I know it's been done before back in the 80s, but it's long overdue - a new truck stop. With all the trucks Lego has released over the past few years, I think it would be a good idea. The stop should accomodate trucks up to 8-studs wide, and contain a cafe/diner, repair shop with spare parts, mechanic, etc, a refuelling station (Octan of course), and maybe even a truck wash.

Ah, a truck stop...yes we would have had one if everyone voted for it a couple of years ago....the TRU public transport came out instead.

Now I toss this in, modern redesigns as sets of the shops featured in the 1980 ideas book.....a supermarket and a store selling tools and other items.....being moved into a house.

Interesting, I never knew what the choices were. What was the third choice?

What about a car carrier/transporter? Similar to 7900 Heavy Loader, but smaller and with a decked trailer. It could come with 3 small cars (similar to to 3177 Small Car). You could have 2 on the bottom and 1 up top. Of course, there would also be extra room to add further cars (perhaps 4-5 max).

You can pretty much form a road train from existing sets, though.

A big OcTan roadtrain would be nice though. The cab from 3221 in white/green/red and a whole bunch of trailers. :classic:

Then you could have your huge truck stop/road house to go with it....a road transport sub-theme.

Yes, a truckstop dinner! Complete with dirty bathroom and rednecks.

But a clean shower !

We don't have rednecks in Oz....only Cold Chisel fans !

Back on topic......a tyre fitting truck with lift..well trucks and truck tyres are both heavy.

Yes, we were drifting off... I would like to see some smaller establishments, like that oldschool Pizza Parlor. Or a newspaper stand, a candy shop, a skateboard shop. Maybe some sort of lookout point, maybe some busstops.

I just think TLG should invest in smaller city size sets, 'cause I don't think lot's of kids will be buying those big expensive ones. They could just make some easy remakes from oldschool sets for example.

It's a shame this will never happen, but I think a Lego military theme would have so much potential. Army, navy, air force, etc. Minifigs and vehicles would all be compatible with City sets (roughly to scale). Imagine having your city occupied by foreign forces. Ah, one can dream...

Perhaps you are right '-zenn' smaller sets might be the way to go.....little some shops on just the 8x16 base plates similar to the TRU shop with their exclusive truck set.

Yes I think that could definitely work. A small postoffice would be nice start. :classic:

So no one liked my military idea? :(

It's not that anyone liked it, but that it would never happen. Lego City has never been around violence; Look at their police sets. They don't include guns or batons. Although I would hope for a military theme to happen, it wouldn't be a city subtheme but an action theme.

Lego does have violent themes though. Pirates is a military based theme and includes guns. Kingdoms/castle too.

In fact, if you gave the police in Lego city the guns from pirates, they would be an accurate representation of the Victorian police force (who still use revolvers designed in the 1800s).

I never said lego doesn't have violent themes. I said Lego City would never have a violent subtheme.

Oh, you barely edited your post. Well yeah, you yourself can give them guns, but we're talking about regular non-modded city sets that are made by lego. Those never have guns.

The funny thing is, I have lots of Lego city, and I have never realised that Lego police don't have guns (thinking back it is true, I have just never realised).

For Lego town ideas, I just like regular stuff, I would love a Lego school, hairdresser, grocery store, etc... sets that have both the playability factor and the opportunities to have really cool accessories.

Not necessarily... they had a City space exploration subtheme that wasn't a 'Space' theme, they could have a Military Base subtheme that isn't an 'Action' theme. As long as it doesn't actually have two armies at war with each other, it can fit into the City theme, just like the space exporation theme can fit into City because it doesn't have Aliens.

That isn't to say it will ever happen... just that it might work in City if was just an army outpost, rather than a 'war' theme.

Can Lego have 'violence' in a City theme, if there is no conflict, and therefore no actual 'violence'?
