I'd love a City Corner 2 next summer.

It could include a post office, a bank and a taxi stand. Maybe even an ice cream stand.

The buildings should be numbered like in City Corner, only continuing the count with 3 and 4.

Awesome idea, perfect merger of several ideas!!

To expand upon your idea

Downtown $49.99-$59.99:

Includes Post office, Bank, Ice cream shop and taxi w/taxi stand

The ice cream shop has many possible ideas like a ice cream bar and such

Minifigs are Banker, Taxi driver, 2 postal workers, ice cream salesperson and 2 civilians

Also note that the figs should have a nice ratio of men and women

Possible vehicles are the post truck, taxi and bikes

:cry_happy:

Monorail $100-$200

Includes Monorail, track that goes up and down in several places, 1 elevated station and 1 ground station

One station has food shop, or regular shop the ground level one has a roadplate .

Basically a modern day Airportshuttle

Rail Transit: $100-$200

The blue train from the TRU exclusive and track with the station connecting to a road plate that has other buildings on the other side

Great ideas everyone, too bad LEGO doesn't have us all working in the brainstorm/conceptualization department

These are great ideas, Macoco and Mission Commander!

I really do not understand why TLG is always coming back with its "non-civilian" themes (meaning fire, police, construction site, emergency, airport and trains) - like in 2010, too :sadnew: - whereas there is so much which could and should be done as civilian sets!

If TLG released the Public Transportation Center as the exclusive TRU set in next summer I bet that it'll include an elevated train with two stations and a hamburger stall. If TLG released the City Square as the exclusive TRU set in next summer I could well imagine that there'll be a hotel and an ice cream stand or a taxi station included. So both would be a win!

Nevertheless civilian sets which even include civilian buildings should be sold as regular sets, too! So I could imagine that we'll see a post office and a bank in 2011 - hopefully (next year)!

Here are two ideas which I think haven't been mentioned in this topic before:

Recycling Truck With Recycling Station 20-25 Euors

Keep your Lego City clean!

truck with crook to load and unload the truck with the recycling containers (similar to 6668)

including a green recycling container (8 long, 6 wide and 4-5 tall, with opening on two sides to throw the garbage inside), a brown recycling container, a shovel a brush and some garbage

minifigs: woman and recycling truck driver

Public Works Center 90 Euros

Plan how Lego City shall grow and take care of your streets and public buildings in Lego City!

(an updated version of 6383)

public works center building (first floor: two garages with rolling gates, entrance and small room for storing tools; second floor: two offices), big gate and grit silo

including a snow plough, an equipment car for road building and repairing, a small car for the boss of the public works center, a trailer with warn lights on its back (to show that there is a construction side and that you have to drive carefully), grit and a lot of tools

minifigs: boss of the public works center, female secretary and three workers

I agree with you Klaus- Dieter! I guess once LEGO City always LEGO City (meaning they will always do Fire and Police)

City Marina: $100

Includes dock with shops restaurants and ship garage.

Also features speed boats and other boats.

Good helping of figures.

Basically a modern day Sail N Fly Marina

Other sub theme features could include yachts like the Cabin Cruiser and such

And the fire boat actually will have something to save

Eh, I'm sure a hotel has been mentioned before, but this topic is too huge to read through fully. Hotels/motels are among the most ubiquitous real-life structures, yet Lego only attempted it once (and half-assedly at that I might add) in Main Street. Not saying that set is bad, but a single-building hotel would be better.

Considering my profession, I like your suggestion of an oil rig and oil port, K-D, but I think Lego is veering away from things like that considering they've stopped all licensing agreements with oil companies and started one with Vestas, a renewable energy company (I'll ignore the fact that many of the top producers of renewable energy in each catagory are 'oil' companies). I first thought a solar plant would be neat, but further review made me realize it could be kind of boring. The only other energy related set I could see them making is a fuel station that has signage for different types of fuel, like biodiesel, hydrogen, etc. It wouldn't be much different than the last gas station though. I think I brought this up in another topic too. I'd like a nuclear power plant but that could be boring as well. It wouldn't be hard to make though, using some of the large domed parts Lego has made.

I would really like to see some system skyscrapers. The tallest ever made was 6398 Central Precinct HQ if my research is correct, and that retailed for ~$75 USD. If they cut back on the vehicles, Lego could make two 4-5 story towers in the same style as one set for ~$90 or so. One residental, or even a hotel, and one commercial, like a bank or something. That could knock off several of my desired sets in one swoop.

I wouldn't mind seeing the return of Town space sets. Now that the US will be going back to the capsule-style launchers instead of the space shuttle, those could look neat. Especially considering the large curved panel and cone parts they have made for other lines.

Wow, that's a big post. I'll try to keep up with this topic from now on.

I keep seeing people mention adding a hotel, didn't Lego just pull off the most famous hotel ever? 51Iua7jxM9L._SL500_AA280_.jpg

On that note Lego needs to get with the service industry and bring back banks and food joints.

The Sail N Fly Marina is another of my all time favourites. I really liked the cafe/civilian aspect to the set.

Nice idea about the dock. I would also like to see a small civilian marina set. A bit like a coastal 'City Corner':

A small marina with 1 leisure boats, using the captain figure from the coastguard and life jackets. A bit like the old shark fishing set. Another boat for 2 scuba divers (new piece for mask and snorkel without having to wear a racing driver helmet)

An ice cream parlour.

Various other NEW minifigures, eg, an old man sitting on the jetty fishing, lady with glasses and lipstick head at the ice cream parlour and a child.

Nope, that's not a City set, it's a Lego Exclusive, on par with the sculpture sets. Besides, if everything we want Lego to make in this thread ends up made as a gargantuan set costing over $100 each, I'd rather they not be made at all. I only buy Town/City sets, not CC-style buildings.

Now that I think of it, it would have been pretty easy to make the City Corner set with a hotel instead of a pizza place. Maybe next time.

Agreed. Cafe Corner Styled buildings just don't look well with the current City facades, with the exception of the 10184 Town Plan.

Plus, the only building with a real interior is the Fire Brigade, and I already own 7945. :cry_sad:

I totally agree with you, Section8! CC styled buildings are no City sets (they are Factory/Creator sets) and so they do not fit (because of their closed backwalls, there size in general and their very few interior) with the regular City sets.

I totally agree with you, Macoco!

Indeed a new Fire Boat doesn't make much sense when there isn't anything to rescue and/or no fire to eliminate. So we definately need some harbor buildings, docks and of course boats and ships!

A yacht harbor would therefore be a great possibility!

I think it was already mentioned - but this topic is already that big so it's very hard to not oversee something.

A hotel would be awesome!

I totally agree with you that the hotel in the Main Street wasn't that a courser. It did not include any interior, was too small and the color (blue) doesn't fit very well, too. (I only bought the Main Street (S@H version) because of the great garage and the popcorn stand and the lovely minifigs.) A hotel has to be three floors big, in tan, yellow or white color and include great interior! So a new hotel or motel is absolutely necessary!

In this point I have to disagree with you because of several reasons, Section8:

1.

To my knowledge Vestas came to TLG and asked them for making a promo set for them - not TLG came to Vestas and asked whether they would like a Lego promo set.

2.

Why should an oil rig and/or oil port have to be a promo or licensed set?! TLG uses today the Octan symbol for everything that has to do with energy and oil. So they could use it for an oil tanker and an oil rig, too.

3.

Oil is not only used for making energy. It is even used for all products made out of plastic and for fuel. So how should Lego sets been transported with planes and trucks to the toy shops without fuel - and so even without oil?! And how should the bricks be packed in several plastic bags inside the cartons without plastic - and so even without oil?! And finally: how should bricks be made without plastic - and so even without oil?! - Like you can see, when you think until the end you become aware that Lego (or at least the bricks) wouldn't and even aren't aibke to exist without oil.

So there is imo nothing to argue against an oil rig and oil port since oil is needed for many other necessary things - and not only in order to produce energy with a high carbon dioxid (and other toxics) emission.

I would really like to see some system skyscrapers. The tallest ever made was 6398 Central Precinct HQ if my research is correct, and that retailed for ~$75 USD. Some skyscrapers - or at least one - would be really cool to have for our Lego Cities. But I fear that TLG will never release one or some. On the other hand we have been surprised with that many awesome City sets this and last year we never could have thought about - so nearly everything is possible.

I wouldn't mind seeing the return of Town space sets. Now that the US will be going back to the capsule-style launchers instead of the space shuttle, those could look neat. Especially considering the large curved panel and cone parts they have made for other lines.

I, too, wouldn't be averse to Space Port in the style of the mid-90 sets coming back. But imo firstly TLG should come back with harbor and train sets and should release many civilian sets!

Klaus-Dieter, Cafe Corner (with the giant Hotel sign) is a City set it is in the Town section of Lego.com; you won't find it listed in Creator or Factory. Now it may not be a Lego System set but it is a City set; be it too big or not junior enough is besides the point. If Lego wants continued success with city sets they will have to keep supplying spectacular Modular Size buildings that are non traditional fire and police. I would speculate that the next Modular Set will be a train station since AFOL is the main target for trains.

1. That may be, but I read somewhere that Lego stopped mass-producing sets with oil company logos after the Exxon Valdez accident. Hence why Octan was created. If I understand you, you're right, Lego doesn't need a licensing deal to make any of those sets. But they would provide an impetus for making them. I think the new wind turbine transport set was a direct result of the reaction to the Vestas set.

2. True. In fact many oil rigs don't even have an oil company logo visible on them, because they are too offshore to be seen by anyone but the workers, or the platform itself isn't owned by the company, but a third party. But for continuity's sake I wouldn't mind an Octan-colored and labeled oil platform (I also wouldn't mind a Shell one but I don't see that happening :sceptic: ).

3. In my opinion it is baffling that Lego has not made an oil platform before. Not only is it something that is basically begging to be made into a set, but Denmark is very close to the North Sea, which was really ramping up oil production at about the same time Lego was beginning its golden age (late 1970s to mid-80s). It also had licensing deals with many of the major producers in that area (Shell, Exxon, Maersk). An oil port would be a harder sell. Not only are tankers and refineries HUGE, but they are fairly boring, with few visible moving parts. Imagine the ship from 7994 City Harbour, but twice as long and most of it nothing but a flat deck. Not much play value there, and I'd rather have something else for an adult-oriented S@H exclusive.

Again, skyscrapers are ubiquitous. So why hasn't Lego made a building more than 3 stories tall? And why are most of those that are 3 stories emergency services buildings?

I, too, wouldn't be averse to Space Port in the style of the mid-90 sets coming back. But imo firstly TLG should come back with harbor and train sets and should release many civilian sets!

Indeed. I am waiting for an integrated City and Space line. Basically you have the Launch Pad and Mission Control as Town sets and a semi-realistic Moon/Mars base and spacecraft for the space line. A compromise somewhere between the early 1990s sets (exploration- rather than combat-focused) and the few actual Mars lines (not as futuristic-looking, but have aliens). Not only would that line be better than some of the recent Space lines, but it would free up room in the City line for other sets we want!

Yes Pilot! This is exactly what I had in mind for the third part of my park ideas (posted earlier in this thread). I have copied it below. Would look great!

- A playground with working swings, a slide, see saw and roundabout.

- An ice cream van, with ice creams and lollipop accessories, a driver wearing a shirt, 2 kids and a mother.

- A small park cafe selling hot dogs and coffee with lots of trees and added scenery, including fountain, grandparents and children with skateboards and new coloured bikes (I used to have a great Playmobil set like this!).

I partly agree with you, Section8.

On the one hand you're supposably right: for many - mainly junior - FOLs a tanker and a refinery would be too boring. (I'd say it might even depend on how the set is designed - because with the tank trunk you can't do much more than driving around, too.)

On the other hand an oil rig would surely be a great set with could include many action elements and play features:

-helicopter with landing platform

-diving bell with crane

-life boat which speeds downwards

-boring bar to move up and down

-cordination room, storage room for tools, briefing room and sleeping room

-helicopter pilot, boss, diver and two workers

Isn't that even more playability than in the CG Platform?!

Again, skyscrapers are ubiquitous. So why hasn't Lego made a building more than 3 stories tall? And why are most of those that are 3 stories emergency services buildings?

In this point I totally agree with you, Section8!

And I'm even sure that if TLG included e. g. a doctor's office, a cafe, a shop and an office in a skyskraper (or let's say a house bigger than three floors) plus some cars and minifigs to play, AFOLs as well as JFOLs would like it!

Speeking about tall buildings I even would like to see:

TV Tower around 100 Euros (perhaps as S@H Exclusive)

tower with small office (to buy tickets for the drive to upwards) downstairs, a turnable restaurant and a viewing balcony on top of the tower and an elevator inside it (the elevator and the turning function of the restaurant may both be PF functioned - but not necessarily), a small landscape with a piece of a lake and a waterside with a bench, a street lamp and some flowers

including a movable ice cream stand, some tools, some tumblers, some cups, a grey suitcase, a small TV car (for the worker to repair the TV aerials on top of the tower) and a spyglass

minifigs: TV worker, waitress, female ticket seller, mother, father, son, boy and ice cream seller

Here is some sets that also need remakes  ...

All of these (sorry if picture heavy!) were very good sets!

I totally agree with you. Legoliner Pilot!

These were indeed all great sets - and if TLG did modernise them and include more interior and additional stuff these would even be excellent sets!

A re-design (better than re-release since these old sets often had nearly no interior and the buildings were very small, too!) of some of these sets would be awesome - esp. of the Bank, the Post Office, the Hamburger Stall, the Town Square, the Airport Shuttle and the Chocomel Factory! Yes, we need some industrial buildings, too!

Hopefully TLG will offer some sort of small park, an ice cream van and a street cafe to us next year!

Right now trees are a bit hard to get in vast quantities. What if TLC made a tree pack? That would simply be !!!

It would be $14.99 USD. You would get 8 pine trees and 8 fruit trees, shown below:

The cypress trees are the best in my opinion. A pity they don't make them anymore, although the bicycles were brought back for cafe corner even after the moulds had been destroyed or something like that.

I'd love a new trees/fences/flowers set with the cypress trees, the white fences and some of the rarer colour flowers (blue, purple and NEW orange flowers!)

Agreed, we need more accessory packs, like in the old days. There used to always be a road sign and a 'foliage' set around.
