Rijkvv Posted May 30, 2010 Posted May 30, 2010 @BobaFett2: I get your point about the prices. The sets get bigger these days, as a result raising the price even more. However, sets don't always get more expensive. The 2005 fire station (7240) had a list price of $30 USD, being cheaper than the two Town JR Fire Stations: the 1997 one (6554) and the 2000 one (6478) with their list prizes $44 and $50 USD respectively. I think the difference gets even bigger when you count the inflation. These sets have about the same piece count. If I look to the garbage trucks, the 2007 one is around twice expensive, but has a lot more parts (so it has way better parts-price ratio). @Klaus-Dieter: those ideas look very great to me. The pick-up could be another set outside the existing standard themes (police, rescue, construction etc.) like many great sets of Classic Town were. The second idea looks great as well, but I doubt TLG will release some set like that in a City setting with armed robbers. I would buy it, though. Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted June 27, 2010 Author Posted June 27, 2010 (edited) The second idea looks great as well, but I doubt TLG will release some set like that in a City setting with armed robbers. I would buy it, though. But what about a police tank like in 7035 Police HQ, Richie? Imo at least a new police tank would be awesome! I really would like to see some a redesign of one of the skate parks like 3535 Skatebard Stree Park, 6738 Skateboard Challenge or at the best 3537 Skateboard Vert Park Challenge. Some re-designs of Impulse Sports sets like 5013 Free Throw, 5016 Player and Basket and/or 5015 Skateboarder would be great additions. I'm hundred percent convinced that kids would really like to play with these sets today, too, and for us AFOLs these would be great additions to the civilian life of our Lego cities. BrickClick Posted July 4, 2010 Posted July 4, 2010 BUMP! (This topic needed it!) I love the idea of skate park sets! A park set would be cool to! Some of my other (They have probably been mentioned already) ideas include: A cinema (Sold by itself not like in the town plan) A school A post office A LEGO store A new hospital A car park A park Quote
lightningtiger Posted July 4, 2010 Posted July 4, 2010 It's about time Lego bring out a supermarket and other city/town shops, i.e. bakery, fruit & veg stand etc.,. 'BrickClick' is right a new post office and yes, a NEW plus BETTER hospital ! I'm a conformist! ! Quote
Justin Posted July 4, 2010 Posted July 4, 2010 (edited) The idea of a beach subtheme would be cool! Just imagine all the sets they could come up with. Here are some ideas: A beach with sunbathers, a surf shack with a juice bar, and some surfboards. A vehicle based on the 1940s Woodie station wagon featuring a surfer as its driver. This LEGO surfer minifigure serves as my inspiration: Edited July 4, 2010 by Justin Quote
Mace Windu Posted July 5, 2010 Posted July 5, 2010 I think that we need some zoo sets! Some 10-20$ sets with 2 exhibits each, plus some bystanders and a keeper. It would be an easy way to get some new animals like a recolored polar bear for a grizzly or black bear, or a recolored horses for a zebra. Here are my ideas: Zoo Enterance: An enterance and some guests Camel and Ostrich Exhibits: 2 16x16 exhibits with 2 of each animal, with some bystanders and a keeper. Zebra and Lion Exhibits: Same as above. Tiger and Monkey Exhibits: Same as above. Penguin and Polar Bear Exhibits: Same as above. Wolf and Grizzly Bear Exhibits: Same as above. Monkey and Crocodlie Exhibits: Same as above but with black instead of brown monkeys. Elephant Exhibit: Same as above but with a 32x32 exhibit. Rhino Exhibit: Same as Elephant Exhibit. Hippopotomus Exhibit: Same as Elephant Exhibit. Quote
Marckeyh Posted July 5, 2010 Posted July 5, 2010 Agreed, a zoo set could be very interesting! Also agree on the hospital, a new one is needed! Would like to see: Petrol station Truck stop/ service station Post office Museum Garage Multistory parking lot -M Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted July 8, 2010 Author Posted July 8, 2010 I totally agree with all your ideas mentioned in the last posts since these are simply existential parts of a decent city! An additional comment to my wish for a new skateboading theme/set: It can even include some BMX-bikers, wakeboarders and inlineskaters in addition to the skateboarders. And there should be skateboards in different colors - always only blue is really boring and unrealisitc. Black with stickers would be perfect. What do you think? Klaus-Dieter Quote
lightningtiger Posted July 8, 2010 Posted July 8, 2010 A new skate park, RADICAL DUDE! I wonder if such sets will be revisited, but what about a swimming pool eh ? I'm a conformist! ! Quote
Tony Almeida Posted July 8, 2010 Posted July 8, 2010 (edited) SWAT Van - Includes 5 heavily-armed SWAT minifigures and bomb defusal drone! Combine with Bank Robbery for hostage rescuing fun! Edited July 8, 2010 by Tony Almeida Quote
lightningtiger Posted July 8, 2010 Posted July 8, 2010 SWAT Van - Includes 5 heavily-armed SWAT minifigures and bomb defusal drone! Combine with Bank Robbery for hostage rescuing fun! Lego doesn't normally use heavily-armed minifigs - unless it's an action theme like agents which is a little sci-fi like and the city theme is generally peaceful. How about something like police rescue ? I'm a conformist! ! Quote
Rijkvv Posted July 8, 2010 Posted July 8, 2010 (edited) But what about a police tank like in 7035 Police HQ, Richie? Imo at least a new police tank would be awesome! To be honest I think the vehicle in 7035 is poorly designed. A police tank seems unrealistic to me, however an armoured car or maybe an APC would be possible. But they usually belong to military police. Although these are rarely used in violent roles, the word 'military' can be the end of the idea for LEGO. If it will be an APC, maybe the Dutch YPR-765 KMar. Used for Crowd- and Riot Control (CRC). On the front side a ram or dozer blade can be fitted. There's also a special version for storming hijacked planes (YPR-765 AAV). If something like this will be released, I surely buy one. Edited July 8, 2010 by Richie Quote
Mrlegoninja Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 I hope we see some new buildings like a bank or post office. Quote
mant Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 I hope I can see a ferry in my public transportation. Quote
Princess Muttonchops Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 After reading the last page or so of comments, I'm glad to see I'm not alone in wishing for more everyday themes for City sets. I would love to see Lego do a fast food restaurant or a supermarket, that would be awesome. Quote
Mr. Elijah Timms Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 Sitting in the terrible North American heat wave, I was just thinking the other day about snow-- That said, wouldn't it be great if they released a civilian truck with a big ol' snow plow on the front, maybe a few shovels and/or 1x1 white rounds to 'plow' through. It'd look good with the new Winter sets, plus you could take the plow off for the rest of the year. I'm sure I'll end up adding on an entire 'Snow' theme to this now that my brain's wheels are turning, so stay tuned... Quote
lightningtiger Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 Snow eh ? How about a ski lodge and chair lift to the top of the slopes ? Plus I second the idea.......supermarket......Duplo had one only a year or so ago, it should be City theme's turn. I'm a conformist! ! Quote
Mr. Elijah Timms Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 Snow eh ? How about a ski lodge and chair lift to the top of the slopes ? Of course-- how about a nice little chalet A-frame cabin where skiers can stand their skis outside and come in for apres-ski beside a toasty fireplace, and perhaps a sip of something warm from a barrel behind the bar?? -zenn Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 Something a would like to see is: - a television broadcast truck, like back in the days... - a television broadcast chopper, for those amazing chases. - a motorcycle shop, great for repearing all bikes now (and hoverbikes in the future ) - a pizza delivery van, or scooter as a add-on to the current pizza restaurant. - More shops or seperate units and put them together to form a mall or mainstreet. I'm sick of construction workers, they should be done constructing right now. - A monster truck or a hotrod car. Quote
Jasper Joppe Geers Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 Hmm makes me think.. Wouldn't it be great to have some of those Tour De France sets? Some cars, some bikes in different colors... indeed, a reporter on a motorcycle wouldn't be a miss either! Quote
Minifig Lecturer Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 A clamper would be nice, you know a tow truck with a new piece to clamp the tyres of cars parked illegally. Quote
Carbohydrates Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 How about an office building, complete with cubicles, so you can build it and leave your figs inside, sitting there day after day doing nothing in particular with no ascertainable goal for eternity, removed from their tasks only when their omniscient observer decides to toy with their lives? Posting this from work, by the way. Quote
Mrlegoninja Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 They have Wind Turbine Transport, which uses a windmill. They have the Family House, which uses solar panels. The have the Octan Tanker, which uses oil. So...how about an energy series? Maybe a geothermal well? Also a hydroelectric dam? Maybe with a turbine that really spins! How about an oil rig? Maybe two of them (One on land and the other on water). And a coal mine with a vehicle that can bring out the coal. A substation maybe? Every city has to have electricity at the right amount of volts. And finally, a little electric pole that come with wire(Wire meaning Lego string)that you can buy in little packs of three and put around your city. (Also you could tie the string together and wire it to the substation to make a fake electric circuit Sadly, these are only thoughts and will never happen . Quote
Mr. Elijah Timms Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 (edited) I was thinking about this the other day, and came up with a new idea, something TLG's never done before: How about a Cruise Ship?? A big ol' honking ship with a bridge, several staterooms inside, along with a concourse, maybe even a stage or casino in the bowels of the ship. And then, for the top deck, a pool area, a mini-golf hole, and last but not least the big climbing wall with some extreme sports types to climb it. Obviously it would be a huge, pricy set, with at least 12-14 figs included: The captain, a few pursers or otherwise ship attendants, a chef with food cart, ship security, a gambling man, two showgirls for the stage, a lifeguard, a few old guests with gray hair and formal attire, a few very young guests, most likely in swimwear, and last but not least the rock-climbing dude. Lots of possibilities, and certainly could be filled up with other figs to the gills. BUT pricey, pricey, pricey!! I remember seeing ACPin do a cruise ship once, now that I think of it-- perhaps one day TLG might do the same? Edited August 6, 2010 by Mr. Elijah Timms Quote
