Palathadric Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 (edited) I ponder Hybros' words. Strange that a demon speaks of an archdemon in such a manner. Perhaps the demonic factions are at war with one another. Is that disunity caused by the power of the light, or is it that the darkness is so strong in Eubric these days that the demons feel the need to squabble with one another, thinking they have no one else to fight? Perhaps I need to pay a visit to the Priests of Ennoc and see how they view the spread of the light in this modern age. "So," I say, turning fully to Hybros, "you would lead us to the very lair of this archdemon?" Suddenly I pause, suspicion of a trap suddenly falling on me. "Huh?" is all I end up muttering in closing, pondering the concept and scrutinizing Hybros intensely. Edited May 11, 2014 by Palathadric
CMP Posted May 11, 2014 Author Posted May 11, 2014 "And if I remember correctly... the elves of the island of Moone resided in the Kingdom of Mercution before it sunk. Perhaps this moon carving has something to do with that. I am not sure. But if I am correct in connecting this underground city with the one I encountered before... I think this all has to do with demons of Zoot, as the now-sunken city serves as a temple for the demon-god... and it is there we must go." "Interesting. I know of the story and its effects on us today...but I did not imagine it still existed today." "Underground? Wait a moment..." The Baron scratched his beard. "We live next door to an archdemon? Well, this...this won't do at all. We've been here for two hundred years, we're sure as hell not abandoning our home now." He looked over at the heroes, nodding at Pretzel. "You remember the Wolfgangers you evicted? I had the tunnel searched. There were no surface entrances, so I assumed it was safe, but....Rodney told me of a hole in the end of the tunnel. It looked like the Wolfgangers had been mining and found something they didn't want to. They had boarded it over, but I was told there was some sort of window behind it...edged with black stone." Soryx listened to the Baron intently, and nodded. "Boards we can break. Demons we can slay. Now we have a direction to go in." "Of course...I had best stay here. If this is where they're coming from, I doubt they could get past you in any event. Please, if you find any of my citizens, keep them safe." "Just give the word when you are ready to move, heroes."
Palathadric Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 (edited) "Certainly, Baron, I will do all within my power to ensure the safety of your village. You really should be getting that Transportapple that I sent you sometime soon though. It should at least ensure that you and Moke get to a safer place. I will do my utmost to ensure that all the villagers are able to return to their homes and we surely destroy the archdemon." So saying, I turn to go, but tug Soryx closer as I do so, "Keep an eye out on that little de...being. I don't trust him well enough to let him lead me into a demon's cave without my eyes both at the front and back of my head, if you catch my drift. Let's hope it's not an evil trap of some kind." I then pull Em in, "Listen, you're the most natural looking fellow in our company, keep an eye on that machine. I don't want him doing any funny business. He may be our party leader and not appear to be the most two-faced, but looks can be deceiving. If you detect any strange activity, report it immediately. Edited May 11, 2014 by Palathadric
JimBee Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 Hybros nods. "I am ready to go, to Zoot's Temple or wherever this journey may take us. There is a dragon somewhere down here beneath the Hovels, but I do not think he will bother us if we identify ourselves as heroes of Heroica."
Emjajoas Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 Em frowns slightly, nodding to Pretzel. "Jeaux has my trust, but if it will allay your concerns... Both eyes will be peeled." He distances himself, ready to go; "Natural?" he mutters under his breath, shaking his head.
joeshmoe554 Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 "If everyone is ready, then lets move on to the temple."
CMP Posted May 12, 2014 Author Posted May 12, 2014 (edited) The Baron led the heroes out into the heart of Zylstra, then pointed them down the only other passage touching the city. This tunnel remained watery until about halfway through. The stone on the walls seemed to become exponentially darker and growth-ridden, a sure sign that this was by far the oldest part of the sewers they had gone through yet. They halted at the end of the passageway. Two open walls stood before them; one matching the others and having been busted down relatively recently. The other one, behind it....black as the void, and untouched, a soft silver glow emanating from within, lighting the otherwise dim sewer. The edges didn't appear to be marked by any tool, and the shape was an almost perfect oval. It resembled more a window than anything. Soryx regarded it in contemplative silence. The only question was, who would enter first? Edited May 12, 2014 by CallMePie
Palathadric Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 I cast a woeful glance at Soryx and Em, before stepping as confidently as I can manage, forward. I remove the Magic Viper Skin as well as the Counterstrike Gloves and apply the Heavy Armour and Strategist Shako to my body. I then examine the area for traps.
Emjajoas Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 Em clicks his teeth, striding towards the window. He inspects it, reaching a hand out to touch it. He hesitates, though only for a second, before poking at the dark window, trying to reach his left hand inside.

He inspects it, reaching a hand out to touch it. He hesitates, though only for a second, before poking at the dark window, trying to reach his left hand inside. There was no glass in the window, only an oppressing void that seemed to consume Em's hand as he pressed it inward. From here, he could see the pinpoint shaft of light that descended from far up inside what looked to be some kind of tower, and slid downward until reaching a solitary point where it expanded to create the eerie glow the heroes saw now. The drop down to the floor didn't seem to be too far, but the details of what lies down there are too murky to make out. Edited May 12, 2014 by CallMePie
Emjajoas Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 Em frowns, removing his left hand from the window and clasping it within his right. Shivers shot up his spine. "This path looks... final. We ought to check the other first."

Emjajoas Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 Em sighs, peeking into the window once again, before shrugging. "Shall we go, then?"
joeshmoe554 Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 "It doesn't look there are many other options. Let's head inside and take a closer look at the problem." Jeaux heads through the gap in the wall

From here, the light from what he could now tell was a suspended gem being shot through with the shaft of light brightened the area enough to see. A strange sight was set before his eyes. joeshmoe554 Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 OOC: Lightsabers!!! Sorry got distracted for a moment. "I haven't yet asked any questions, I would ask why you are so reluctant to speak to me but I guess I already have your answer." Jeaux walks over the glowing swords to take a closer look at them
JimBee Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 Hybros nods. "No sense in waiting around, eheh..." Without further thought, he draws Zoot's Reaper and enters the void. OOC: Assuming Hybros ends up in the same place as Jeaux... "Wally, is that you? Do not fear, it is Hybros, and heroes of Heroica. What has happened?"
Palathadric Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 (edited) I hop onto my Flying Cross and head into the light, allowing myself to drop a bit to whichever level Jeaux had fallen, keeping my Telescope pinned on him. Edited May 13, 2014 by Palathadric

Jeaux walks over the glowing swords to take a closer look at them These aren't as cool, sorry. "...Wait, you're not one of them? Oh, man, you scared the hell out of me....what're you doing down here? Who are you?" There are three weapons on the rack in the corner, and another on the desk. They're made of a strange material, an iridescent glow resembling the moon emanating from the blade of each, some dimmer and brighter than others. Two different numbers are inscribed on each, and all of them seem to be immensely old and brittle, though still sharp. Ancient Starbeam Dagger (WP: 12, damages undead, double WP from dusk until dawn, breaks after one use, throwing weapon) Cracked Starbeam Dagger (WP: 10, damages undead, double WP from dusk until dawn, breaks after one use, throwing weapon) Archaic Starbeam Blade (WP: 15, damages undead, double WP from dusk until dawn, breaks after one use, longsword) Aging Starbeam Blade (WP: 9, damages undead, double WP from dusk until dawn, breaks after one use, longsword) "Wally, is that you? Do not fear, it is Hybros, and heroes of Heroica. What has happened?" Hybros lands pretty easily. Wally shakes his head, as if making sure it's not some hallucination. "Hybro? Jeez, you guys must really like getting ankle deep in shit like this...those things took me from Zylstra. They've been trying to get me to tell them who leads us. I guess that's the Baron....and I guess he's the one who's hired you? Old man knows who to call to get things done, I guess. They locked me in this...this golden thing." Wally wriggles in the narrow black chain wrapped around his legs and snaking down into the golden sphere. "They have, like, everyone else, but they're deeper in this tower." Palathadric Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 I suppose I've gotten down as well. "Wally, good to see you again. Yes, we were hired by the baron, indeed, and we're most definitely here to rescue you all. How are you holding up? How long have you been here already?" I inspect the Golden Sphere and the chain with my Magnifying Glass, searching for traps or an alarm system that would go off, whilst also checking if the chains would be easily breakable.
JimBee Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 OOC: Pie, are you sure you wanted to description to say double WP during the day? I would assume it'd be that for night. "Jeaux, perhaps those daggers would be best put in my hands, eheh." "Wally, who has taken you here? Are they like any mortal creatures you have seen before? Is anyone else down here besides the gnomes? Where are we?"
Palathadric Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 "Wally, who has taken you here? Are they like any mortal creatures you have seen before? Is anyone else down here besides the gnomes? It's not like we're writing the questions down for him or like he can just reply to them one at a time while making it clear which question he's answering when."

"Now is not the time for arguments, Monk." He waved his hand. "How do you know Wally anyway?" He also tries to look at the numbers inscribed on the weapons.
Emjajoas Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 Em listens silently to the conversation, keeping a careful eye on their surroundings, bow in hand.

"Three weeks. I'm fine, they feed me and stuff and it's not like they've been torturing me." The sphere looked to be able to open, but just why and how it was meant to do so is unclear. The chain was made of unknown material and seemed to be locked within the sphere. OOC: Pie, are you sure you wanted to description to say double WP during the day? "These weird shade creatures took me down here. Everyone else was unconscious when they dragged them down here, but I have no idea what they're planning to do. Damn, I hope mom and Eve are okay...." He also tries to look at the numbers inscribed on the weapons. In the order they were picked up, the numbers inscribed were 154, 154; 287, 124; 310, 155; and 82, 45.
