Fives Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 (edited) Hello everyone! So I didn't see this news anywhere on the site and decided I should bring it to the attention of the forum. Citizen Brick has released a new series of 12 Game of Thrones inspired Minifigs. Seeing as they can't call them by their official character names, the series is under the name Dragon Sword Fighter Force. You can buy the whole lot for $220, or three for $55. Sure, it's a pretty steep price, but given the detail put into the figs, and the fact that this is likely the closest we'll ever get to official Game of Thrones LEGO, I'd say it's not too bad. http://citizenbrick.myshopify.com/products/dragon-sword-fighter-force-complete-series-plus-bonus-minifig The characters included are: Khal Drogo, Danaerys Targaryan, Melisandre (sold in a package of three), Joffrey Baratheon, Tyrion Lannister, Varys (sold in a package of three), Jon Snow, Ygritte, a White Walker (sold in a package of three), and finally Jaime Lannister, Arya Stark, and Brienne of Tarth (sold in a package of three). Given the fact that the new season of Game of Thrones has just started, the timing of this release couldn't be better. I know I'm gonna start scrounging up every loose penny I can find to get my hands on the beautiful figs. I also desperately hope that Citizen Brick plans on doing this Game of Thrones minifig series thing like LEGO's CMF series. There are so many characters to choose from, and enough fans and collectors who'd definitely want these masterpieces gracing their shelves or dioramas. Edited April 8, 2014 by Fives Quote
kinggregus Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 Wow, these figures are so recognizable. I am impressed. $220 is a very steep price though. That being said, I do not know what the typical price for a custom figure is. Would you know if they are made our of real LEGO or forged in their own plastic? Quote
deskp Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 Hmm, I don't think they did a good job making them look like lego designs. Looks weird and inconsistent even within their figs. At that price Thats a huge issue. Quote
Fives Posted April 8, 2014 Author Posted April 8, 2014 Hmm, I don't think they did a good job making them look like lego designs. Looks weird and inconsistent even within their figs. At that price Thats a huge issue. I kinda see what you mean. But at the same time, it's not an issue, at least for me. They may not fit in perfectly with official figs, but I feel that the overall detail makes up for that. I'm really looking to treat these like shelf pieces rather than anything else. Quote
Brickadiergerard Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 I think these are pretty impressive customs. All of the are instantly recognisable, and there's some lovely patterned printing on display. I agree they have a slightly different facial look to most lego figs - closest I can think of is Indy. I suppose $20 or so per figure doesn't seem so very unreasonable - I bet the Tyrion and White Walker-like figures would fly off the brickshelf if they were sold individually for that price - but $220 for the lot, that's kind of daunting, even for keen fans of Dragon Sword Fighter Force like me. Cara Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 I thought they were instantly recognizable. Cersai's dress and the difference between the colour top and bottom bothers me. I am guessing its a different colour brick below the printing on each. I like them but they are way out of my price range. Quote
Legoman123 Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 I love them. I am so tempted to buy them as I know Lego aren't going to release them officially. Quote
large88 Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 I thought they were instantly recognizable. Cersai's dress and the difference between the colour top and bottom bothers me. That would be Melisandre not Cersei... So you instantly recognized that wrong Quote
Cara Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 That would be Melisandre not Cersei... They both wear red dresses yet Melisandre does wear a scarf over her head... so I guess I agree with you. They aren't instantly recognizable Quote
TheLegoDr Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 I have yet to see the show, but I definitely want to. I'm waiting until Netflix has it on streaming. With that said, the figures do look good. I like the detail, although sometimes a minifigure can have too much detail and not look suitable with other figures (think classic 90s with today's figures). I like the white walker? I assume it is. I could see building an army of them, although not at that price. And I like the Peter Dinklage minifigure. From what I've seen they have good quality products, it's just really expensive to be able to produce that quality for the smaller time business model. Quote
Blakstone Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 Very nice. It is not that I have not spent that much money on LEGO before, I bought the Orthanc this month and wanting it for so long. I just cannot justify spending it on 13 minifigures. These look so much like Game of Thrones characters that I doubt even omitting their official names will slow down the lawsuit. After all, any 12 people that have seen the show would all agree that that is what these are. They even include a George R R Martin minifig if you buy the rest of them. Quote
PlzStopImScared Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 Well they look nice and a lot like the real characters, but $220.... Quote
kabel Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 More Lannisters than Starks? Not my cup of tea! Quote
Wardancer Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 IMHO they look really good, but to me most usages of cloth besides the regular cape looks a bit non-lego. The ice-zombie looks tempting, but nowadays there are so many chima-frozen-halfdead animals that I do not need it. Quote
Godless-Mimicry Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 Incredibly well done, however, your Jamie has one hand too many Quote
The-Daryl Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 Incredibly well done, however, your Jamie has one hand too many Hmm do they make the hand piece in pearl gold? hehe These are pretty neat, although on the expensive side (imo). It is very odd to me all the attention to details in the printing and the parts selection, then not having Drogo be nougat (I think that's the name of the color?). Aside from that, they seem well done and something some die hard fans will probably have to have. Quote
Captain Nemo Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 I have yet to see the show, but I definitely want to. I'm waiting until Netflix has it on streaming. You'll be waiting forever. Game of Thrones is from HBO, so it will never be on anything other than HBO or DVDs etc. If it means anything, it is very much worth the buy! Anyways, I saw these on Flickr a few days ago. I think they're very nice, but I do agree some of them are too non-Lego like; personally I don't ever want to buy custom figures that look like something Lego would not produce (I've bought various custom figs, and always ones that look Lego-ish). I agree it's also too expensive, but...that George RR Martin fig is spectacular! Quote
SirBlake Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 Love the idea. Like the execution. Confounded by the price. Quote
Fives Posted April 10, 2014 Author Posted April 10, 2014 I truly believe that this could become a very popular and lucrative project if Citizen Brick had a cheaper way of producing figs. With a reduced price (I'd easily pay $30 for 3 figs), they could make this a CMF style line, and introduce 12 new characters every 6 months or so. I've even taken some time to come up with potential future 3 packs: Jorah Mormont, Daario Naharis, Grey Worm (Dany's servants) The Hound, Loras Tyrell, Bronn (Knights of King's Landing) Cersei, Tywin, Littlefinger (Council members) Hodor, Bran, Rickon/Osha (Bran and friends) Sansa, Margaery Tyrell, Shae (Ladies of King's Landing) Stannis, Renly, Robert (Baratheon Bros) Catelyn, Robb, Ned (Unfortunate Starks) Samwell, Jeor Mormont, Tormund (Wall themed guys) Oberyn Martell, The Mountain, Ilyria Sand (Season 4 King's Landing) Theon, Yara, Ramsay (Greyjoys and captain crazy) So yeah, those are just some ideas I have. Theres plenty more characters that could be introduced, but I just thought of the ones that would likely be most popular. Quote
Blakstone Posted April 13, 2014 Posted April 13, 2014 If they could find a way to get the price to $10 a fig like you suggest Fives, I would likely buy a few sets. I never bought customs but they did a good job on these. I cannot fathom why their prices are that high. I like your proposed expansion ideas as well. IF it was a choice between Osha or Rickon, I pick Osha. I doubt you could make Rickon more distinctive than her. Quote
Balthazar Posted April 13, 2014 Posted April 13, 2014 I`d like to buy it, but the price.. I think it is too high Quote
Elrond Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Would you know if they are made our of real LEGO or forged in their own plastic? They are made out of real LEGO parts and they are printed. They also make some WW2 bodyparts. I've ordered some from them and I'd say they are probably the best on the market, they really look like the real deal. Quote
igacreative Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 As a GOT fan, I really love all of these minifigs! Fantastic! Quote
