Though I do think that as far as shops and restaurants are concerned, they should leave that to City. Creator can stay with houses. Shops, Businesses and Restaurants (and food/shop vehicles) overall seem to be fairly complicated subject as they are divided between many themes right now, and I don't think they can simply put it all under 1 theme. I think the main advantage of putting some shops under 3-in-1 still are the alternate builds, in the last 5 or so years, there's been multiple shops that turned into entirely different shops with the alternate builds. Recent examples are the 2017 Corner Deli into a Flower Shop , 2018 Sweet Surprises Shop turning into a Swimming Pool, 2019 Petshop/Cafe turning into a Barber+Dentist or Bank, and 2020 again Toy Shop into Flower Shop or another Cake Shop. I'm not saying City buildings can't be repurposed or MOCed into different shops, LEGO used to have basicly 2-3 alternate builds on the back of boxes, now it's up to the builders themselves. 3-in-1 just acts as a little extra guideline. However we seem to be getting more and more shops in City sets lately. - Pizza Van being sold for nearly 3 years, now, (retiring soon) , Ice Cream truck likely the direct replacement - Donut Shop / Toy Shop set - Ski Resort (Ski Shop / Hot Chocolate stand) - Burger Bar - People packs / Polybags / Magazine Gifts : Icecream/Hotdogs/Pizza Also various food items within other sets, like pizza in space sets, popcorn in 2019 fire station, hotdogs/chicken legs in camping sets, cupcakes in hospital shop, cookies/donuts in advent calendars , and then Xtra food packs. I'd love to see more non-food shops (beside just toys/pets) in City/3-in-1 as well like minfiig accesoires , hair salon (hairpieces) , torsos/legs as clothes shop, and a true supermarket minifig set, but most of this seems to be just under Friends right now. Maybe also Xtra packs with just minifig heads / torsos / legs to expand customization , I know people packs kind of serve that purpose but aren't cheap. Edited November 22, 2019 by TeriXeri Quote

Not from a specific football club though. The advice from Man Utd would be to have their branding over as much as possible. Totally unnecessary within City. 3 hours ago, pooda said: If all they need to do is change colors, I wonder why they just don't do that. Not really the same if it isn't City. Probably because they don't think that there is a market for it or that it will not sell as well as their current City line-up. They put a lot into their Sports theme 15 odd years ago but I don't think it sold too well. Of course, it was more game focused than regular LEGO and there are way better football based games than those LEGO produced. Plus I think boys tend to want specific teams on football (soccer) shirts, whereas girls are more accepting of plainer shirts for sports (of course, this is a generalisation). Quote

They could just make up names! You know how much Lego encourages the imagination. But I do see your point though. I'm just apalled that Lego's City division thinks that all little boys love is rescue and explorers themed crap. I mean....there are lots of things that boys love that could be made into City sets. Plus that is what this forum is for. Its called Ideas for new City sets. Quote
Maple Posted November 22, 2019 Posted November 22, 2019 I want a postal van/truck. There is no reason two have two postal planes (which I have never seen) over having a $20-30 truck or a $10 van. Quote

Maple Posted November 22, 2019 Posted November 22, 2019 Its a plane not a jet but I digress. I agree, I never bought that and would like it to be modernized a bit and made into a $10-13 set. Quote
TeriXeri Posted November 24, 2019 Posted November 24, 2019 So we were talking about City Sports earlier, and now I noticed this on brickset : A new Xtra 40375: Sports Accessories (yes that's the best picture they have right now) https://brickset.com/sets/40375-1/Sports-Accessories Quote

Surfboard was in the Xtra sea accessoire pack. Skateboard was in the Xtra Bicycles pack. So I don't mind them missing in this as long as those other Xtra packs are still sold, of course they could be different color but I understand they chose different sports. I'll probably end up buying 2 of this sports pack as there's usually spare parts of the ice and rollerskate, and ski-pole parts, so you end up with an even number (6) if you buy 2 polybags. Digger of Bricks Posted December 1, 2019 Posted December 1, 2019 (edited) A few here have previously brought up the possibility of City revisiting the Australian Outback as a future Exploration subtheme (subsequently acting as a successor to the 1997 subtheme of Town), and I was pondering what the expeditionary focus of a modern iteration of such would be. Could it perhaps it be a paleontological one, centered around the excavation of Dinosaur fossils? Edited December 1, 2019 by Digger of Bricks Quote

It could. Or it could just focus on Outback life in general. Though the latter wouldn't really appeal to children as much as the former. I'm very excited for 2020 though. This is the best wave we've had in three years. Race cars will be my first pickup. Quote

One thing a new Outback subtheme shouldn't forgo though is the introduction of some new Australian wildlife molds, particularly for a Kangaroo and a Koala; so, having said that, I wouldn't want to trade-up that opportunity if a paleontological focus would leave no room for such. Ok! That I would pay for. But if the Outback theme is a no go, they can always make some Xtra packs for wild animals. Edited January 9, 2020 by pooda Quote

Of course, and I'd like a Space theme inspired after pulp science fiction of the 1930's, yet there still are plausible reasons one can figure for why some things just aren't so. Quote

But that doesn't mean that they can't have a City Barber at some point, with the overlap between themes not impossible, especially now that City is making more shops again (2019 Burger Bar, Donut/Toy Shop, Ski Resort Shop) Edited December 31, 2019 by TeriXeri Quote
