lord raphael Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 My fellow lego fans we must look on horror on these foul things! Mattel, who recently bought Canadian makers of Megabloks Mega Brands, has today announced that it has purchased a number of key LEGO fan sites in an effort increase sales of its products to adults. “We see expansion into the adult market as key to increasing sales across the board and to enable us to compete with LEGO in the construction toy category” explains Avril Prima, head of acquisitions at Mattel, “Purchasing the sites that adult construction toy fans visit and encouraging them to publish news, reviews and information about our products will, we believe, convert AFOLs to AFOMs.” The full interview is on this link.http://brickset.com/article/10745/mattel-acquires-key-adult-lego-fan-sites-to-convert-afols-to-afoms#comments . Ridge Montante Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 Well I guess I might as well sell all my Lego sets so I can have money to buy all the new Mega Bloks sets that are sure to come out. YAY! Can't wait. Quote
Palathadric Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 With all the new staff members in town, I wonder if Eurobricks has been acquired by somebody. Quote
1974 Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 Yes, Huw really over did this time. Suttleness (<- is that a word) is what you do in a nerdy community. He could perhaps have sold that info to major papers/news outlets, but that shlt don't fly here ;) Quote
HomerJSimpson Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 April fools! But that was a little obvious.. Quote
VBBN Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 I'm usually only caught by the first fool I see, after that I realize what day it is and kind of expect everything else- But even in this case that wasn't the most convincing trick I've seen, I think the article could have been worded a bit better if Huw really wanted to sound more serious about it. Of course it's hard to really convince someone of it when they look at the date, but still. With all the new staff members in town, I wonder if Eurobricks has been acquired by somebody. Some of us are still trying to hold our ground and fight them off, but their numbers are too many! Quote
