jondesouza Posted February 23, 2008 Posted February 23, 2008 Like many others I'm sick of the round of hospital, firefighters and police sets. Especially the police. Lego City is like an Orwellian nightmare. Instead, I'd like to see a school and maybe a university campus. I like the idea of offices and would like it of these could be modelled on some of the interesting architecture that is happening around the world now - such as the Swiss Re building or Shard of Glass in London or some of the buildings that are going up in Dubai and the Far East. I like the idea of more housing as well. I think there could be a real opportunity for Lego if they produced a range of eco-houses using wood effect for the outside, roof gardens and maybe solar panels. Along those lines, what about a small pack of large wind turbines as well? Quote

If Lego sent an environment friendly message, with sets like those they could draw lots of attention and make loads of money. *y* It would also allow for more realistic town setups. X-D Dp8 Quote
Stealth Hunter Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 Some more ideas: 1.Bank Includes armoured transport, bank building with 2 floors, lots of money and 5 minifigs(2 civilians,2 bank employes and 1 criminal) Prize:30$ 2.Car Transport Includes 6 wide truck with trailer,3 cars and 3 minifigs(1 driver for the truck and two civilians) Prize:25$ 3.TV Team Includes TV van(with antennas on the roof),TV helicopter and 4 minifigs(2 TV guys,1 reporter and 1 civilian) Prize:20$ Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted March 20, 2008 Author Posted March 20, 2008 I still have more ideas:How about something like the German THW? 1.Response Unit Includes big truck(like this *wub* ),jeep,a big tree with a breaking function, lots of cool equipment and 5 minifigs(3 THW guys and 2 civilians) Prize:35$ 2.River Rescue Includes damaged car, boat, small truck which can load the boat and 4 minifigs(2 THW guys,1THW diver and 1 civilian) Prize:20$ 3.Headquarter Includes main building, garage for two vehicles,a small truck with a mini excavator on the back,a van which fits 2 figs and equipment, lots of equipment and 6 minifigs(1 THW leader and 5 normal THW guys) Prize:60$ 4.THW Jeep Includes THW jeep, some equipment and 1 THW guy minifig Prize:6$ That are great ideas, Stealth Hunter! A City Rescue subtheme "THW" would include amazing sets which could also include some of the forest subtheme sets some of us posted a while ago. Quote

Along those lines, what about a small pack of large wind turbines as well? I totally agree with you, jondesouza! More office buildings (like already discussed before) would be very welcome. But "environmental things" (please excuse me - I don't mean that deprecatingly - but I only don't find the real expressions) like solar panels would be a great idea, look very good and give the City's a more realistic outfit and a more eco-friendly image. ;-) But in one point I regrettably don't totally agree with you: On the one side it's right that I'm, too, are tired of the police subtheme because one big police station and some nice vehicles are enough fo a Lego City. But on the other hand I don't agree with you because there might be so much potential for new and exciting police sets like I already mentioned before (e. g. a police tank, some police special units, ...) - but Lego does sadly don't use this potential (at least until now but I fear it won't change) >:-( :'-( ! Mainly the bank with armoured transport would be an absolutely must and I really really hope that TLG will release one inthe very near future |-/ ! Quote
Stealth Hunter Posted April 2, 2008 Posted April 2, 2008 We all know that there will be trains using power functions in 2009. Klaus-Dieter Posted April 4, 2008 Author Posted April 4, 2008 (edited) That are really some great ideas, Stealth Hunter! *y* I indeed daon't think that we'll get so many sets seperate to buy in 2009 but perhaps - and hopefully, too - there will be a nice cargo train which will include an engine, a freight waggon, a flatbed waggon and a tank car and a passenger train with two nice passenger waggons, too. But perhaps there will be some S@H Exclusive train sets, too (like e. g. the Santa Fe serial some years ago). I would so much like to see a post waggon, a sleeping car and a dining car :'-) - that would be *wub* ! Your idea of a train gas station is a brilliant idea which hasn't been posted here until now ;-) . It would be a perfect addition to a new cargo loading station. brickchic Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 Hi! I haven't read the whole 18 pages on this topic so may be repeating some stuff :-$ . I agree with the bank idea *y* . I'd also like to see: 1) a school with child (timmy-size) figs 2) bus & bus station 3) taxi 4) hairdresser (with scissor accessories for the staff and a classic red and white barber's pole) 5) chemist/pharmacy/drugstore 6) fancy restaurant 7) clothing boutique 8) office building 9) nursing home/retirement townhouses wiht elderly minifigs (gery hair and wrinkled faces and nanna dresses! Walking frames, wheelchairs - oh the possibilities!) 10) a toy shop (else those Lego people would be total hypocrites!) That's my top 10 - for today anyway. :-D If TLC never make them then I'll continue to MOC them because they're just essentials in a town. That's not going to make me upset by any means :-P Rebecca Quote
Stealth Hunter Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 4) hairdresser (with scissor accessories for the staff and a classic red and white barber's pole)6) fancy restaurant 7) clothing boutique Haven´t seen this ideas before. *y* But I´m sure most Lego Citys don´t need a hairdresser because most MFs wear either caps or helmets. X-D Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted April 6, 2008 Author Posted April 6, 2008 That are great ideas, brickchic! *y* Like Stealth Hunter I can't remember having read the ideas of a hairdresser and a clothing boutique here. ;-) With the hairdresser I think it'll be a bit difficult because you would need a lot of new molds for a pair of scissors, a drier hood, etc. so it would get very expensive. Consequently I see the chances for a set like this regrettably very low :-( . I'd like very much a clothing bouthique - that'll be *wub* - and by the way not very difficult to do for TLG since they can use the coats from the SW and Castle sets and the regular caps, hats, etc. I could well imagine that TLG one day would release a set like this in an exclusive S@H set :-) like the excellent 10188 Town Plan ( *wub* ). legotrainfan Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 I would love to see a school, a pharmacy, a university, a bakery, a car seller, a computer shop, a judo dojo, an indoor swimming pool (like this one), and a main bus stop with three buses and passengers. For trains I would find a dead-end station fantastic. This railway station should have three long railway tracks put next to each other. They should be long enough for an engine plus at least four passenger waggons. Quote

Stealth Hunter Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 It´s a wishlist,Gouns. It´s not official,it´s just for EB members to tell what City sets they wish to see in 2009. *thumbup* Quote
marvinblue Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 Following on from others, I too would like to see a bank and a bank robber, a new hospital, and a bus stop or a bus terminal, complete with a bus or buses and drivers and passengers. Someting else that would be interesting would be a public works depot, with a few workers, a front end loader and an office. That way, I could also park my garbage truck, cement mixer and little digger there after hours. Also houses!! The Creator houses are absoultely fantastic, more designs would be great!! A post office or mail centre would also be a great idea, complete with an office, a loading/unloading area for the mail van/s and workers and customers. Also a smaller mail delivery vehicle like the old side cars or push bikes would be a welcome return. That way, the van would do bulk mail runs and parcel deliveries and the bike or side car would look after the mail runs. Quote
