Dat Lego Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 I'd really like to see a town park. One that includes a playground, a gazebo, an ice cream stand, and a fountain. Probably should be made in 8x16 or 16x16 baseplates, connectable like the City Corner set. Quote

tomdobs55 Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 Now that idea has potential, since we have got a plumber and soon a house painter, I'll say it again....something like a hardware store or builders supply with lots of tools, doors, plumbing fixtures and tins of paint. Now I don't claim to know everything about Lego pricing but would having a store stocked with "special" pieces such as tools and other minifig utensils be cost prohibitive? Quote

Not really, you only need enough items to get the effect of a fully stocked store. Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted June 28, 2013 Author Posted June 28, 2013 (edited) Here's a new idea in which I think mainly teens, when released in the City theme, (or girls, if released in the Friends theme) would be interested: Lake With Water Ski Lift a small lake (or a suggestion of it) with some barriers for stunts in it (like a kicker), a small terrace with a kiosk and a water ski lift with cash point, small shop and PF-driven lift accessory: three pairs of water skis, three wakeboards, tumblers, cups, food, two caps, two extra helmets, dog minifigures: female kiosk owner, male viewer, shop owner, female water skier, male wakeboarder Imo this would link perfectly a possible sports subtheme with a hobby / vacation / forest subtheme. It would contain action and lots of playability as well as a nice setting in a lovely atmosphere. What do you think? Klaus-Dieter Edited June 28, 2013 by Klaus-Dieter Quote
Jargo Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 The biggest problem I see with your idea Klaus, is that of the PF function. I could see a lift being hand crank-able only. Unless of course it was an exclusive or direct to customer set. In principle I think a water park is an excellent idea but to fit into the City theme it would need to be slightly less ambitious. Well considering we got the Heartlake City Pool set over at the Friends theme this year I don't really think a water park is in the offering anytime soon. But if it's going to be a set I think it might be connectable segments (like the Town Square) consisting of different parts like a changing room, a couple of water slides, a kiddy pool, a regular sized pool and a small café. But if not it might be released altogether in a 48x48 baseplate, although that might be a hassle having all those things in a 48x48. Quote
Trance89 Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 A City Zoo would be a nice addition. Most of the city themes are very repetitive so a new theme would be refreshing. This will require new animal molds ofcourse but the new animals could be used for other themes and I know that new animals will make a lot of people happy. Quote
Freddy Bricker Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 I just want an actual lego city. Not police stations, fire stations, and A MILLION cars. That being said I believe that releasing a "mega mall" different to the grand emporium, a tall Orthanc-like building with strong details and interior, along with a couple of apartments would be nice. Along with the modular buildings and creator houses, I think this would succeed at making a city. I do however think it will fail at sells, seeing as how children wouldn't find much fun with an apartment building and wouldn't spend $300 for a building that won't explode. Quote
Tom Jurassic Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 Lego Special Police Command Vehicle Similar to the command vehicles we see used by SWAT and armed police officers, this would be a simple cab-and-trailer design. The Cab would feature room for one figure, with a coffee mug, and a printed radio piece. The rear would feature opening back doors and a removable roof, and would feature several computer consoles, and at the far end, a row of equipment with 2x Pairs of Handcuffs, 1x Radio and 1x Torch. The Vehicle would be in a dark blue and white colour scheme. Also included would be a Pickup-Type car with seating for one minifigure in back, and an open rear with storage space containing two 100 dollar bills and a crowbar. This vehicle would be cast in black, with flame sticker highlights. Included would be one Special Police Officer with Black Cap and Handcuffs, one Special Police Officer with Random Hair Piece and Handcuffs, and one Criminal with a new torso and a crowbar. Would retail for between £30 to £40. Bike Ride 1x Scenery Piece of a street, with a lamp post, a letter box, a fire hydrant and some other details ( i.e. drains) that you would expect from a street sidewalk. 1x Turquoise Bicycle, 1x Red Bicycle, 1x Skateboard 1x Postman with Backpack and Several Letters for Post Box, 1x Kid on Scateboard, 1x Man with Backpack and Fedora Hat, 1x Woman with Backpack and Long Hair Piece. Between £10 to £20. Quote

This will require new animal molds ofcourse but the new animals could be used for other themes and I know that new animals will make a lot of people happy. Yeah, I would also like to see a zoo. I think it could be a set for each section of a zoo so that peaple don't have to buy a big set for just some animals and they can just buy some sets with the animals they most want. So that is what I most want Lego to make for the city theme. Quote
fhomess Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 An updated TV van would be great addition, and it's easy to see how a kid might want to have news footage of the fires and arrests going on in their city. I think a skating park would be cool and doesn't have to be that big. Could be a $30 set with just a ramp and rail or two and a couple skateboarders. I'd love to see another racing set. I played so much with 6381 Motor Speedway and longed for 6395 Victory Lap Speedway. Quote
lightningtiger Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 I don't feel Lego would release any play set for just racing as that they have the Racers theme and also racing car/monster truck sub-themes in the great vehicles range. Now I'll say it again even after a few years........TRUCK STOP....at least ! I guess we'll see what surprises Lego has for us city fans in February. Quote
TheLazyChicken Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 Now I'll say it again even after a few years........TRUCK STOP....at least ! I guess we'll see what surprises Lego has for us city fans in February. I also want a truck stop! I am expecting it to appear in a few years or in 2014, since we saw a place next to it that could look like one next to the town square when pictures first came. So I think it eventually will come out. :-) Quote
lightningtiger Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 Sadly that gas station was actually a MOC by one of the designers from Lego themselves......but it would be nice to have that one......though the roof would have to be raised for trucks to under it. I guess our think should go in the direct of yes, sadly what boys would want to play with....meh, but still some shops is what we all cry out for......as long as they are not pizza bars or bike shops. A hardware store and supermarket would keep both boys and girls happy......kids generally go with mum's and dad's to both. Quote
1974 Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 LEGO City is probably THE most conservative TLG theme so I do not have much hope for any of these suggestions. It's been fire/police/construction ever since Town died .. I really do wonder just what goes on at those board meetings TLG have gone through loads of public crap regarding Friends and it's stereotypical girlie pinkness .. but actually City is much worse. There's some pretty cool sets in the Friends theme .. hell, they even got a place to shit .. but City? No, that's a place filled with robbers and fire Quote
Tom Jurassic Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 Supermarket Bust-Up 1x Lego Supermarket with Glass Display Windows ( One is Breakable), Interior Shelving, Rear Safe Room, Trolleys and several tills, as well as a removable roof. 1x Lego Police Car with Opening Doors and Removable Roof. 1x Male Police Officer, 1x Female Police Officer, 1x Robber, 1x Shop Attendant, 2x Shoppers " Quick, chase the Robber from the City Supermarket as he busts out through the window!" Quote
finnbricker Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 (edited) LegoFan117, I bet you just want the supermarket, but bake in the cops to make it City-appropriate ;) But yeah, the idea is good. Supermarket is good, the police make it even better in the eyes of TLG. I'm thinking of something that would be nice to have and could be made fire-related somehow. School with fire drills or evil pupils setting their school on fire? I wonder if the Friends school rules out a City one. Edit: now I know! A gas station that catches fire! SheepEater Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 (edited) My grand idea for a Lego City set that would be destined to be in the pantheon of great city sets for the ages Ultimate collector's edition: Industrial Complex. 3500 pieces, 17 minifigs. $400 USD, $450 CAD (because of all the motors) Factory - The centerpiece would be a huge 2 floor factory with technic motors moving 2 or more ceiling-based sliding crane arms. - Conveyor belt circling the factory - Truck loading bay with sliding doors. Includes 1 or 2 trucks - Train loading bay, with large crane - Warehouse area with trans-light green toxic waste spill Train - Complete, motorized cargo train with a loco+3 cars. Complete train railroad to joins the factory with the: Cargo harbor - complete harbor with a container ship, crane, done in the same general style as the 6542 but with the train track joining the docks and accessible by the crane arm. jonwil Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 Don't know if its been suggested but I would love to see an Octan oil rig as a set. Something about the size and price point of the 4210 Coast Guard Platform only as an oil rig. To date LEGO have made 3 oil rigs. One was a pre-minifig Shell oil rig back in the 70s, one was a special one-off promotional set for an oil company and one was a Cars 2 set. A good modern oil rig would be cool. Quote
lightningtiger Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 (edited) I like both 'jonwil's and 'sheepeaters' ideas, though price point might be an issue.......a factory sub-theme might work out better than a UCS style city set. Though a UCS theme for city........shopping centre, hospital, airport terminal, hotel/motel, school and of course an oil rig could be sound suggestion to Lego's design team. As a parent, a package of a series together.....bigger than the super sets might work out cheaper for us parents to keep kids (big and small) happy. Edited November 15, 2013 by lightningtiger Quote
tomdobs55 Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 I like the idea of a UCS theme for a city, but aren't we already getting that in the modular series? Highly detailed models aimed at AFOLs? Quote
lightningtiger Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 I like the idea of a UCS theme for a city, but aren't we already getting that in the modular series? Highly detailed models aimed at AFOLs? The modulars are totally aimed at the adult market, where as city is mostly aimed at CFOL and perhaps TFOL markets......or maybe some crazy adult collectors like yourstruly ! One UCS style one could also be a car dealer with showroom and workshop...well, since we are getting a car carrier for 2014 it might make sense ? Quote
scottwb2010 Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 Cargo habor - complete harbor with a container ship, crane, done in the same general style as the 6542 but with the train track joining the docks and accessible by the crane arm. I agree with your harbour theme, as come 2015 there would be the same time span from 7994 Lego City Harbour (2007) - 4645 Harbour (2011) - 2015 so not really too soon for a new harbour, I would like to see it as a Maersk themed set and come with a Maersk container lorry as there hasn't been one of those released since set 1831 in 1995 excluding the shunter lorry in 10219 Maersk Train set.
