Endgame Posted May 26, 2014 Author Posted May 26, 2014 "...You've made your choice." The Giant winds up his other arm, weidling his massive spear. With one swift motion, the party can hear the Dauntlets holding up the elvator getting sliced in two, some of their remains falling into the cage-like elevator. With a little bit of hesitation the giant lets go of the severed elevator... The party quickly grips the bars of the cage, the group beginning their plunge into absolute darkness. The heroes could only watch in despair as they fell, the light of the The Giant's eye soon fading into nothing. After what seems to be an eternity, the elevator collides with the ground below, and the heroes are thrown out in an unconsious pile. -------------------------------------------------------------- When the heroes come to, every bone in their body was aching. They were all thrown across the room, the elvator shattering and tossing out is occupants upon impact. Arthur and Erdathcath fell into a single pile, the two heroes practically curshing eachother - Grimwald had been thrown against the wall, likely because of his lighter weight. The Minoid seemed to be faring alright, retaching the severed parts of its body strewen across the dismal basement. The air was thick and heavy, the entire place smelling of rot. the stones surrounding them were weathered and old, seeming thousands of years old. At the other end of the room was a lone door. The Minoid speaks, putting his arm back into its socket. "CURRENT ELEVATION: 1280.16 meters / 4200 feet under. STATEMENT: You do not look well. You were unconscious for about 62 minutes." The most prominet feature was the huge glass display case, the contents partially obscured by the cloudy glass. A piece of paper covered with wirting seems to be stuck onto it, the paper getting caught onto a break in the glass. An odd pedestal sits in the middle of the room, seemingly empty. The floor is covered in an odd, writhing moss, making the floor look like its alive. An object with an odd glint sits on the floor near the pedestal. The party is faced with two doors, as well. One emits some soft moaning and groaning... the other, silence. Quote

Endgame Posted May 27, 2014 Author Posted May 27, 2014 (edited) Arthur cautiously examines the paper with his Magnifying Glass, being careful not to touch anything else. With the aid of the magnifying glass, Arthur can see everything clearly - it seemed to be a page from a journal, one of several thousand. "I have been betrayed. Completely and utterly betrayed. By everything and everyone - my wife, gone. She saw what I did... How I had mutilated the very essence of my being. She can't look at me now. Not anymore. She regards me as an abomination. A freak of nature, a defiled corpse of her beloved Prometheus. I... can't say whtehr or not she is wrong yet. I really, truly, can't. My children. The very species I was responsible for creating. They have left me. They have deserted their own greatest ancestor, the one being who gave them life... It's brutal, perhaps moreso than losing Primii's love. I see them struggle and toil every day under our tyrannical slavemasters. I see them getting whipped, beaten, abused. I can watch them turn on eachother, almost tearing eachother limb from limb for another morsel of food. But worst of all, I've seen them take their own lives. They get worked into desperation and despair by our slavemasters... They saw no other way out. They would drown or starve themselves, subjecting themselves to slow and painful deaths, all so they could avoid the harsh whip the next day. And I can't intervene. I'd only make it worse. One look at the sad shell I was, and they'd hurry to the nearest noose. I can no longer ease their suffering, or help them. My sons and daughters are without a father, and I am without them. My mind has betrayed me. My emotions are a tangled heap, a choatic mess of feelings. I've found myself to be borderline sociopathic as of late. I've been able to feign any emotion almost perfectly, masking my true ones under a bitter facade to reap what tiny pleasure I can get out of my twisted existence. I... can no longer tell what emotions are real and what are not. They're all fake to me now. Just tools. Lies? I can fabricate them instantly, and tell them effortlessly. Cruelty? No longer beyond my standards. Masks I put on to achieve goals, to fulfill what desires I have left. And all for what? For what? Freedom is nowhere in sight. My own mind is trapped in endless havoc, a mishmash of false emotions. I have nothing. Nothing but power I never wanted, and the darkness that grows in my heart. Is... Is Prometheus truly dead? Were they all right?" He then wanders over to the glass cabinet, and attempts to make out what was inside. Inside the glass case was massive, murderous weapons, several times the size and weight of anythng a human could hold or wield. Edited May 27, 2014 by Endgame Quote
Flipz Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Arthur takes the note. "Whoever this being is, it sounds like he gave up his humanity for the sake of...freedom, I suppose? Whoever he is, he sound a lot like...well, me." He takes another look at the note. "Like I said before, my death, if it ever comes, will be a blessing." Arthur scans the pedestal and mirror(?) with his Magnifying Glass. Quote
Endgame Posted May 27, 2014 Author Posted May 27, 2014 After folding up the journal page and putting it into his pocket, Arthur inspects the mirror and pedestal. Neither appeared to be boobytrapped. The pedestal appears to be capable of holding mirrors, with a rather specifically made slot for them. The mirror has a similarly intricate base. Double Mirror: Due to the mirror's design, when slotted into a pedestal, this mirror will always face both Northwest and Southeast. What can this be used for? Quote
The_Customizer Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 "Perhaps these mirrors are used to reflect a light beam in a certain direction?" Quote
Flipz Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Arthur attempts to determine which way is North relative to the picture. Quote
Endgame Posted May 27, 2014 Author Posted May 27, 2014 The door on the left would lead the party Northward if they were to walk through it, and the door on the right Eastward. Quote
Flipz Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 (edited) OOC: Which direction leads back the way we came? And which direction is the moaning coming from? Arthur ponders the pedestal and mirror, but the moaning distracts him. "C'mon, gang. We're going to investigate that moaning--quietly." Putting the mirror in his pack, he stealthily leads the party forward. Edited May 27, 2014 by Flipz Quote
Endgame Posted May 28, 2014 Author Posted May 28, 2014 (edited) To go back the direction of the elvator crash, they would have to travel West. Having their directions deduced, the party goes right, gooing Eastward into the source of the moaning. As the party hurries into another dank corridor, the heroes soon lay their eyes upon what was the source of the moaning. Four humans were trapped in a row of fiendish looking devices, metal teeth ouging into their ghostly skin. Purplish veins poke through the cold, white exterior, their entire body littered with injuries and bruises. Stitches line them like seams, their entire bodies seemingly torn to pieces and reassembled. There was a door out of this hellish prison, going North. On the other side of the room sat an odd device - a carving of an eye, with a dimaond placed in the middle. A lever sits below it, presumably controlling the device. However, despite their best attempts, the party is unable to avoid the poor souls' gazers for long. They make eye contact, the party wincing as they write in their containers. They speak, their voice horse and raspy. "...Life... Are you... Life?" "No... You're not. You can't be... There hasn't been life in... No. You're..." "Humans don't wander here...
