As a kid, browsing catalogs I was always in awe of set 8485 Control Centre II (1995)

The T-Rex was just a very unique model to see in an official set at the time.

On a more serious note, I don't mind what sets they release - I'm more interested in new parts and building techniques, especially since I'm hopeless at coming up with any of my own.

Ladies and gentlemen, please do not get me wrong; @Idrissince you are relatively new member I want to point you also that there is already topic that could be used for this matter

I do not want to sound or even act to be (just example) @Jim, but IMHO we should first look more detailed on Eurobricks to see if our question fits in some topic instead of starting new one which happened to be a kind of subtopic...

Regards to you all

Agree with this: these sets lasted for longer to play with do more models experiment modifying them and show the possibilities that from a parts pack you can do whatever you imagine

I would really like to see more "multi-sets": sets with a focus on the different possibilities of Lego instead of the focus on a fancy A-model and a B-model that is a variation of the first. With these examples it will be clear what I mean:

8064-1.jpg

Is 8485 the last one of these kinds of sets?

Bonus points for every non vehicle. Not that I don't like vehicles, it just gives the wrong impression that this is the only thing you can make with Technic.

Maybe I'm being a little old fashioned here but I'd love to see LEGO make some kind of Scammell truck. Something like the Scammell Explorer below.

+1 for a Scammell, took my Class One in a Scammell Crusader, more years ago than i care to mention.

Glad to see other people on here that appreciate the older vehicles, the type of vehicles that actively wanted to chop your fingers and thumbs off. Damn kids these days and their OTT safe glorified milk-floats like these Tesla things...made by the same person who's rockets blow-up even time they launch or land....on a moving badge of all places....Ka-BOOM-X strikes again.

I've always want to have a go in a Scammell, they were awesome trucks. I might have to do a LEGO version one day. Whether a Crusader, Explorer or a Pioneer. These older vehicles and things like the Reliant Robin are what really teaches you how to drive a vehicle. Nowadays there's far too much electronic nannying in the way. Anyways, back to topic......

A Mammoet SPMT

+1 for a SPMT and +1 for a Mammoet model even if its not a SPMT, they are a cool company. My cousin's husband works for Mammoet.

I would personally love to see some kind of dinosaur, dragon, or other type of creature set similar to https://brickset.com/sets/4958-1/Monster-Dino or the dinosaur model from https://brickset.com/sets/8485-1/Control-Centre-II, but with a more advanced building level and more varied and refined functions (probably using Technic Control+).

As much as I love many of the ways Technic has evolved over the years, and understand why many of the "weirder" sets and subthemes from my childhood in the late 90s and early 2000s are unpopular with many AFOLs, there's something about articulated robot and creature models that's much more exciting to me than vehicles. That's one of the things that drew me to themes/subthemes like Mindstorms, Throwbots, Cyber-Slam, and Bionicle shortly after I first started buying LEGO Technic.

Maybe it's that there's more fantasy appeal to seeing something that's NOT a machine in real life represented as one, or my general fascination with nature and how human and animal bodies work, or just that I prefer functions that involve dynamic movement on the outside and not just on the inside. Not to diminish my admiration for the types of elaborate gear shift and steering functions that show up in many Technic models, but I think a model that "walks" will always be more exciting to me than one that rolls!

While as a child I never fulfilled my insanely ambitious dream of making a fully articulated, life size humanoid Mindstorms robot (and probably couldn't manage to do so even today, seeing as neither mechanical engineering nor programming has ever been my strong suit), there's still a part of me that would love to see LEGO dabble in more of this type of lifeform-inspired build in their more function-heavy themes.

Another possibility that I would find just as exciting would be a Technic model inspired by either Robonaut 2 or Valkyrie (R5), which I'm happy to see have inspired a minifigure in this year's City sets! More info on these robots here: https://www.nasa.gov/sites/default/files/atoms/files/fs_space_robotics_150908.pdf

I would like to see more Technic functions in Technic sets. Why did LEGO limit 42096 to only the most basic of functionality? How about adding air jacks? They do not have to be pneumatic - any form of lifting technique would work. Working door handles and a windscreen wiper that turns the correct way would also be nice icing on the cake. detail such as a functional LSD would elevate the set enormously.

I would also like to see even more care when it comes to engine detailing. The Mack and Corvette gave us this new piston system which is lovely. However. How about including camshafts or just timing chains? A real boxer engine, that is, with pistons that move opposite each other, would be nice to see as well.

Functions do not always have to be big and showy. Technic should focus more on the details. In my view, at least.

What about a cement mixer or concrete pumper truck, neither of which has been done in Technic (and the latter has never been done by LEGO at all)

This, or a Nooteboom Mega Windmill Transporter. Kinda like what @efferman is working on (good job btw dude). As far as I’m concerned any other answer here is wrong

Anything with small 11L and medium 7L pneumatic cylinders please. I hope LEGO hasn't forgotten about these parts. Even another reissue of the 8439/8459/8464 front end loader would be an instant purchase from me.
