Endgame Posted June 15, 2014 Author Posted June 15, 2014 (edited) "STATEMENT: It is good to see you are no longer Cliff, Grimwald. You have returned to your former self." Lynne intervenes. "Please, Erdathcath, you have to take the antidote... I lived a lie for two thousand years. Two milleniums. Please, don't force yourself into my situation... You can't go on like this!" "Before long, the immersion will overtake you entirely. You'll think this world is the world of the story. You'll hunt down people who don't exist, you'll believe in events that never happened - your mind will be trapped in a land of fiction. Please, take the antidote - or, as Lynne said, you may condemn yourelf into living a lie for the rest of your life." Edited June 15, 2014 by Endgame Quote
The_Customizer Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 (edited) Claire feels the tendrils being pushed into her mouth, slowly, she gives in, eating the tendril.... Suddenly a vicious fire spreads throughout her body, she screams out in agony as Erdathcath slowly takes over her body once again. Writhing back and forth, until finally she stops moving at all, and all fades to black. Edited June 15, 2014 by The_Customizer Quote
Endgame Posted June 15, 2014 Author Posted June 15, 2014 The Minoid goes over the the druid's side, walking faster than normal. "QUERY: Erdathcath, are you well...? Erdathcath?" Quote
The_Customizer Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 As the remnants of Claire start to fade away, a soft voice cries out "I don't want to go!" Then Erdathcath awakens, opens her eyes and looks around at the strange place she was in... "Where... where am I?" Noticing everyone staring at her oddly, she asks, "I really hope no one kissed me." Standing to her feet, though a bit wobbly, she slowly regains her composure. "So, what exactly did I miss?" Quote
Endgame Posted June 15, 2014 Author Posted June 15, 2014 (edited) "Your lips made physical contact with no one else's. SYNOPSIS: You had yourself indoctrinated into a character named "Claire" in exchange for information. While your new personality was beginning to dominate your old, we had progressed through the basement. We have managed to save on of the Devils and escape the basement. We are currently in The Regret's library, and are likely nearing the final confrontation." "Speaking of Devils and indoctrination... Lynne?" "Yes?" "Are you ready for your partial immersion?" "I... believe I am." "Very well then." The Bookmark pulls out the same book her presented to Erdathcath. This time, instead of branding the entire book, he flips through, page by page, marking only a select few. Certain pages glow with a purplish aura, Lynne finding her eyes transfixed on the enchanted book. "Read only the makred pages and sentences, understood?" Lynne gives a numb nod as she begins to read the spellbound book. Her mind aborbs all of the information, lynne carefully flipping through each and evety specified page in a trance state. Before long, she shuts the book, a new passion returning to her eyes. She removes her tiara and kicks it away, returning the book to the Bookmark. "Thanks. That was a much needed boost in confidence. And, about the tiara... no need to hagning onto ratty old things like that, is there?" Lynne begins to walk towards the door. Before, each step was uncertain and frightened - now, she now walked with a confident sway to her hips. "We ready to move on?" Edited June 15, 2014 by Endgame Quote
The_Customizer Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 "Yes.. yes we are. Let's go. The sooner I'm out of here the better." Quote
Endgame Posted June 15, 2014 Author Posted June 15, 2014 "STATEMENT: But we have a giant to defeat first..." "Onwards!" The party continues onward, going through the door... And find an identical elevator. "Nowhere to go but down..." The party takes a few hadty steps onto the decaying lift, another trio of Dauntlets grabbing onto the elvator. The shaft disconnects as the Dauntlets begin to carry the heroes downard into the abyss... It was a far more pleasant trip than their last elevator ride. They eventually end up in a far less developed portion of Nevermore. "Destination reached. Current location: Needle Passage." It was a disturbingly fitting name. Razor sharp spikes line the entirety of the formidable passage. They were shaprned to the point, each one more pointy than the last... One misstep and one could impale themselves on the wall of this hellish place. The ceiling and walls tremor, presumably due to some nearby source. The party is careful to evade any incoming spikes, having no desire to get impaled through the heart by one of the spikes. However, one spike manages to graze Arthur's hand, drawing a bit of blood. Or, more accurately: ink. Lynne takes notice. "Hey. We're not so different, are we? Inky creatures who have seen some crazy things." As Arthur and Lynne converse, the Minoid speaks. "I suspect the final confrontation is nigh." QM Note: You don't need to prepare quite yet - even when you step into the bossroom, you'll have plenty of time to ready yourselves. I'll move this along in a bit. Quote

Endgame Posted June 15, 2014 Author Posted June 15, 2014 "Pretty much, yeah. I have no idea of whether or not my days are numbered. May be an immortal, for all I know. My past is gone, so my general life goal is to make as many memories as I can. Not sure if i can obtain all the experiences Olegais has to offer... Most people don't want to settle down with a woman who has steel-black hair and bleeds ink, you know?" Quote
Flipz Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 "Yeah...there was a girl upstairs, one of the workers in the mine above us, who seemed interested in me, but then again she didn't know my secret. I highly doubt she's into semi-solid abominations, though." Arthur glances warily at the ceiling as it trembles once more. "Still, there's other things in life. You considered joining Heroica?" Quote
Endgame Posted June 16, 2014 Author Posted June 16, 2014 (edited) "Not many people are, but I suppose we've kinda been forced to be "in" to that kind of thing, if that is how it's phrased now. Heroica? I'd rather not be forced to kill more people, thank you very much... The Bookmark gave me Claire's confidence - and maybe a little bit of her promiscuity, to be perfectly honest - but not her bloodlust. I don't plan on taking more lives anytime soon." The_Customizer Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 "Arthur, though most people may not be interested in semi-solid abominations, I'm sure there are some.... Lynne, it is good to hear that you'd rather not kill people, that is how I've always lived my life, killing for protection, and nothing more." Quote
Endgame Posted June 16, 2014 Author Posted June 16, 2014 "Any murder is too slippery of a slope for me... Protection is a pretty blurry line. The only real definite type of killing I think may be good is mercy killing, but that is only because I thought I need one, just an hour ago... I feel better now. Either I was insane back then, or I am now. Considering I actually feel better now than I have in a while - or, hell, maybe it's just oms emagic side effect - I'm gonna say the former." Quote
Flipz Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 (edited) Arthur grimaces. "There's more to Heroica than that--not much more, admittedly, but it's there. I mean, we've got Byblos, and Schezerade, and...well whatever the Veterans do; I don't think I've ever heard of them actively fighting. If that's still not your style, there's also this group called the Syndicate; they used to be pretty shady, but they've mended their ways, and their entire mandate is about helping poor people in need. I could put in a good word with their leader for you if you wanted." Edited June 16, 2014 by Flipz Quote

I fought you guys hand to hand; who knows, The Regret may hve put in some crazy subliminal message that makes me go absolutely berserk or something. Not something I'd want. I was thinking someting a little more mundane, really. Not all of us can be protectors of the law or order or whatever." Edited June 16, 2014 by Endgame Quote
