true Toby we expect a side by side comparison once he's released in June :P

in that picture, flurr's head looks possable. hopefully it's because additional mini ball joint on the neck and not just unrealistic packaging art.
