From the TGV up to my three fat old ladies steam Part I

Hello Lego community,

English is not my native language, but I want you to meet my three fat old ladies steam. But wait in turn.

First, I have the Horizon Express Lego - Set Number: 10233 completed. I call him TGV he stood since May 2013 for dining room, waiting for its completion. Like many others, I have extended the drive wagons and each wagon to eight knobs. And the Jakobs bogies slightly modified. Now to the actual topic of steam locomotives. My second "job site" next to the Horizon Express was the Emerald Night Lego - Set No. 10194th Of these, two were in the basement on my desk. There they dusty since the summer of 2011. The Emerald Night is a not so much beloved project. I think it shows. Dark green is very limited shade, and ........... not really succeeded in combination with black. Thanks to the chassis, the Teddy BR 01 is similar to that comes the

Emerald but well over course and also by Lego standard curves. The drive motors are installed in the boiler. I just have to find a place for current collectors. A video will follow.

Wow! Some very cool trains for sure! The TGV is my favorite of the two. High speed trains are incredibly invigorating and promising as well as entertaining.

Your TGV's remind me of riding that train in the utterly gorgeous French countryside full of blooming lavender during May and the instant blur of another TGV passing in the opposite direction. It is a startling feeling when you realize that the combined passing speed could be 500 mph. Before riding that train, the fastest I had travelled on land was 120 on the rear of a boyfriend's BMW cycle, when I was quite young and extremely dumb. Even the little Cessna 150's I used to fly became airborne at 55 mph or so. The speed at which the TGV passes entire villages just blows me away.

Folks in the US have to travel to Japan or Europe to ride such fast trains. (I would not ride the ones in China except from the airport into Shanghai, which seemed safe over a short distance.) The quality of our train tracks will never meet the requirement of such high speed trains.

If you want to view some other inspiring train designs, go to the kato.com website or visit their store/museum in Tokyo. We spent a Sunday morning there in 2009 and left with eight N scale trains in large bags we carried home on the plane. The first high speed one I rode was the Shinkansen from Tokyo to Kyoto as a college student in 1973. They still amaze me.

Amtrak tries to go a little faster than I can drive, but they usually end up smashing into a car or truck at every other intersection it seems. Hubby once spent 18 hours parked in a FL orange grove without power or AC after his train hit something.

I don't think that Acela is very high speed.

Seriously the condition of the tracks in this country really stinks. "High speed train" means over 30 MPH in most cases. It is quite sad because many of us would like to ride Amtrak, but they are not reliable for the most part.

Those are some great details in the cab of the reworked EN. The steam valves are very simple yet very effective.

if speed so fascinated you should holiday in Germany make. The German high-speed train is the ICE. He reached the passengers with a top speed of over 300 km / h are 186.41 mph And of Cologne you can take the TGV to Paris.

In many parts of the German " Autobahn " you can drive as fast as you want or the car may, silky traffic rules limit you.

Nice MODs. The TGV looks really great with that extra length. A simple but very effective MOD.
